  1. Plant/storm is a very powerful controller with a large amount of personal safety. You can neuter most spawns, lock them in place, then release the tornado. The immob also does a lot more damage than other controller immobs, it is a good marriage.

Lol, I loved the linked photos, especially the ones in heat.
  3. I use both, ss for travel and stealth, and siphon speed for faster recharge of my powers in mission. I use IR if I need vertical movement.
  4. My stormie is grav/storm. I don't find the lack of -kb a problem because the tornado follows me around. I just go stand by the foes one by one and they get the life sucked out of them pdq. While this is happening I hold one and singy holds the other. I find the character to be pretty fun, with good damage along the way all of the way from the lowest levels. She does less damage than my illusion, plant, and fire controllers, but she shares honors with my illusion for being the most fun. It is the most fun after tornado though. My private little windstorm is fun to bounce around a mission.
  5. Storm has -def with freezing rain, and good damage a bit later in the game so it is very nice. Dark has a nice fear if you want holding like powers, it truly is like a controller.
  6. While we're at it, how about QQ? I think that is from another game. Is it quaking quesadillas? Quaker quarterback? Quiet quicksand?
  7. Yes, I always wonder what QFT means. Quoted for time? Queerly fragmented tamales? Quick fried tomatoes?
  8. I find controllers the most fun. My favorites have been fire (after level 32), plant, grav and illusion. Storm is the most fun set to pair them with, but rad is second most fun for me, kin is good also for a secondary. I forgot to mention that therm is not a bad set for solo or team play either, you can buff your team, and/or your pet with it.
  9. An ice/ice blaster is very easy and very fun. Fire/ice is harder, but very fun. A anykindofsword/regen scrapper is fun and easy, because both sets have an attack that gives you mucho def. That means you have great hp and end regen plus high def, a great combo. I never have trouble staying alive as long as I remember to use my avalanche. This is a scrapper on easy setting.

Stacking 4-5 SBs on a scrapper in a cave mission is a serious NO NO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
None of the effects of Speed Boost stack from the same caster. If your scrapper is running with 4-5 kins, I could see movement being annoying, but on the other hand, your attack chain would then be Tier 9, Tier 9, Tier 9, and that has to count for something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lol, tier 9, tier 9, tier 9. That's actually pretty funny.
  11. The pet was improved months ago to attack more and hold less, if I recall. She throws thorns and runs in to melee attack more often now. She is quite good once slotted for damage.
  12. For those who wonder if the venus flytrap pet is any good, I would like to say it most definitely is. Once it is slotted up with 3 damages, it is a pretty high damage pet since the changes were made a while back. I haven't seen it before, because I haven't been playing my plant controller for a while, so I just got venus 3 slotted for damage today.

My little venus eats small spawns up really fast, out damaging me by quite a lot. When it is a large group, she contributes quite a bit of damage and speeds things up a lot, but I do a larger percent of the damage than my pet. Still things go a lot faster with her at my side. Whether ranged or melee she does good damage now. Not as much as fire imps, by any means, but still very solid damage. With a damage enhancing secondary like kin, it would really be excellent.

I know the topic of venus comes up once in awhile, and not everybody is as optimistic as I am about her damage ability. I thought she sucked too until I gave her 1 slot for acc and 3 slots for damage. I find my plant controller to be very fast at completing missions, and is one of my best damge dealing controllers.
  13. No team has ever given me flack about confuse. I have found teams most glad to have a large degree of safety while breezing through missions. I paired it with /therm so the shields and heals plus the confuse make my teams very safe indeed. My plant controller has been very popular, as I'm sure a plant/kin will be too.
  14. I hope you developers would please do everybody in this game a tremendous favor. My soul cries out to me, "No more," each and every time I go to a contact and she or he says, "Go visit the Longbow liason (or Ms. Peebles, or the Warburg liason or.........)," or introduces me to another contact, just to introduce a new zone. Please, please, please, for the sake of everything good in this world, make these into visits and introduction which can be accepted or rejected as a mission can be. I have had to run from zone to zone many hundreds of times over the course of five years, and I can say with certainty that there is nothing more repetitious and unnecessary in the entire game than these introductions which force us to go visit a contact that we have met hundreds of times. Even a newbie may not be interested in pvp and elect not to visit the contact, or may chose to go seek out the person introduced if they wish if there is an option. Please stop making it mandatory over and over for anybody who does story arcs and pursues mission badges. There is absolutely no need for the trip to be required, or to use up a 3 day mission drop. Besides, I just got two in a row from the same contact, and both cannot be dropped, unless I wait for 3 days to drop the second one. Give an option to not accept the trip, let us choose. It seems to me, a non programmer, that it would be an easy fix.

Short of Hamidon and the high-end strikeforces, I have yet to see a situation in this game where more buffs/debuffs would not be preferable to heals.

If you've capped +DEF, +RES, and the equivalent debuffs on the enemy, and you still need heals, you're doing it wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe they don't want to wait for just the right defender who can cap everything with just the right amound of buffs and debuffs, and a frickin heal of any sort will cap their hp just fine and dandy. There is no reason on Earth to just avoid heals for the sake of avoiding them, and debuffs with a heal is a nice quick way to get rolling without advertising for a ________ (insert your desired favorite AT here).

    [/ QUOTE ]

You persist in your delusion of claiming I avoid heals. I could claim, and with more validity, that you are avoiding buffs. When I look for a defender/controller/MM/Corruptor, I am looking for heals. And buffs. And debuffs. And blasts. And control. And soaking ability. And more.

But YOU are defending the term "healer." You would exclude a TA player, or a Kin who skipped Transfusion. Exclude a FF or Traps character. Sonic or Ice. Sets with powerful abilities that could shift the tide of battle before the heals (that don't help much against alphas or lag) you so desire.

You are excluding, not me. You are promoting the use of imprecise terminology from other games, a trait that demonstrates either an unwillingness or inability to adapt to a system that is not the triad of tank-healer-dps.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I said that they may want a person with healing abilities and may be just fine for buffs and debuffs. They would no doubt be happy with extra buffs or debuffs. I have sought people with a heal power of some sort more than once.

You speak as one of those who immediately falls into a gran mal siezure when the word heal is even mentioned. These boards are filled with such haters of the word heal or healer. It just defies logic. This is the only game where I have seen such anti-heal fanatics.

... thinks healing is better than buffing, debuffing, and hard and soft control. Better enough to overtly discriminate in team building.

... is occasionally right. Though on such occasions, they tend to use the word "empath" instead of "healer," e.g. Hamidon raids.

... usually is a perma-newb who will stubbornly continue to believe their team wipes are caused by needing more healing. Plenty of people out there will never figure out that this game is different from whatever RPG they think they're playing.

    =====

In fairness, I overtly discriminate in team building, too. I actively recruit debuffers over controllers, buffers, and healers. If you're Trick Arrow, Radiation Emission, Storm Summoning, or Dark Miasma, I want you on my team now. Empath? Meh. If I can't find anyone else, fine. Hope you can blast.

But at least I realize it's personal preference -- matching teammates up with my own playstyle, and rewarding players with less popular builds who might be having trouble finding other teams. It's not because I think debuffing is so much better than other forms of mitigation.

Well, maybe just a little better.

Or maybe they already have plenty of buffs and debuffs, and are running invincible missions, which can make having a person with a heal power very welcome, and it may just darned well be transfusion that they are looking for. Quite likely they just want a defender/controller who can throw out some hp. It is a nice thing to have, and not unwelcome. When somebody asks for a healer they don't necessarily need an empath. I have given a shout looking for somebody with a heal power when the team had damage mitigation but no heal powers.

Yeah, perish the thought they should stop the huge exploit. I really think I should be able to get from 1 to 50 in 5 minutes. And by the way, please note the sarcasm.

    Stealth Question

I like COT missions because they are always easy to stealth. They don't see invisible in my experience.

  20. The hollows missions can be very hard. Try working your contacts in other zones instead and I think you will find it much better. Also for leveling up teaming can give much faster experience gain. There is an exp bonus for full 8 man teams (higher exp bonus for 8 woman teams since they are much better).
  21. An all defender team. Those are the best teams ever if there is a good mix of defenders on it.
  22. Not really. They may well be looking for somebady that has a means of restoring hp to the team. Buffs and debuffs do not prevent every scrap of damage from getting to members of the team. There is nothing wrong with wanting somebody who can replace lost hp when it happens, and it will happen. No team ever takes zero damage, ever. Some damage will get through at some point. It is just a matter of how much damage will land on the members of that particular team. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to rely on greens for hp replacement. A team may have good buffs, debuffs and controls, and still want somebody to heal lost hp.

The way that people on these boards just have a fit at the thought of anybody not wanting to play their way, by avoiding the very thought of ever using a heal power is just this side of amazing. I know some just hate the way people use the term "healer", but for others the very thought of a team being out there with a person who will use a power of some sort to restore lost hp is more than they can possibly tolerate. It really is amazing, and this is the only mmo that I know of that has this problem with the fringe kook anti-healers.
  23. Calling everybody who looks for a "healer" as ignorant, incompetent or lazy is indeed a generalization on a grand scale, and a blatant attempt to insult in this case. It is lame and shameful.

Healing is an important part of what defenders can do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm... No. I see the one, single power in my kit bag that heals, as being the least important ability that my Kin has.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Holy misquote Batman! It doesn't sound like you really read what I said at all. If healing wasn't important, there wouldn't be teams asking for healers to begin with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not the importance of heals that drive players to seek out "healers". Ignorance, laziness and sometimes sheer incompetence are why some players want "healers".

    [/ QUOTE ]

This really is the most stupid generalization I have ever seen anbody on these boards use. Try to keep your arguments to rational thought in the future.
  25. Is there a story to this game? I don't know, I just kill things.
