Clarion and break frees for the win.
The Extinction WW isn't the problem... The lichen-infested one is. Even pulled to where the lichen regen is weakest, unless you have a team who REALLY knows who has what role (you destroy mushrooms, you taunt, you heal, you damage the WW, you keep the DE off our collective butts by either buffing us to all heck OR killing the adds ASAP), you can time out there.
***And, as an afterthought edit, this IS what incarnate stuff is all about... Getting into the thick of it with uber-ZOMG-teh-$uxx0r bad AVs with a million hit points and unresistable THOOM attacks that would liquefy your teeth in situ oro were you 'merely' a hero.
I have no problem with it. We gamed the BAF and now that is the incarnate trial with the most "Master of"s. They made the Lambda relatively straight forward UNLESS you want THAT Master of... then it gets nasty. The Keyes requires big time strategery and a further clarification of "know your role." The Underground, I'd be willing to wager, was a thrilling combonation of math problem, Dev gripe, and NCSoft hazing incident: "Let's see... what is the least taken incarnate ability? Hmm... How can we make them pay for their insolence? Winner DOESN'T have to do a bodyshot of Patron off Posi!"***
Okay, back to your thread. -
depending upon how long they were subscribed before, they have unlocked certain things that the regular f2p player cannot access without buying points for.

A StJ/Elec brute OR an Elec/StJ tank will be my next big dealio upon release of said melee set...
I figure, Toxic resist being completely absent notwithstanding, this build should manage each of the Incarnate Trials with gusto.
BAF- elec resist good for towers and all the IDF meanies, Mu good for minions during escape, and the better than decent S/L resist will help with those pesky Vickies.
Lambda- same as the above, and for Marauder. The whole reason I made my elec/elec brute was after seeing a SS/elec brute SOLO the warehouse in a Lambda.
Keyes- All the above and the self heal will really help for AMs nastiness. Again, Mu will keep all manner of IDF busy while AM gets kited by some tank.
Underground- Just did this about an hour ago with my elec/elec, and the toxic wasn't nearly as big a deal as I thought it would be. Again, StJ will be better against the big hard target uber-WWs than elec has been, so even more useful.
NOW, all I have to do is be patient and wait for the Street Justice set to roll out so I can make this toon happen. -
I gots me heroes, I gots me villains, and I have a few dedicated rogues and one vigilante (a PB no less)... Each side has its merits and flaws. I have to say I prefer the story arcs red side, but like with anything else, the more practice they get, the better the next generation usually is...
-
I had a blast. We didn't get all the badges, true, but the completion of the iTrial, unlike every other attempt I had made up to tonight, was a foregone conclusion.
So much Clarion, so much mega DE and IDF destruction, and once we realized, "hey, Des needs to keep her health up", her bar never dipped under 90 again.
Thanks to everyone, and especially Doctor Turgenev, for the very fun UG run! -
Quote:This is my thought as well... Citadel is an android/cyborgy thing. Can he, in fact, die?I'll say BABs....although I wouldn't mind seeing Citadel dying...then again; he's a robot (cyborg?) and can always be copied so that would be a lame cop out saying, "he's dead!" then, "he's alive again!"
So I assume they are actually going to kill someone...BABs...maybe Manticore.
I think BaBs is an unlikely choice given how much new art was dedicated to him in the new tutorial and character creator. Plus, he's pissed! They took his ZONE! They took his, by now, rather comfortable ever-so-slighty raised dais to stand on and chill...
It is unlikely that States will perish. He is a well-drinker and the face of the CoH franchise. I'm not sure about Manticore though, given he is the "patron" for the budding heroes through Twin Shot's 3 arcs AND he is a TF bestower.
Whle it also seems less than likely to be Synapse, since we got to him in chapter 1 of the SSA, and he's more likely to be on his guard for the remainder of the chapters, that may not be entirely correct. For, on the other hand, he is also one of the easier canon toons to replace due to him being weakened for that very same reason. AND, and here is my rationale for this part, HIS TF really and truly sucks.
His TF is a long, boring, interminably, irritatingly, marrow-suckingly dry Task Force that exists, apparently, to do 3 things:
1) get you the gearsmasher badge
2) spawn Babbage
3) get you 16.66667% closer to the Task Force Commander accolade
Other than that, he's like the old song War -
Okay, lemme put my 2 inf in on this one...
Do you guys have a 50 with all the incarnate stuff unlocked?
Let's say, for the sake of this post, you do.
Now, go to the tailor.
Go to the left and start scrolling...
I'll wait.
Do you see all the choices you have for the judgements? For Lore? For Destiny? Now, the coding, as I understand it, for the color customization is done to mimic THAT, but for the APP and PPP sets.
Still with me?
NOW, imagine you have EVERY patron pool...
Not that large an addition, right? Just 4 sets...
But wait, each AT gets different facets of the PPPs. How do you differentiate on the UI?
NOW, add the APPs... Each of them is different for each AT, AND some have access to certain things that others do not. (Pyre and Fire are different, after all).
So, let us go back to that scrolling bar on the left side at the tailor again...
Can you imagine how long it is now?
Admittedly, the pool powers aren't that many and varied, and they work the same for everyone, so... No real excuse for Leaping/Flight/Maneuvers etc...
But, Leviathan/Soul/Mu/Mace/Pyre/Body/etc., etc...
THAT will take some time and apparently there are other things the bosses wanna do first.
Not saying it is right, or fair, or even a good idea, just trying to help some folks wrap their noggins around the undertaking that APP/PPP customization would be. -
Quote:Um, perhaps not, but there IS some heavy fighting going on in several of the Patron pool arcs.Well Villains don't have to fight statesman to access APPs do they?
Leviathan Mastery for example... the "shortest" of the Patron power arcs, and yet, you fight EBs at the beginning AND the end.
Black Scorpion is the "easiest" of the arcs, and yet, fighting the EB in the power armor at the end is certainly no picnic.
So, who do heroes have to best to gain access to their ancillary powers?
I'll wait...
Yeah, no one.
Hell, you have to fight for a piece of fabric on your shoulders (or get them unlocked, I dig). You have to fight to sparkle or glow or smoulder (or get them unlocked, again, I understand).
I am not complaining about the unfairness... Villains get cool stuff all the time, far more useful as a matter of fact (Mortimer Kal versus Sutter for example), but granting double access... -
True, but SS is a darn fine powerset for tanks that want to hurt things...
-
I agree about the acquisition of other APPs for the various ATs. An elec/elec tank, for example, has to go villain at some point if they want to keep concept and therefore get Mu. Or, a hero elec/elec brute must do the same.
Meh, as long as we get cool stuff... -
-
I notice that they make these notices a) rather small, and b) only allow the German and French language folks to comment.
What, not got the stones to let the English speakers complain too? Or, do the German and French speaking customers complain less?
Let me see... A typical German response to Freitags announcement would be:
Quote:You should compensate us for this... A double exp weekend would nice for us EU folks... We don't spend THAT MUCH money here.. This isn't winning you many customers...Other than the double exp weekend, some Paragon Points or something...Ich finde auch, dass man uns da ein wenig entschädigen könnte.
Gee, sounds JUST like the English speakers...
(sorry, I don't speak French, so, can't say for sure what Avatea told them) -
again... down again... WTF...
-
Thanks Local Man! I will endeavor to keep this one going!
-
Hello, Operator? Um, my book is broken... I can't read past the start screen... What? Open it? Really? Does that, like, 'turn it on'?
-
Just remember, it takes some serious IO slotting to get past the soft-cap with Invul, but it most certainly can be done.
My main, Beorn (an Invul/Energy tank on Virtue) with 1 enemy in range is at 51% S/L and 48% for E/NE. However, it takes a full 8 enemies to get F/C to the soft cap. You kind of have to decide what you think you'll encounter most. -
a thing to note:
Quote:...and realized what he had to do.and realized he had to do.
OR
...and realized he had to do something.
Other than that, yeah, this looks like an Oro or an AE mission ripe for the writing! -
It's also a bug right now. For certain SoAs (widows and crabs I understand) you lose access to things and trying to "force" them can crash the game.
I have a ticket with support about this on my Exalted crab spider even as we type. -
Sorry for the necromancy of this thread, but I was looking for examples of KM/elec (I have every intention on making a brutish tank for incarnate trials, and since Street Justice ain't up yet...)
here is what I have so far:

The brute in question is lvl 10, so, I've not even begun to work with him... -
well, I don't have clarion, but, if you find yourself wanting a decent tank, I have an elec/elec brute that handles the S/L/E attacks with little problem...
I'll happily go on reserve.
EDIT- cobbled together a tier 3 Clarion a few minutes ago... So, I reckon we're good. -
The cold buffs for the Singularity was sort of what I was going for... However, getting to lvl 32-35-38 for all these neato tricks...
The grav/cold dom I made at the same time for the giggles is an easier one to play, but then again, cold assault plays as a scrapper set... -
I reccomend Father Xmas' thread on computer components. The best machines for a budget, you build 'em yourself.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=124080 -
My Search-Fu isn't the strongest, but I could only find one thread that said they didn't care what anyone said, they liked their Grav/Cold controller.
Okay... Well, here's the thing. I am a melee guy. Have been since issue 1. I have a few support characters at 50, but a vast majority are tanks/brutes/scrappers/widows/banes.
I have an earth/earth dom at 44 and a elec/elec dom at 41, but they aren't controllers, and as doms go, they are rather scrappy.
So, I had a really cool concept for a controller, but as I've never played one before, I thought I'd just make one and wait for the new Mids to come out to craft it.
I hate waiting...
I was hoping for some build advice or, well, something telling me that grav/cold is lame or just to forget it...
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance! -

We're going to be slowly reactivating inactive *premium* accounts (new players still may not create new free accounts). This is a slow ramp up and the process will take time. We'll put up a Community announcement at some point, however glad you guys noticed.
