PvP Corruptor

So, with the open of GR coming, I was thinking of rolling a Cor, though I am very Zone PvP oriented and I do not know to much about the villain side of powers to I wanted to know what builds people suggest. I have heard /dark is good, but should I be looking at another build? I think it will be RV based. Is there any favored build?

Thanks in advance!

PS: I usually play blasters but I am not sure if the blast sets differ any. And if so, what blast sets would be recommended?

sonic/therm is good in all pvp situations, but I your low on funds I'd go sonic/pain

I have a few Corruptors and the one I feel the most comfortable playing in the PvP zones is my Rad/Pain. Rad is not the best attack but I think its one of the top 3 for corrs. I believe fire and sonic are better than rad for zone PvP. The bubble from soothing aura makes you a big target, but changing the color to black makes it less noticable. I focused on HP, recharge and regen. My current regen is around 37ish hp/sec with a 1507 HP. I built my Rad/Pain for Duels and zone PvP. I also have a team build that I selected buffs if needed.

I do like dark secondary; however IMO it is better for duels. Whenever I see a dark in zone and I am on my tanker or brute I always call them as a target, taunt and then run out of range. Then they cannot heal since the are taunted to me and I am not near them. They become an easy spike target in zone IMO.

Thanks, Both of these were helpful. I have a couple of questions though:

First, how is a corr. played in PvP? Like a blaster that can buff itself or a defender that can fight for itself?

Next, why sonic>fire? does one do more damage then the other? What are the pro's and cons?

Thanks guys... so much has changed since I last played.

I like sonic more that fire because Sonic has a -resist and it seems like your attacks are getting stronger since the resist is being reduced. Sonic also has a nice stun attack. the stun is a very short duration; however it is enough to get one free hit. Fire is great for a different reason. Fire hits hard and has a fast attack chain. Also having snipe is nice to have when the heroes dont want to leave the protection of the drones.

As for play style I dont buff when I am using my zone build, so I play like a blaster with a self heal and focus mainly on damage output and incoming damage mitigation. When I do a buffing build I play almost like a defender, but I will throw in an attack or two when I do not have to heal and try to get the scourge kill.

P.S. Also a sonic/therm is real nice like TrueDarkLord mentioned, but I am a fan of the Pain

Thanks! Very helpful! Whats the difference between the two (/pain or /therm)?

fire, sonic, and rad are good primaries. Secondaires: cold, therm, pain, rad can all work and be better than /dark in pvp imo.

as far as how you play, generally you will want to set the target up (debuffs of any kind you can apply), then start throwing attacks...pretty simple.

Thanks Guys! Very Helpful! Didn't know so many people played Cor's PvP lol... I guess that's who does my blaster in most of the time.

I will go with /Therm... Now I'm just stuck on sonic/ or fire/... I hear all these good things about sonic, but it seems that file also does well. I guess its a battle between damage/snipe or -resist. Which one takes advantage of a cor's inherit in PvP more so then the other?

Personally, I would suggest Fire/. A good majority of what you'll be fighting in RV are going to be Blasters, and I'd say 90% or more of them will have Hibernate. I play a Dark/Cold Corr as my main, and the DoT from Gloom has gotten more kills than I can count after a Blaster hits Hibernate expecting to be invincible. The DoT from fire will work in the same way, except with even better damage than dark blast.

I'd say this is going to be especially useful in a few days when Going Rogue hits.. The only archetypes that won't have access to Hibernate will be Brutes and Tankers (With the exception of Ice Armor Tanks), as well as Epic Archetypes.

shout hits hard, and the -res sets up damage for everyone attacking said target. and scream scourging is nice. even if you go fire, i wouldn't take the snipe(short of a set mule)

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

I too would not take the snipe. Honestly, either you pick will do just fine.
