Any ideas for Ar/Dev?
AR is the worst blast set in PvP, hands down, so that should answer your question right there.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Well, if you absolutely MUST take an AR/dev into PvP, here's a build I did for both pve and pvp.
It's got good recharge, some +damage and +accuracy and decent perception.
But if you're serious about going into PvP with your ar/dev, I'd grab Cold Mastery instead for Hoarfrost and Hibernate.

But if you're serious about going into PvP with your ar/dev, I'd grab Cold Mastery instead for Hoarfrost and Hibernate. |
Basically, start again from scratch. It will be quicker to fix it that way.
CoH PvP SG = SuperUnion - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
CoV PvP VG = Disruption - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
Global = @Rent & @Rent.
Playgroup are all **** - Global Handle
And more HP, KB protection, Super Jump, better slotting, better use of enhancements and probably more if i opened up the build.
Basically, start again from scratch. It will be quicker to fix it that way. |
You can't have both pvp and pve on the same character.
Just make a pvp character and take it into pve.
That's one of the reasons why we have dual builds.

I keep toying around with it but can't decide if I'd rather go PvE or PvP, anyone have a build that can handle both?
Thanks. |
For PvP I focused mainly on single target attacks and selected Cold Mastery for hibernate and hoarfrost. Snap Shot, Aimed Shot, Blazing Arrow, Ranged Shot, Aim, and Stunning Shot is what I selected for my primary powers for archery.

Assault Rifle is the best set for pvp dont let these guys fool you, they're just trying to keep it for themselves. Mod08 told me at comicon that they buffed Full Auto's damage base to over 9000!
No, no, no and no. Don't waste your time and influence in building an AR/Dev to PvP with. You will just be disappointed by how incredibly bad it will be.

I would suggest against ar/dev for low damage no buildup or aim.
you might get lucky in zones if you stealth around and snipe almost dead stalkers or corrupters..
It's doable, I have a AR/Dev that goes into PvP.....it's nothing amazing and a pain in the *** most of the time BUT.
1. Be a Team Oriented build....don't kid yourself, your a Defender that has the misfortune of being called a Blaster. Get the Leadership Pool (at least assault and tactics), Smoke Grenade, Surveillance and Cryo (from Munitions Mastery) at Higher Levels, maybe first aid pool as well. Given the choice between helping the team and doing damage, help the team.
2. Load up on Perception, be the pointman to let your team at least know you saw a stalker for a split second (even with the IO + Targetting Drone + Tactics they'll have more stealth). Caltrops come in handy as well, if you catch a stalker AFK'ing (which is often) just fly towards him, mentally note the spot where he showed up for a second, then caltrop the spot and lay into him. Easy Rep.
3. FLY, FLY, FLY! Your screwed already as it is with AR's painfully long animation and plants, so using SS/SJ is suicide. With Fly you can be Command and Control in the sky calling out targets and picking them off with superior range, plus because AR has no laser effects or anything of the sort, enemies won't be able to trace the damage to you unless they look up to see you. The only downfall is that travel supression only really affects you, and if your putting the heat on anything out there (99.9% of PvP'ers have SS/SJ) they'll easily be able to out run you back to their base. Also, keep Hover handy for when the 'L33T' PvP'ers start throwing tactical sharks at you. Hover will keep you in the air against pretty much everything that isn't a web grenade. Since the ability to buy and make jetpacks watch out too, because for some funny reason a guy with SS/SJ bouncing with his jetpack can outfly you......someone with actual fly. Fortunately for you, you have webnades, just put them on the ground where they belong.
4. Try to IO your build towards +Recharge and +Damage. Your Damage type is shrugged off by almost every PvP build out there, so your only chance is to use Defiance to your advantage. Secondary is +HP and +Ranged Damage Defense, if your being the eye in the sky you don't have to worry about melee.
5. Put your big boy pants on. You're going to be dying, alot.

Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.

Yeah I love good fiction, and a good AR/Dev is truly good fiction.

I'd rather die without pants, especially big ones
Naw, he needs the pants. They'll make a nice parachute to go with fly.
