Weapon brutes and patron pools

Do weapon brutes (like war mace or battle axe) presumably put away their weapons (and have to redraw them) when using patron powers? In particular, I have a mace brute and I wondered if he could keep out the same mace if I take Black Scorpion's line.

I figure I already know the answer but it couldn't hurt to check.

The Patron powers always cause redraw, so you would put away your mace and draw the other one whenever you wanted to use one of those powers.

I find redraw to be very annoying even though it isn't supposed to slow anything down, so I tend to skip the Patron powers with weapon sets or pick energy mastery now for Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection.

For the most part, this is no longer true. Redraw DOES now cause a decrease in DPS.

The sets that I know this to be true for are claws, mace and dual blades. I *think* that axe was also corrected in this way but my memory is fuzzy lately.

In a nutshell, once upon a time the redraw time was baked into the animation times for all weapon sets. This meant that redraw or no, your DPS for a given chain was supposed to be the same.

A while back, Castle and BAB went through and yanked those baked in redraws which sped up the sets, some more than others. In the case of claws, Castle felt that the change was so radical that he had to add on a damage tweak based on Claw's cast times.

So now if you have an attack chain with an attack that causes redraw, you're decreasing your DPS output considerably.

Wait, what was their rationale for that? I remember when they used to spend a lot of time saying redraw didn't affect DPS etc. I don't get it.

1: They got sick of explaining that?

2: Cuz scrappers like me griped enough at the baked in redraw penalty causing our sets to lag behind the non-weapon sets as badly as they did.

I wish more people could have experienced claws they way it was on test before Castle added the damage tweak. It was glorious. I still miss it.
