Servers down atm

Anyone know why the servers are down atm?

And is there any place i can go, on a regular basis, where the devs post *why* servers are down with any sort of an estimate?

Because of the frequency of the down time over the last month, I've really been trying to find a reliable source for this basic info and so far, nothing. When I go to the "Server STATUS" link it tells me about "Regular Maintenance" on THURS. That's all. When I go to NEWS and Announcements forum, there is also nothing mentioned. What am i missing?

Yes, servers are down. If you go to the main site, it was announced they would be down for about 8 hours.
"Live Server Upgrade - Friday, September 23, 2011 The Live European and North American City of Heroes servers will be taken offline for further hardware upgrades on Friday, September 23, 2011. Start Time: 3:30 a.m. PDT / 6:30 a.m. EDT / 11:30 a.m. BST / 12:30 CEST"

TY all. I went to that Forum earlier, but did not realize such a post would be "Sticky" so i skip down to the most recent posts and...miss it completely.

Bah, that makes two days in a row where I'm unable to play.

Edit: Of course, having said that, the servers appear to be back up.

And I could have sworn that the admin message that popped up on chat right before they went down said 4 hours. Unless my memory is failing me in my old age, there have been af few times like that in the last couple of weeks were the scheduled length of downtime on the website was different than the scheduled length of downtime announced on chat right before the servers went down.

I wish that message would have been up a week ago when I scheduled to take time off to enjoy a little bit of free play time... I'm a little disappointed, but O'Well.... Guess I'll go spend my Points money on somthing else.

I notice that they make these notices a) rather small, and b) only allow the German and French language folks to comment.


What, not got the stones to let the English speakers complain too? Or, do the German and French speaking customers complain less?


Let me see... A typical German response to Freitags announcement would be:

No. It seems the German players are just asking for an ingame perk where the English speaking whiners are demanding financial restitution.

The funny part is after stating they want free time added to their accounts which would cost the company money, the whiners get mad when people point out that the down time that has occurred only cost the whiners a few pennies individually.

It could be that 4 hours IS what the techies told Z and co. Z mentioned for the "12 hour downtime" that the OCR does not give US the techie's ETA, but adds time to it.
