Dark/Dark Brute-Corruptor Duo

Brother and I have a concept for a Dark/Dark Brute/Corrupter that we are running with, but I'm kind of confused on how to best approach my Brutes build. Most of my experience comes with Corruptors (with 1 lvl 50 SS/ELA Brute).

First question is about the Endurance Issues associated with Dark. Debating whether I should go with CJ over CoD and also what to do about CoF and Death Shroud. With the Corruptor throwing our Fearsome Stare, I'm not sure why I would need CoF and don't know if OG should be taken in its place of if I should just skip them both all together.

Second, is there anything that is considered a "must have" from the Pool Sets, other than my Travel and Fitness pool that is. Fighting, Leadership, Medicine?

Any advice will be helpful. Just keep in mind that this will be almost 95% duo (as with most of our toons).

Thanks in Advance.

Wow, this forum is really dying. I remember a time when a post asking for help would have about 10 responses within an hour. Now 24 hours without any advice what-so-ever.

Looks like CoX is on its last leg. : (

You jumped the gun. It was only 23 hours without advice before you bumped it.

I'm thinking if you're both going Dark/Dark, I would recommend skipping CoF but use OG. OG can be stacked with Dark Pit to perma-stun bosses. I really like the bonuses that CoD has and I have it and CJ on my /DA toon. I really recommend taking Death Shroud too. The endurance use isn't so horrible, especially since you'll have Dark Consumption to refill you when you start getting low. The biggest cause of endurance usage is Dark Regen and if you're duoing with a corruptor that will have Twilight Grasp, you should be able to cut its usage down by a fair amount.

Skippable powers in my mind would be CoF and Soul Transfer from /Dark Armour and ToF/Taunt at the minimum from Dark Melee/

I don't see you having many endurance issues if you make use of Dark Consumption from your primary. The Dark Corruptor will be providing plenty of mitigation with Darkest Night, Fearsome Stare, etc.

If this were me, then I'd try and get alot of defense since the Corruptor should have Shadow Fall (~5-6% def when slotted) and Darkest Night (-15%+ tohit debuff)...and possibly Manuevers. You could grab Cloak Darkness and Weave for an additional 10 -12% defense combined. Shadow Fall, from the corr, should cap your Neg. Energy Resistance, nearly cap Psi Resis and give you another 15%-20% resis for Energy (which is NEEDED on a /dark brute).

If you plan to take Touch of Fear from your primary then I wouldn't bother with CoF, even though it offers another source of -tohit, but you'll have plenty of that from Fearsome Stare, Dark Servant and Darkest Night from the Corr. CoF for Brutes Fears minons and LTs, so you would only need to hit the Boss with Touch of Fear to "lock down" the mob.

OG is always a nice pick-up since the endurance cost is neglible and is very effective source of mitigation. Tar Patch for the corr will help prevent critters from wandering too far when stunned.

You two should be a pretty effective combo.

p.s. You posted at 12:48 AM on the weekend and not many brute players use Dark Armor. I bet if you had asked about WP, Shields, etc...you might have had a few more responses.

Appreciate the advice from both of you. I wasn't trying to complain about not getting a response immediately. Just making a observation that after 1 year away from the game, participations seems to have dropped of a bit.

Good stuff already. I personally tried both CoF and OG, and hated them both. Death Shroud shouldn't be skipped, although putting it off until after Stamina is certainly doable. As for pool powers, Fighting helps a lot. DA's smash/lethal resists aren't spectacular, and Tough/weave stack very nicely with your armors and Cloak of Darkness. Since you're duoing with a dark/dark corruptor, you might want to grab touch of fear (I skipped it) to stack on bosses. The good news is, if they stay relatively close to you, you don't have to use dark regeneration as much, which is a major end drain on a dark armor character.

Depending on playstyle, I'll suggest something that I would almost never normally suggest: taunt. If your partner tends to draw aggro ad get in close range, throwing a taunt to get enemies off them is quick and easy. I don't recommend tanking in general with brutes (they're far better brutes than tanks) but taunt can be the difference between a live team and a dead corruptor. Bonus, if you plan on heavy IO slotting: Perfect Zinger and Triumphant Insult are both relatively cheap, and give +recharge and + DEF(smash/lethal/melee.) Cheap way to add a bit more effectiveness to your brute.
