Quote:I think(atleast I hope)they might replace Night Falls with Dark Obliteration and replace Tenebrous Tentacles with Build Up.Seeing Nightfall just nixed the idea of Dark Blast ever coming to Blasters (for now)
My wish list
1. Dark Blast
2. Gloom
3. Moonbeam
4. Dark Pit
5. Aim
6. Dark Obliteration
7. Torrent
8. Life Drain
9. Blackstar -
I was playing with my fire/kin corr with power mastery and I was very happy with it. It was weird playing on the hero side and getting buffs from an emp and being treated as a blaster.
-
Quote:I like sonic more that fire because Sonic has a -resist and it seems like your attacks are getting stronger since the resist is being reduced. Sonic also has a nice stun attack. the stun is a very short duration; however it is enough to get one free hit. Fire is great for a different reason. Fire hits hard and has a fast attack chain. Also having snipe is nice to have when the heroes dont want to leave the protection of the drones. Thanks, Both of these were helpful. I have a couple of questions though:
First, how is a corr. played in PvP? Like a blaster that can buff itself or a defender that can fight for itself?
Next, why sonic>fire? does one do more damage then the other? What are the pro's and cons?
Thanks guys... so much has changed since I last played.
As for play style I dont buff when I am using my zone build, so I play like a blaster with a self heal and focus mainly on damage output and incoming damage mitigation. When I do a buffing build I play almost like a defender, but I will throw in an attack or two when I do not have to heal and try to get the scourge kill.
P.S. Also a sonic/therm is real nice like TrueDarkLord mentioned, but I am a fan of the Pain -
I have a few Corruptors and the one I feel the most comfortable playing in the PvP zones is my Rad/Pain. Rad is not the best attack but I think its one of the top 3 for corrs. I believe fire and sonic are better than rad for zone PvP. The bubble from soothing aura makes you a big target, but changing the color to black makes it less noticable. I focused on HP, recharge and regen. My current regen is around 37ish hp/sec with a 1507 HP. I built my Rad/Pain for Duels and zone PvP. I also have a team build that I selected buffs if needed.
I do like dark secondary; however IMO it is better for duels. Whenever I see a dark in zone and I am on my tanker or brute I always call them as a target, taunt and then run out of range. Then they cannot heal since the are taunted to me and I am not near them. They become an easy spike target in zone IMO. -
I am starting to think of trying it again and do another all human WS build for PvP. When I did it the first time I selected powers that were similar to the PB's for PvP and it failed. I want to try to build it like a WS this time and not a PB.

I have been PvPing with a human form PB for a while now. I took him from 0-400 rep and then I took a break on him. Once I came back to PvP with my peacebringer again I took him from 90 back to 400 rep. I do have a few hundred hours of experience PvPing with a PB and I do have Light Form in my build. I use it mainly for duels, but I also use it when I am getting spiked. I love it when I do use it because nobody knows what attack I am doing because I am a ball of light. I also use it when I fight a thermal because it gives me some +endurance, but not enough to keep toggles up. It is just enough to get to a safe location before toggles drop.
I had tough on my build for a while, but when I team with blasters and scrappers my resist goes up and tough is a wasted toggle. I PvP on freedom and there is no shortage of scrappers and blasters in RV. I decided to get leadership instead of fighting power pool. I like the perception in tactics I get and +tohit. I picked maneuvers for the LoTG and KB protection proc. I did not get vengeance in my build, but I might get it if I respec. I currently have Radiant Strike and I barely use it so I might get better use with vengeance since I have good survival tools and I can just use it off a fallen team member.
PvPing with a Human PB is like the same concept as a Blapper, just less damage. Since the attacks are -defense you can slot with nice procs.
Range Procs
Apoc Proc - Chance for Negative Energy Dam
Gladiator's Javelin - Chance for Toxic Dam
-Defense Procs
Shield Breaker - Chance for Lethal Damage
Touch of Lady Grey - Chance for Negative Energy Dam
Melee Procs
Touch of Death - Chance for NE Damage
Mako's Bite - Chance for Lethal Damage
Hecatomb - Chance for Negative Energy Dam
Gladiator's Strike - Chance for Smashing Dam
You can even use Solar Flare as a -resist debuff by adding:
Fury of the Gladiator - Chance for -Resistance
Achilles' Heel - Chance for Resistance Debuff
Human PB may do less damage than most aggressive AT's, but we are able to proc our damage a lot and it makes a huge difference. On my most recent build I have gleaming bolt (the weakest single target range attack) slotted with 2 ACC/Dam Hami's, 1 apoc proc, 1 shield breaker proc, 1 glad jav proc and 1 touch of lady grey proc and it takes an attack that does an average of 70 pts of damage to almost 400 when they all proc at the same time.
... Oops I got carried away and lost track of topic. IMO light form is nice to have but not needed. It can help you in a pinch and is great for duels and tough is a wasted toggle.

Quote:AR is better for PvE than PvP like others have mentioned above. If you are looking for a PvP/PvE build and you want to use a weapon I suggest Archery over Assault Rifle. Archery is by far not the best set for PvP, but it is fun to play. You would have to do 2 build like I did for PvP and PvE. I did a cheap build with cheap IO's for around 600 mil for PvE that consist of Fistful of Arrows, Explosive Arrow, Rain of Arrows, and Static Discharge(Elec Mastery). I feel like I can really add something to a large team with the damage.I keep toying around with it but can't decide if I'd rather go PvE or PvP, anyone have a build that can handle both?
Thanks.
For PvP I focused mainly on single target attacks and selected Cold Mastery for hibernate and hoarfrost. Snap Shot, Aimed Shot, Blazing Arrow, Ranged Shot, Aim, and Stunning Shot is what I selected for my primary powers for archery. -
Quote:Can we please get back on topic and leave the insults out?I have not called him a bad player. I stated that anyone playing a kheldian the same way they play a scrapper is doing it wrong. I'm sorry, but that's how it is. A kheldian is simply not a scrapper.
My first reply to Mod Noc was constructive criticism aimed at helping someone avoid a problem they are experiencing. I made no initial mention of his apparent laziness until he became obstinate and refused to accept that his strategy might be the source of his problems.
Back on topic: I do not mind the KB on the Solar Flare when I am soloing. It help make room between myself and the NPC I am fighting. In a team I mainly use single target attacks since I am an All human PB and I play like a Blapper. I do use it when a Controller is on a team and the group is immob and I know they wont fly away everywhere. -

Survivability is the reason I PvP with my PB. The self heals, armor, and phase is the reason I play one. I may not be able to dish out a lot of damage, but I can survive for a while and if my target does not have a self heal and they dont run I can chip away at their HP and kill them. I like how when a Stalker ASs me when I have Essence Boost on and they only take ¼ HP. Once I had a Stalker AS me and right after he wrote this in broadcast ??? and then he wrote brb gonna respec I was laughing at my keyboard for 20 min.

My order of Favorite Blasters
1 Psi/Em
2 Fire/Em
3 Sonic/Em
4 Rad/Em
5 Everything else -
I have seen a Dark/Sonic Defender beat a crap load of blasters and a few of them were Psi/EM's. Each fight was an arena match with insp turned on the small ones and the crazy part was that the defender did not have an escape power like phase.
-
I have done a few ITF's with my Elec/WP stalker on mixed teams and once I received a tell from a scrapper calling me a show off....lol. I usually wait for the aggro magnet or mezzer to go in first then I am second to go in.
Attack Chain on a team.
Lightning Rod + Thunder Strike + Ball Lightning + Jacobs Ladder = Lots of damage -
My Go-To Character is my Peacebringer.

My upgraded all human build for PvP...
I tried to do a Tri form and I had trouble with slotting issues, Then I switched to a Human/Dwarf build and I hate to retoggle up after switching. I decided to make an all human build and slot it the best I can. When I zone PvP I like to be on a team since I get buffs for each member on the team. Since there are a lot of Scrappers and Blasters in zone I get a nice resistance buff. I have been on a team with Defenders and Tankers only and had a nice damage buff.
I picked up Gleaming Bolt since I had one power choice and didnt know what to get. I know that sounds weird for a Kheldian to have a extra power after all powers were picked. I am glad I got it, because the way I slotted it helps me out in PvP. 2 HO's, 3 Damage Procs and a Hold Proc. The average damage of the attack is 70 points of damage and with the procs it surprises players and I use it a lot since it recharges fast.
70(pwr dmg) + 70(proc dmg) + 70(proc dmg) + 100(proc dmg) = 310 dmg(on average)
I basically built my PB with a blaster in mind. I know I do a lot less damage compared to a blaster, but my power pools are what I select on my blasters.
Power pools are:
Speed
Hasten
Super Speed
Fitness
Hurdle
Health
Stamina
Leaping
Combat Jump
Super Jump
Acro
Leadership
Maneuvers
Tactics
Picked Quantum Flight for my phase escape in zone and I use it when I get jumped. I always forget that it wastes a lot of end and I have to fly to safety and flight is very slow. I also use essence boost whenever it is up so I have 2154 hp and stalker AS's only take away 1/4 of my HP and I am back to 100% after using reform essence that recharges every 28 seconds. I usually sit around 1550 HP without essence boost and that is when I am most cautious. Essence Boost has a down time of 45 seconds on my build. I went with PvP IO's since I had them on another toon that reached 400rep and I just stripped that AT and placed them on my PB. My PB now has 400 rep and I dont want to strip him now since I have to much fun on him.
I hope this could help you a little bit in deciding how to build your PB for PvP. -
Quote:OMG... Dont do it!!!I love WS so much, and i just recently got interested in PvP. So im gonna make a PvP WS
If anyone has any tips theyd like to share or anything thatd be great. Ive already looked over the pvp warshade guide to get a little idea of how thisll work. I wanna make a human form WS cuz i feel that the shapeshifting is just to slow for pvp, and the forms move to slow to catch the runaways. yeah yeah yeah ik stun them GW them but still i want a human form. I tried making a fotm toon for pvp but hes only at lvl 15. . . illl have more fun leveling a WS cuz theyre AWESOME. So yeah tips would be great. Ill post up a mids build i had in mnd, and for slotting ill just use commmon IOs and maybe some of you could help me with slotting.
Seriously WS are not as good as PB's in PvP. I spent Billions building my WS to PvP and he died faster than any other toon I have ever brought into the PvP zones. I can see it if you stay in squid form and just attack from the sky. You might do ok there, but overall my all human PB plays 100x better than my WS in PvP. -
I came up with an idea kinda like that a few years ago, but it wasnt as thought out. I would love to play a powerset like that!!
P.S. I think the Devs try to stay away from animials as pets because it simulates animal abuse or some other corny reason. -
Quote:I love to team with my PB because of the team buffs I get for each member. I was able to tank the AV's on a ITF because there were 2 blaster and 2 scrappers on the team and it made my resist go way up. Its even better in zone PvP because there is mainly blasters and scrappers in the zone. When ever I enter a PvP zone I invite all heavy damage AT and my resist goes to around 50-55%. Keeps my @$$ alive.- teams make you awesome (as of i13, this is true of all khelds, not just human-only). on the right team your damage will approach scrapper levels, as should your survivability. Solo...meh, you can, but kheldians in general are really meant to team (look at their inherent). as every mission YOU have will contain a void, quantum, or cyst, you'll find you can't solo some of the higher difficulty settings, despite being able to survive them easily on teams.

Anyone have a Claws/Regen Build for fight clubbin? I guess I could dust off my scrapper I made in 2005 and remove the SO's and slot him up to do something.
-
lol... After reading this I now feel bad because I PvP with a Peacebringer, Archery/Devices Blaster and a WP/Stone Tanker. Atleast I cant get blamed for using FoTM...hehe
-
I agree that the PB will win over the WS in a PvP match.

I named my
1. Fortunata named Katipo
2. Bane named Red Katipo
3. Widow named Black Katipo
4. Crab Name White Katipo (I know White does not exist, but I was on a roll)
I made them before duel builds came out.
*Copied from the internet*KATIPO: Latrodectus katipo, the katipo, is an endangered species of spider native to New Zealand. A member of the genus Latrodectus, it is related to the Australian redback spider, and the North American black widow spiders. The species is venomous to humans, capable of delivering a comparatively dangerous spider bite. Katipo is a Māori name and means "night-stinger". It is a small to medium-sized spider with the female having a distinctive black body with a white bordered red stripe on its back.
