Thanks PK! Any opinions on reaching softcaps on defense, or do you think I'll be fine?
-
Hi All,
Never used /WP before, so I'm not sure if I've appropriately-slotted the passives here. I'm looking to PvE only. I'm one Guarded Spin away from the L/M softcap. I'd like to softcap some of my types, but I'm at a loss as to what I should or could change. Would love your input!!!

Hey All,
Knuckled under and got my favorite MA/SD to 50 and ran through the DA arc. I crafted a Spiritual Alpha and planning for Partial Core, but using Mids (and going off your advice, forumites), using Musculature Total Core will result in much higher DPS when my Hasten is on (somewhat insignificant outside of Hasten). However, Regen drops about 20%.
I've got other questions too (Diamagnetic for -tohit vs. Reactive for -res and dot, Ageless for +recharge vs. Rebirth for a heal vs. Barrier for defense cascades)
That being said, I was wondering if you folks wouldn't mind talking through some Incarnate powers advice with me. I guess the only thing to point out is that it's not an uber high recharge build and I only use Hasten when really need to kick something to death. I've attached my build below.

Hi All,
Playing through the new DA with my Sonic/Elec blaster and Siren's Song has no discernable effect on minion- and lt-level foes. I can still hold and stun them, but I can't sleep them. Is there a reason for this in-game, or it just a difficulty tweak for being "incarnate content?"
I would venture to guess on the technical side, you might need a Mag 4 sleep for them?
Hope someone has all the answers! -
I'll add one too; nothing fancy here and probably could be optimized further. But I wanna help too!

Hey All,
I've had Lead Vocals for nearly five years now. Sort of a novelty character gone good, he was also my first attempt at theorycrafting (sorta) awhile back - maximize recharge without purples or LOTG's with damage bonuses. He's been 50 for awhile and with the Alpha Slot, I'm trying to see what I can do to make him more efficient in both team and solo play.
For the most part, my solo playstyle has been to use Siren's Song, then just pick off each baddy one by one at melee range, hence why I never went for softcap or near-softcap defense. If I'm faced with a boss, I'll stack Shocking Grasp and Shocking Bolt.
But soloing the level 50 content has been harder since I'm facing more sleep-resistant mobs (sigh, robots). On teams, I'm a bit lost since outside of Static Discharge I don't do any AoE damage. For the most part, since my damage mitigation is marginal, I don't wade into melee scrums on teams (though I'd like to!)
So I'd like to ask the community what advice you might give for any improvements or even playstyle changes that might (1) increase his survivability solo and/or (2) contribute more DPS to team play.
Other stuff:
Single-target chain outside of melee is: Shout --> Shriek ---> Scream ---> Shriek (repeat). I haven't checked exactly, but that chain is pretty much seamless subjectively.
Difficulty Settings: +1x3
Thanks!

Hi All,
Long time lurker, first time Kheld forum poster (I think, at least). Anyway, I'm leveling up my tri-form PB and to be honest, I'm not sure what I'm going for here. I like to play changing forms often, but I'm not entirely sure what kind of set bonuses or frankenslots would be beneficial for that style of play.
Below is my planned build. I shot for a bit of recharge and global damage, and beyond that, no real logic I guess other than 5-slotting (for the most part) my form attacks. Anyway, I'd like to see if you folks might have any constructive criticism.
Difficulty: No purples, LOTG... for now.
Assume inherent stamina one-slotted.

Modlock? No offense to Airhammer or those debating the merits of extra slots, but seriously we did the endurance thing months ago on the Defender forums.
-
Oh I think the reason why is b/c the Blast Master attack is an AoE, and stalker hide is softcapped (or nearly?) to AoE attacks. So yet another advantage to being a Stalker in that situation.
-
I played through the Loyalist Responsibility arcs in both Nova and Imperial, part of the Power arc in Nova, and part of the Warden arc in Imperial and while all the things people have mentioned have happened to me (player-targeted ambushes, escort missions), once I got wise to it, I would plan out an "escape route" and clear out the mobs along the way on the path back to the Mission Start. In fact, I just recently did an escort mish where I ran to where the NPC was being held, then ran backwards through the map the clear the path. I like to think this is an advantage of being a Stalker rather than a weakness.
As someone mentioned earlier, often times beating the mobs that surround the escort NPC will trigger a location-based ambush. Move a bit out of the way, and they'll stop short of where you were. Then if you've cleared the way, it should be smooth sailing out of Hide.
It can be frustrating if the NPC has attacks, but if you've planned ahead, the path back should be fine. -
I was wondering if we could leverage the Threat and Aggro mechanics somehow. I know we removed the slept/held crits from PvE, but what if Stalkers got a bonus to either damage or applied a one time -res or -def (similar to Bruising) or a chance for a single-target fear to any target they hit, provided they had not established aggro on said target.
So if some other character aggros a mob, the Stalker can do some additional damage or apply a debuff. -
Hey, felt I could butt in here and ask for some advice! I just threw this together for my PB, but I feel that I'm off on a whole bunch of things. I aimed for +rech, but beyond that, I seem to be lacking in general enhancement totals. Anyway, hope you folks could help!

This is almost getting to Ultimo levels here...
I don't mind that it does KB since I'd rather have them away from me in Human form than near me, especially if I can run in the opposite direction. Plus, if I've somehow decided to attack 10+ dudes in Human form (or use any AoE not in Dwarf), I better hope someone's already established aggro, or I have taken pains to notice the layout of the room or am willing to clean up my own mess.
I certainly don't mind White Dwarf Flare doing KD because I can stand there and take it, at least long enough to change forms again. That being said, I find both versions more "save the day" moves rather than Footstomp-like farming damage ones. -
I absolutely love my Sonic/Elec/Elec blapper. Against most everything in the game, he can fire off Siren's Song and just pick off minions and lts at his leisure. And this has served and will serve him well through his last few bars to 50.
Unlike other Blapper combinations people have suggested, Sonic/Elec, IMHO, works best as a single-target attacker, partly b/c you don't want to wake everyone up after you've just slept them. In addition, Sonic/Elec/Elec has a plethora of fast-recharging controls -- a wide area sleep in Siren's Song, a stun in Screech, a melee hold in Shocking Grasp, and a ranged hold in Shocking Bolt. If you keep on your toes, most content goes down without much of a fight -
Hiya!
Inspired by a build a few threads ago that capped a Fire/Fire (I think) to S/L/E/N, I tried something out with my Rad/MM that comes somewhat close, but comes a bit under the cap to all of those -- around 41-42%.
Attached is my build, oriented towards cost right now (hence the Serendipities, Smashing Haymaker, etc). I was able to cannibalize one of my 50s for the Eradications as well.
I was wondering about a couple things. First, how could I reasonably get to the cap to all four. Second, if LOTG's are the only way to pick up extra recharge, so be it, but maybe I could steal some slots here and there. I'd like to know what you all think!

I like Elec/Dark. The "smack!" of the DM powers is so satisfying. Endurance is not an issue post-lv 26, and Power Sink is a good offensive tool as well; it gives you a few seconds of silence.
A couple things I've noticed. First, if you take Shadow Maul, you have to be really aware of your life bar as it'll root you for awhile. This is a problem as you can take damage while you're swinging away and might not have enough time to activate Energize or Siphon Life. In addition, you have to move around the spawns to get in optimal position for the Maul, which Elec actually helps with when you get Lightning Reflexes. I have Maul and I like it, but I smack myself in the face when I try to Maul instead heal when I need it. Second, Elec/Dm is like a hot knife through Rikti butter -- super energy resists and the Drones are weak to both energy and dark damage.
Finally, try to fit in Tough. You can get close to 80% S/L resistance with it. That's a lot! -
For the sake of clarity, Elec/DM would only have two natural heals: Siphon Life and Energize. Dark Consumption causes PBAoE damage to enemies in exchange for a proportional endurance recovery. Because it requires a to-hit check and has an unmodified 180 sec recharge, it's a skippable power in the DM set, given you already have Power Sink from Elec.
-
I also went with ElA/DM and shot for a bit of melee defense. When I'm done, I'll have about 35%, which lets me "hit elude" with one purple. That combined with ElA's resists, Energize, and Siphon Life should keep me on my feet for awhile. I'm just at 40 with her now and by no means close to my defense target, but I can (with some fancy footwork and awareness) solo +0/x6 spawns, which is the farming sweet spot.
Don't you ever worry about the endurance management: with Power Sink, everything's good! -
Hey Claws,
Thanks a lot. The Scirocco advice is great! Now I just have to decide which combination I'll like better.
I'm trying to rejigger the position of Combat Jumping to pick up the Epic Pool powers earlier as per your suggestions. Since I don't slot the Steadfast 3% until I get Tough at 41, and won't hit the cap to all positions until lv45 when I can slot the last of the Aegis, I could conceivably let CJ go until 49.
Flipping CJ to 49, I'd be under the sopftcap. However, according to Mids, I'd only be .3% away from the cap on Melee and Ranged, and .6% on the AoE softcap. I'm not sure if the extra .3% actually makes a difference, but if it doesn't I could definitely wait until 49 to take CJ.
The problem is, I'm still not sure there are enough slots for me to give Fire Ball enough for 5 slots. I'll try to reslot my powers as if I were leveling to see what I can do and hopefully we can talk again in a bit. -

Hey All,
I'd like to pick your brains about this FM/SR I'm leveling up. I've hit the soft cap here, but he seems a bit lacking in recharge (esp. in FSC). If the only recourse is to get LOTG's, then so be it. But I was wondering if you folks could suggest anything to generally improve him for non-farm, non-AV-solo PvE up to +0/x6.
Difficulty: Must have Fire Mastery pool for concept, though I'm pretty flexible.
Also: Vet travel reward.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ya'll,
Just want to pick your brains on the Elec/DM I'm levelling up. I'm currently at 36 and did some planning for the future. I'd really like to find a way to get Fireball in here for a tad more AoE damage options, but eh. Overall, I'd like to see what you think as to what sorts of set bonuses or individual power slotting might be beneficial.
Currently, this is what I'd consider midrange for me in terms of pricing. Melee defense is at 35% so I can pop a purple for "elude".
Thanks in advance!

Quote:I'm going to agree with Seizure here. Even as it has been said before that on Blasters, the debuff values are low, the fact that you can change the damage types on the fly makes them useful. For what it's worth, on my DP/Ice, I switch between Lethal and Incendiary Ammo to take advantage of Pistols' -def and Piercing Rounds -res, and can go Cryo if I absolutely need to stack -speed and -rech (though usually not the case, esp. with Shiver). Freezing Touch and Cryo Ammo'ed Suppresive Fire can hold bosses, and both can be slotted with Basilisk's Gaze for the 7.5% recharge bonus.Do you honestly think that Dual Pistols is gimped, or is that just hyperbole to elicit a response? The breadth of secondary effects we receive through Swap Ammo means that you can:
- Stack -damage with other debuffs, or with resistance. In fact, -damage functions like resistance.
- Stack -recharge and slow with other debuffs.
- Stack holds with other abilites.
- Stak stuns with other abilities.
- Stack -resistance with other debuffs.
Granted, we prefer overall efficiency to specific utility ("situational powers"), and if DP is really multiple permutations of specific utility in lieu of damage as is being implied, it is fair for the playerbase to say something about it. But because it's got tools to enhance specific primaries, secondaries, other powers, or even some playstyles more generally, then we should really be more open to it being a very unique powerset in that regard. -
Said this in another thread, but more relevant here: I went with DP/Ice because of all the fun tools. And by fun, I mean firing Bullet Rain onto baddies flopping around on an Ice Patch corner pull.
-
I rolled a DP/Ice/Ice in beta and am doing so again on live. Pretty safe for me, especially once I get both Suppressive Fire and Freezing Touch to hold bosses. Doing a corner pull onto an ice patch and firing off Bullet Rain is just viscerally satisfying. And broadly speaking, I like all the tools available from both sets. While it's low-middle of the road in terms of damage, it's anything but routine (unlike my Sonic/Elec/Elec Blaster).
