Yeah, I'm wishing I had originally rolled Katana/Dark to pick up DA. The layered mitigation is the best. My build is not 100% complete, due to lack of funds, so I only have around 30% melee defense with less thant 20% Ranged/AoE.

So, there's no way I'd ever be able to do this on my Claws/DA Scrapper. The Energy hole is just too readily apparent. Even the vanilla RWZ Challenge, it looks like I'll be able to do on my 9 or 10th attempt but I wish it wasn't so stacked against Dark Armour, whereas an /Elec Scrapper might even be able to do it on just SOs (Ok, a bit of an exagerration.).

Any other ways to test my build that don't include copious amount of energy damage? Haha.
  4. Awesome progress. See, to me, a high recharge Empathy build has a lot of promise with being able to have the RAs up half the time and such. I've got a level 38 Emp/Sonic that was part of a Empathy duo and I've always wondered about respeccing him for a solo build and this thread has really got me considering it.
  5. I just respecced my Claws/Dark Scrapper and am now thinking about dropping Oppressive Gloom. I find that it really isn't benefiting my survivability anymore now that I've IO'd my Claws/DA out a little bit, but it is hindering my kill speed as mobs wander out of my Spin/Death Shroud range.

I am at a loss as to what to replace it with. I could replace it with a travel power (which I currently lack) and move slots over to 6-slot Swipe. I could put Shockwave in its place, but I don't really like Shockwave and the TAoE sets kinda... suck. I could throw in CoF and slot something like Cloud Senses but I'm uncomfortable with the extra endurance that would use. I've even considered picking up Soul Transfer for the once in a while that might come in handy (which would happen with the slow animation for Dark Regeneration.) Here is my build: (The only things I don't have in the build right now is: One set of Obliteration in Death Shroud. I went with Multi-Strike until I get some more funds, the LotGs because I sold two to fund the rest of the build, the Miracle in heal and the Razzle Dazzle triple because NO ONE is selling it. Haha.)

Really? I found that Fissure does only slightly less damage per activation than fireball and yet it recharges quite a bit faster AND it has a chance of stun.

Biospark, if I were you, I'd recommend going with Fire/Cold/Earth. I like the damage potential more with Fire/Storm/Earth but the endurance drain would be brutal. At least with Fire/Cold/Earth, once you get a good amount of recharge, having Heat Loss up over 50% of the time will counter a lot of the endurance woes. As well, having good to soft-capped S/L defense and having your Imps close to soft capped will go a long way towards great, sustained AoE output. Team with a Fire/Kin and you'll be laughing. I've been playing around with a Fire/Cold/Ice build that I should start messing around with again. I was trying to get perma-Heat Loss with capped S/L but it wasn't quite there... Hmm.

Oh, and Biospark, by the way, I liked reading your Solo Empathy thread. Wish you'd post more regular updates with stories about your adventures.
  7. Smoke Stacked, my DM/FA Brute now has the basic armour still the normal fire colours but I set all the DM attacks and my other shields to different greys so it looks like she's using Smoke offensively.
  8. I have to say that with a Scrapper's much lower HP and HP Cap than Brutes or Tankers, you'll get much less benefit maximizing HP and more from going for Typed defense and recharge.

Will this toon do enough damage to be playable at higher levels?

And no, the thread title won't be his actual name.
I'm going to say go with a Brute. My recommendation would be a SR or WP Brute. I also recommend picking up fighting and going with Boxing in the chain to build Fury. Use SP, Brawl, Smite and Boxing to build up your fury and then let loose.
  10. Hey, I figured I'd start a for fun thread rather than a powergaming, numbers thread.

This one is about your favourite Scrappers and why. I'm going to say let's limit it to 3 Scrappers you love and one that you're not digging so much. I'll go first.

    1) Claws/Dark Armour. I have to put Black Bellatrix as number one on my list for most fun. This is actually a recent change and it's partly because of i16 that she's able to take the top spot. Having larger spawns makes her feel a lot more powerful and endurance friendly. She just seems to offer a bit of everything. Decent single target and AoE, a ranged attack which is so great for runners and a fantastic heal. I feel like a blender when I go into radio missions and I love taking a couple friends into a Carnie mission set at +2/x8 and watching them hesitate while I dive straight into a huge group and mulch them.

    2) Dark Melee/Fiery Armour. This one is only level 22 (with a Brute counterpart at 10) and I can tell already that this is going to be one of my favourite toons. I'm playing both of them, the Brute and the Scrapper, without Stamina and am just going to rely on Dark Consumption and Consume. I can see once this guy gets IO'd out, he may replace Bella as my favourite. The two sets just have so much synergy and there is always lots to do. It's fun actually taking damage and just using Siphon Life and Healing Flames to shrug it off. Already, I don't feel I need Stamina and that's with Dark Consumption only 3 slotted and Consume with only one slot. It's only going to get better as they get slotted up and I pack more global recharge into the build. I really can't wait for Soul Drain and Fiery Embrace as well. Just an amazingly fun combo.

    3) Katana/Electric Armour. This one is still a lowbie but as soon as I picked up Divine Avalanche, I could tell I was going to be enjoying him. His AoE is quite good but he is a little squishy right now. I'm sure that will get better with age, however. He's also going the No Stamina route, but I think I might dual build into Stamina at 20 and then at 36, switch builds back and just use Power Sink and Energize. I think he'll require more strategy to play as far as timing Energize and such, but he already seems like he'll be a beast. I can't wait until he gets higher up.

Now, as far as my least liked Scrapper that I actually played to a decent level, I'd have to say:

    1) Martial Arts/Super Reflexes. He's sitting at 39 right now and I know he's on the cusp of going from "Meh" to being halfway decent. It's just depressing when I run a mission in the RWZ and I'm fighting a Chief Soldier and doing absolutely no damage and then getting hit twice in a row, sending me to the hospital. He's getting close to soft-cap. I'm at 39ish Melee/AoE with 42ish Ranged. Next level will probably see a set of Gaussian's in Focus Chi and then Conserve Power and Physical Perfection (plus two Chance for End procs) will go a long way to fixing his huge endurance problems. I really think something needs to be done about the Smashing damage. I'd go as far to say that some attacks should be hybridized with Psi damage to make them a little more effective. Would make sense with the Focus Chi thing.

You jumped the gun. It was only 23 hours without advice before you bumped it.

I'm thinking if you're both going Dark/Dark, I would recommend skipping CoF but use OG. OG can be stacked with Dark Pit to perma-stun bosses. I really like the bonuses that CoD has and I have it and CJ on my /DA toon. I really recommend taking Death Shroud too. The endurance use isn't so horrible, especially since you'll have Dark Consumption to refill you when you start getting low. The biggest cause of endurance usage is Dark Regen and if you're duoing with a corruptor that will have Twilight Grasp, you should be able to cut its usage down by a fair amount.

Skippable powers in my mind would be CoF and Soul Transfer from /Dark Armour and ToF/Taunt at the minimum from Dark Melee/

Weapons are a costume part. They set the visibilty of your toon to 0, and load a different graphic. That would tell me that, no, you don't see weapons. However, I think you do see the "sparks" and "bubble popping" partical effects would still show.

Again... that's my assumption. Perhaps others are in the know.
I'm going to make an educated guess and verify this as correct. Using Cloak of Darkness, which has the same effect of making you invisible, I can't see my awesome Talsorian or Rularuu claws. out:

IIRC, the Performance Shifter Proc has a chance to give +10 endurance to "target", which means that it'd actually give it to the mobs affected.
  14. My recommendation, and I don't have specific data to back this up, is that you'd probably be best off looking at /Dark Melee. I'd think that the pairing of Fire/Dark or Shield/Dark might be able to do it. I know Super Strength wouldn't primarily because of the damage being all Smashing. With /Dark and a bunch of minions to fuel Soul Drain, you might be all right. It'd be easier to do with Shield/, but with IOs for building up good recharge and a sizeable amount of Melee Defense, I could see taking out Infernal. Especially with the portal in Infernal's mission spawning more demons.

You could also use burn and your damage aura to augment your too low DPS and combine that with Soul Drain and Fiery Embrace.

Yeah, but it's obvious by him saying that the proc was going to be slotted in Stamina, that he did not realize that you can slot more than one.
  16. I've been playing around in Mids, trying to get decent HP/Regen with soft capped to S/L/E/N/F/C and not making it too expensive and this is what I came up with.

Any recommendations? I realize this isn't a damage-heavy build and that's fine with me.

  17. I know you didn't list it in your secondaries but if you're planning on running +0/x8, I'd give a good look at Spines/Dark, especially if you can get your hands on a Theft of Essence: Chance for +End proc. Dark with the Fighting Pool and that proc becomes rather survivable.

    Thanks
The Performance Shifter Proc is actually not a unique IO. So you can slot it both in PP and Stamina. In fact, if you have only one to slot it in, it's better in PP because you get more benefit out of it than a Endurance Mod SO/IO in PP, whereas in Stamina, the difference between the proc and your first End Mod IO is not that huge.

I'l slot it with Performance Shifter Proc and EndMod and two Heal IOs.

While I don't necessarily agree with using 5 piece Doc Wounds rather than 5 piece Touch of the Nictus or 5 piece Theft of Essence, I'm reasonably confident you'll be able to hit enough targets each time to completely refill your hp. You only need to hit 2 targets to get yourself to full, and you're packing 13.9% +tohit and 79% +acc in DR (with FA turned on but the proc removed) which means you'll have just shy of a 95% chance to hit against +4s, discounting FU (which will make it even easier).

The only problem I can really see is that you are nowhere near endurance sustainable. You're only packing 3.91 end/sec (factoring in the Perf Shifter procs, assuming you grab the 4 passive accolades) but you're burning through 2.1 end/sec from your toggles alone. Assuming you go with FU>Evis>Focus>Wait(.396 secs) as your attack string (you don't have the +rech to run FU>Focus>Slash>Wait; of course, you may be intending to use FU>Focus>Slash>Strike for 3.18 end/sec, counting on global +acc and +tohit to account for completely ignoring the slotting otherwise), you'd be burning another 3.33 end/sec. That's a net loss of 1.52 end/sec. You'd only be able to sustain that for 74 seconds before you run out of end. If you conditionally run DS and FA (re: DS for AoE, FA for ST), you'd be able to extend that to 105 seconds, but that's still not very endurance sustainable, especially considering that's ignoring Dark Regen (which would be just barely over endurance neutral at target saturation; with only a single target, you're gonna expect an average cost post proc of 17.5 end).

My biggest recommendation would be to move off of the +def and instead try to hit the +end and +recov a bit harder. See if you can turn some of those Aegis 3 pieces into Impervium Armor 4 pieces. Tweaking some other slotting (re: removing the AH proc from Slash to free up a slot; getting rid of the Perf Shifter EndMod in PP for the Numina Proc), I managed to get your recovery up to 4.4 end/sec so that you'd at least be able to run for more than 115 seconds with both FA and DS on or more than 215 seconds with only one of DS and FA active. Of course, what could help you out the most might be getting rid of something in order to grab Conserve Power (which will most likely do a good bit more for your endurance). Either way, it's gonna be a set of tough choices to make this blue bar burner decently sustainable.
I think I'll probably look at just dropping SJ for Conserve Power. I was worried about that but I also know that as far as endurance sustainability is, right now I'm running a multi-strike slotted DS and no Focused Accuracy but basically the same number of toggles and I'm doing okay as far as endurance goes, considering my pace and the inspirations that drop but I can understand situations where having better endurance sustainability will matter a lot more. I think I'm going to go for it.

Actually, I believe it would have a 10% chance to fire PER target affected by Cloak of Fear every 10 seconds. If you can get good accuracy, fear and endurance reduction numbers in 5 slots of Cloak of Fear, then I say, sure, the 6th could be of a benefit with Siphon Insight.
  21. I'm going to go ahead and bump this. I'll give it another 8 hours or so until I just go ahead and respec into this build. Thanks in advance.

I think I'd have trouble burning through my blue bar every 30 seconds, and that's only with SOs, no Hasten factored in and just counting on PS. I think it's pretty doable.
  23. Hey there. I have a level 50 Claws/DA that the new difficulty settings have really given me a renewed will to play. My knowledge with Mids has increased quite a bit and I have cobbled together a build that I think I'd like to spec into. I just wanted to throw it on the boards for a quick lookover before I do.

First thing to note: I do not like Shockwave. Yes, you may think it's the best power ever created but I just don't share that opinion, so it won't be making it in the build.

Second thing to note: I decided to go for 5x Doctored Wounds in Dark Regen with my Theft of Essence Proc. I figured with Focused Accuracy, my global accuracy and the Kismet Unique, I'd be sitting pretty as far as being able to hit enough targets with it. Please let me know if this assumption is erroneous. (I'd prefer math to back it up, just because I know a lot of people who advocate overslotting accuracy, which I don't agree with.)

Third: My main goals with this build are a decent amount of recharge and a nice, extra layer of defense. Specifically melee defense being one luck away from soft-cap. I'm not looking to farm or to solo AVs without inspirations.

So, with that being said, any obvious oversights?
