  1. So Castle should in no way balance peacebringers while keeping the inherent buff from teammates in mind?
  2. Quote:
Slotting should not have any bearing on this equality because 2*3*4= 4*3*2. We know that when you multiply both sides of the equation by a constant the equation remains true.
Right, but that's not what we're dealing with.

You stated: (1.125 * 1.1) = 1.2375 = (.75 * 1.65) which is true. But when we add in 95% damage buff from enhancements to both sides, the value they reach changes:
    Scrapper: (1.125 * (1+.95)) * 1.1 = 2.413125
    Brute: .75 * (1+.65 + .95) = 1.95

So to answer your question: Base * (1+ALL Damage Buffs) * Scaler and the crit value is only applied after all the rest is calculated.

Again, fury is nothing more than more damage buff and is calculated as such.

But the rep comment was regarding your flawed position on the obsolete rep system we had. You know? How it graded the worth of a poster? I'm glad it was abolished so posters can't falsely boast their opinions with it.

As for proliferating EM, no one ever said anything about proliferating Stalker EM to scrapper. That's just dumb when there's a perfectly good version that requires no new powers on the Brute and Tanker ATs. That people request it proliferated flies in the face of the argument that such ST focused sets aren't desirable or used. Or are you arguing that no one wants to play EM or EM is no longer a used set? Because I'll gladly prove you wrong.
The removal of the rep system doesn't negate the fact that for many posters the level of their rep was accurate with their usefulness on the forums. There were, of course, exceptions usually easily determined by the number of posts found in the forum games section as well as those with maxed out negative rep usually being there as per personal request.

Back on point, yes, prove me wrong. Prove that the number of characters being created with EM now is just as high as it was before the ET nerf across tanks and brutes. Please, give me that data, I'd love to see it.

For my part, I've created one brute that used EM since the nerf that was intended to be taken blueside. She was deleted before she hit 30.

A crit causes the attack in question to do double the final damage.

Fury is nothing more than more damage buff, no different than build up or damage enhancements.

Scrapper: (Base damage * (1+damage buff)) * 2 = damage done when crit fires

Brute: (Base damage * (1+damage buff including fury)) = damage done

EDIT: What I did above was to show Average damage output. A 10% crit rate changes that *2 to *1.1 as a 15% crit rate, like on claws/eviscerate would be *1.15 when averaging out damage.

This is relevant to the statement you quoted.

PS: How's that rep workin' for ya
1: I hit the New Posts. I've been watching this thread for a while. It's of course no surprise to anyone that you'd fail to grasp something that simple. Not that I haven't nor won't in the future search off of my name. "bill z" shows me any replies made to any post I've made. As for being vain, it's hard not to be when there's people like you around with which to compare myself.

2: Apparently my reputation around here is just fine. Unlike you, I'm rarely called out for being completely ignorant.

3: I'm in the crowd that wants everything proliferated that makes sense to proliferate. An opinion apparently shared by many in that thread. My point stands: Stalker EM ain't EM. It's EM with its only AoE yanked. Nobody wants that. The other half of the point stands as well. Far fewer scrappers are clamoring for EM's proliferation since the ET nerf. We used to see a new thread on it weekly. Not so much anymore.

This is about as idiotic an argument as when BillZ said Stalker shouldn't be considered when thinking of ways to rebalance Energy Melee. If your argument is to invalidate an AT, you've just lost.
    ahhh, someone's getting pissy.

    Quote:
Yet it doesn't. Otherwise, no one would be playing Energy Melee and no Scrapper would be asking for it to be proliferated.
Scrappers don't want stalker EM proliferated. They want the real EM proliferated. Or at least did before the ET nerf.

1: They got sick of explaining that?

2: Cuz scrappers like me griped enough at the baked in redraw penalty causing our sets to lag behind the non-weapon sets as badly as they did.

I wish more people could have experienced claws they way it was on test before Castle added the damage tweak. It was glorious. I still miss it.
  10. You can't use those threads (you actually linked the same one twice) to discuss overall output. They are ONLY for top end sustained damage against hard targets like AVs and Pylons and completely ignore aoe output.

There were several reasons that I had them unstickied. This is one of them.

If you're going to pick the spot where fury equalizes against scrapper damage, you have to make a LOT of assumptions including averaging out uptime on damage buffs.

Starting with no buffs, no crits, no enhancements.
    .75*(1+x) = 1.125
    x=.5 or 25% fury

    Add enhancements.
    .75*(1+.95+x) = 1.125*(1+.95)
    .75+.7125+.75x = 2.19375
    x=.975 or 48.75% fury

    For 5% crit rate
    .75*(1+.95+x) = (1.125*(1+.95))*1.05
    .75+.7125+.75x = 2.3034375
    x=1.12125 or 56.0625% fury

    With 10% crit rate
    .75*(1+.95+x) = (1.125*(1+.95))*1.1
    .75+.7125+.75x = 2.413125
    x=1.2675 or 63.375% fury

So where is that 60% coming from? Looks like crits are being average out at 7.5% of the time. Notice what's missing from the calculations so far? Yup, buildup, followup, soul drain, against all odds, etc. It's also ignoring those scrapper attacks with a 15% crit rate.

Now I didn't ignore those things at all when I did those DPS comparison threads, but I stated at the beginning of this post what I DID ignore and I don't think Anything should be ignored if you're really trying to get a handle on where brute and scrapper damage is at comparatively right now.

There's three points I want folks to take from this post:

1: A proper comparison of brute/scrapper damage output is going to take into account damage buff up time, a more accurate crit rate, a more accurate average fury level which will include variations for spawn sizes and a proper look at aoe output coupled with the other items I just mentioned.

2: The Results Are In threads were ONLY made to study top end attack chains against lone hard targets like AVs and Pylons and should not ever be used for any other purpose.

3: As a true study with accurate models is probably beyond the abilities of 99.99999% of us, myself definitely included, here's my gut feeling based on purely anecdotal evidence:

Brutes win on leveling speed. Scrappers look better doin it. Crits are cooler than fury. Brutes can take more hits. Play the one that feels better to you.
  11. Cuz you always been an ebil goat, NG.

I find redraw to be very annoying even though it isn't supposed to slow anything down
For the most part, this is no longer true. Redraw DOES now cause a decrease in DPS.

The sets that I know this to be true for are claws, mace and dual blades. I *think* that axe was also corrected in this way but my memory is fuzzy lately.

In a nutshell, once upon a time the redraw time was baked into the animation times for all weapon sets. This meant that redraw or no, your DPS for a given chain was supposed to be the same.

A while back, Castle and BAB went through and yanked those baked in redraws which sped up the sets, some more than others. In the case of claws, Castle felt that the change was so radical that he had to add on a damage tweak based on Claw's cast times.

So now if you have an attack chain with an attack that causes redraw, you're decreasing your DPS output considerably.
  13. All I gots iz style!

What amuses me about all the Stupid Scrapper Tricks is pondering all the number crunching and build and tactics sharing that occurred over the years to make it all happen.

We've all spent a lot of time helping each other get better at flipping out and killing things and I thank yall for it.

Does getting closer to the 2400 depend on your power choice for scrapper?
My I-19 build for BZB (claws/sr) has him at 1913 HP. So there's room for improvement if you're at 1700.

Whoa.. Dooomguide, you hit 1953? Nice. What's your regen at?

    New Merits....

I've got 18 days left of farming to get my +3% def PvP IO and my +3% DR PvP IO at 3-3.5 hours a night. About an hour to farm the 50 reward merits, another half hour for 5 tip missions and the morality mission on the night it's available. Do this on my two main characters. Email the IO earned on the second character to the first when done.

After that, I can go back to actually playing the game instead of farming it. Total cost of these two IOs?

    24 days
    960 million inf
    2400 reward merits
    72 game hours
    Or something like that.

While I could farm for the inf (4 billion versus 960 million) and place bids on the market, I seriously doubt I'd have them both pop up within the next 18 days.

Actually I believe you are correct, I messed that up. You definitely can not slot damage resistance in the passives. Each passive does max out at about 20%, I say about because I think it's actually just shy of that when you have 5 or so health left leaving your resistance just shy of 60% right before you keel over if you have all 3 passives. Plead guilty to typing a bit faster than I should have.
As much as I enjoy the thematic feel of the passive scaling dam-res, having it be static and slotable for dam-res I still think would have been a better decision for SR.
  20. It does, but you would have to rebind it to do so. Plenty of folks use the numpad in all manner of ways.
  21. My memory is failing badly today it seems. Thought bosses were up there with AVs on base accuracy but I see that I was very wrong.

    Understood.
  23. I find it odd that his tohit and accuracy are identical to yours.

I'm more inclined to believe that surveillance itself is messed up.

If he actually had a 64% tohit buff on top of a 1.3 accuracy, he'd be hitting my SR scrapper a hell of a lot more than he does, and I've fought him quite a few times over the last week.

Edit: You say that surveillance shows most critters have base 50% tohit? That'd make sense as they do. IF this is accurate, then the Demolisher would have a 14% tohit buff which I could see as working as intended. Still don't get that accuracy buff.... unless he conned as an LT instead of a boss. Do you have bosses disabled?
  24. There are no lemon scrappers.

The most survivable scrapper depends on the enemies you plan on fighting.

When it comes to slotting with nothing but SOs, all of the scrapper combos are pretty dang well balanced across the board.

So... all things being equal: dark melee/invulnerable IOed to the gills.

    Edited for brainfart.
