Quote:Ahh... But we've seen them trying to recruit (forcibly) female civilians, and part of me has figured some of those mages without the beards or the ones who are completely shadowed in their clocks are actually women with chest bindings. Or they might imbibe a gender change potion upon possession.Circle of Thorns are ghosts from thousands of years ago, yet again, I don't see people who have lived long enough to have seen people owned before would be very progressive.
Also, I do support this idea, though it's not pressing, but it's earned a /sign from me. -
Quote:Actually, I had an idea for this, basically, the series would involve fairly cut and past heroes builds/origins with one of each of the five ATs (later introduce one of the HEATs, I vote Warshade since girls would love a dark, brooding, but cute guy in the series). It would start out with Tanker (Place holder names for their ATs will be used), who is a mutant origin Invul/SS tank entering city hall to get his hero license and briefly get accosted by this rude and hot tempered girl (Scrapper, Nat MA/SR) and when they're suddenly confronted by a bunch of hellions, both easily dispatch of them, Tanker then gets his license and moves on to his first mission which would take up the rest of the Episode.I'm thinking movie focusing on the Rikti War (though strong characterization would be a struggle; the trilogy idea is a good one), followed up by a modern-day, slightly more cartoony TV show focusing on a bunch of newbie heroes.
CG would be a strong possibility for both.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch all of the CoX trailers and keep on dreaming.
As the series moves on, each of the ATs are introduced, and the season finale would foreshadow Breakout which would open the second with the introduction of the Villains who follow the same pattern of their group as the heroes (though perhaps they would have unusual origin/powerset makeups in contrast to the heroes). The second season would feature on and off clashes between the two, starting with the villains racking up some credibility by striking some good victories and just when the heroes seem to gain a final say, the villains get two Arachnos Liaisons forced into their villain group (introduction of the VEATs) to "get them back on track with operation: DESTINY."
Yadda, yadda. yadda, can you tell I put way too much thought into this?
Also, cameo appearences from heroes and villains of various PCs in the game. -
Quote:Actually, in the last two times I've come up with ideas for fliers and vehicles involving form shifts, Bill's given a thumbs up for the most part.This. Memphis Bill has a huge cut-and-paste about it, that I'm far too lazy to look for.
Also, Nova/Dwarf form does NOT constitute being able to universally apply this to all ATs.
Also, to Brand X, I'm inclined to accept that too.
And partly because I already made a suggestion similar to this and thus would naturally be inclined toward it: /signed. -
-You and Statesman reminisce about "the good times"
-You do the same with Lord Recluse. -
Quote:If it's any consolation, I think the OP meant for NPCs only, thus, (hopefully) less (i think) insanity of running the full gauntlet of reanimating each power and costume piece for another skeleton.Even better, I've got an ice cream scooper that I could use to build a space elevator and escape madness like this post!
Though on a similar note... I think one way to skirt around this sense of lifelessness might be to have animal sound effects in various areas of the game, maybe like in some of the alleys of Kings Row you can hear cats yowling, in Atlas you can hear dogs bark somewhere in the distance. Actually, I think we already have this, don't we? -
They're also in spawns in Founders', I was feeling like a jerk a few days ago and kept luring Council and Column mobs into each other sparking more gang wars.

Quote:I'm going to admit, at first, this almost seemed a little brown nosy, but really, you're right. And I have to agree, I've made some the best friends I've had playing this game, and for guy like me, that means a lot.First allow me to say that I do not think anything I could write can adequately convey just how thankful I am not only for this game, but also for you, the Developers, and your openness and dedication to the City of Heroes/Villains franchise. I wanted to send you goodies, but I understand you have discouraged that behavior, and so I am relegated to this: mere words.
I appreciate how much you guys listen. You spend a lot of time here on the forums, and endure a lot of abuse from people who have no idea what they're talking about, all in an effort to hear what we are saying. And while we all know how fruitless it is to try to please everybody, it is quite apparent that you do care what we think which seems common sense as we are your paying customers, but I have infrequently experienced this from other vendors. Not only do you solicit player feedback, you act upon it. You guys have implemented changes based on player input, you try to keep us in the loop as much as possible regarding the thought processes behind the end results, you make yourselves available to the player-base on a scale I have never observed elsewhere. Of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but I want to let it be known just how much your herculean effort is appreciated.
I truly love this game. I've spent hundreds, or perhaps thousands of hours logged in, and when I was (for whatever reason) unable to log in, I've spent additional hours with City-related activities: build planning, forum-reading, art. There are so many reasons I love City; it appeals to many distinct sides of my personality. And that in and of itself is a reason to love this game: There are innumerable ways to have fun, different goals to strive for, distractions to amuse. I feel like the game is a Tweaker's Paradise, though I must admit I may simply be biased. In any case, you have given as much control of as many aspects as possible to the players, and you continue to invent new ways to give us more choices, whether with customization, proliferation, content, or features.
Also a heartfelt Thanks! to everyone else who keeps the game running smoothly (or our reasonable approximation thereof). Moderators, customer service, even the admins and office workers (if Paragon Studios has such), everyone involved in keeping the whole thing going. And to all of the subscribers, whether we agree on The Issues or not, because it is our combined support that keeps the servers on; I couldn't do it alone. (Though I'd try!)
Thank you for this game.
Most Sincerely,
Kelly L Creighton, aka @kwsapphire
My thanks to all the devs, past, present, and future, for bringing this game to us, and helping me bring me to some great people.

Quote:It seems Steelclaw has taken on an apprentice, you do your master proud.Here's my crack at it. Obviously, the AT's need names that are the exact opposite of what they are:
-Heroes-
Tanker-> Banker
Scrapper-> Conscientious Objector
Blaster-> Useful
Defender-> Prosecutor
Controller-> Butler
- Epic Archetypes -
Peacebringer -> EEEVILbringer
Warshade -> Peaceshade
-Villains-
Brute-> Bicycle
Stalker -> Profiler
Corruptor -> Soap
Dominator -> Submisser
Mastermind -> Amateurliver
Epic Villains
Soldier -> Civilian
Widow-> Married Person
Before people go crazy, my main character is a Blaster (my first 50 and still my favorite). -
@Seldom
Oh! That could work! Maybe with the Fifth Column back the Council would be looking for a little extra help, and thus we could get Nictus Mastery?
-
I agree, but how? I mean, yeah the Patron concept made themes much easier, but it also ended up limiting how many they can have.
I for one would love to see a Fiery Element PPP and perhaps a Psionic one? (May Kalida can get promoted?) -
Quote:I dunno, in the case of certain badge titles I think they need to give a villainous change."Sidekick" is a term specifically unique to established heroes and the young heroes they take on. That IS heroic. But what part of "influence" suggests heroism? Unless you want to claim that villains can't be influential, "influence" as a term is non-specific. In fact, "infamy" is outright stupid, because infamy is solely and only reputation, whereas influence is actual, exercisable pull.
To me, the very notion that villains have to have evil-sounding everything is false, and in fact runs directly contrary to the very point of Going Rogue. The expansion's main focus is the moral ambiguity of being meta-human an how the choices we make affect who and what we are, not the things we call ourselves. In fact, they picked a heroine with powers about as "evil" as it gets to turn hero just to drive home that fact.
Maybe it would be inconsistent, but an inconsistency is still superior to a consistently bad policy.
Namely villains have Exalted.

1. raised or elevated, as in rank or character; of high station: an exalted personage.
2. noble or elevated; lofty: an exalted style of writing.
3. rapturously excited.
Okay, maybe that's not so heroic... So maybe I'm wrong. -
Oh, you started a new thread, again, you sure about scrappers and tanks with pets? Also, may I propose one be name changed to "Tesla Mastery"?
Oh yes, and /sign. -
Quote:Thanks, Vaden, it was late when mine up and it was the first time I was coming up with an APP set that was seriously meant to be in the game, and I kept trying to figure out what pattern Scrapper and Tanker APPs followed but couldn't figure it out.You don't need to look at other lightning APPs, you need to look at other APPs within the same archetype, and these powers do not follow the Tanker and Scrapper pattern, which is:
T1: Support/Control
T1: Support/Control
T2: Ranged Attack
T2: Unique Power (Could be anything; debuff, control, etc.)
T3: Ranged AoE (cone or targeted AoE)
Also, your suggestion is a lot nice, though I'd still be a little iffy on Voltaic Sentinel, even if I was the one who originally proposed it because...
Well, again, I was half-asleep writing mine up and because I was basing that off of the Stalker and Brute's Mu Mastery for gaining pets.
Also, Leo G, please do not EVER again ask a suggester "why didn't you do it this way?", please! Unlike-... Actually none of my characters can read minds and neither can I. (Sorry if I'm jumping to conclusions, your post reminded me of one too many people saying the "why didn't you do it this way?" when I posted my idea for a Japan zone.) -
Quote:Oh, nice ideas, but as to the "Why?" question: Rule of Cool, for starters. We've been asking for vehicles for a long time now, plus, the ability to soar within a really cool micro jet or helicopter is just all too appealing, if only for aesthetic purposes.This is the biggest problem as far as I can tell (aside from the whole issue of having said fliers be bigger than the existing examples, which are already hard to believe thanks to how they would clip with existing geometry). The Kheldian form powers accomplish this by granting the character the suite of inherent powers at the same time that the Kheldian form power is taken.
Of course, the solution to this could be just as interesting or could be rather blasè. The powers could be granted as unenhancable inherent powers at the time of acquisition of the designs (re: mish completion). On the other hand, the powers could just as easily be craftable temporary powers themselves that are only usable while within the "vehicle" combat stance. I'd actually find this one to be the more interesting variant because it would actually allow you to "customize" your vehicle by choosing the armaments and having to deal with the ammunition issue by actually having to remake the temps on occasion (which would either mean having to buy the recipes for the armaments themselves from the vehicle dealer or simply getting them automatically memorized when you complete the various missions). You could even go further with this and make the vehicle itself be an inherent with almost no movement capabilities and require a series of other craftable/buyable temp powers that provide all of the other "required" capabilities of the vehicles.
Either way, the biggest issue is still that it begs the question of "why"? If the vehicles were stronger, there would be no reason to run around outside of the vehicle unless you're heading to get (another) one. If they were weaker, after the initial shiny factor wears off, no one would really bother with them beyond getting the badges.
Then, there's the ability to really fight in mid-air without travel suppression/using hover or playing a Kheldian and maybe to use as a platform and expand on combat for aerial battle without leaving others out.
Also, for why bother getting out of them even if they're too powerful? Well, you can't go indoors/indoor missions with them, that's a major thing. Another is just for the sake of using your character's actual powers, not to mention that not every enemy is in the air. -
I wish they would give us a little more things involving Sky Raiders. Bump the Skiff down to Lt. Rank, bring out a Mk. II Sky Skiff for a boss, add a human boss- well... At least one that's not in a micro jet, and maybe ditch the jump bots. They just feel so out of place.
Also, I pretty much agree one everything listed here so far, BP and Skulls in particular. I mean, what the @#$% are the skulls? Are they magical, mutants, natural through the power of emo? -
/signed
I'm not too sure on numbers or if I'd roll one up, but I am signing this if only because it's well thought out and you clearly put a lot of work and thought into it.
Also, adding new diversity to the AT list is pretty sweet too. -
I think, if the coding were possible, for the dialogue of Night Widow Nocturne in the Faultline Arc or for Kalida in the VEAT Arc to be affected by detecting other NC soft (and perhaps, if possible, see if other companies would want to join in on the fun) games like...
Night Widow Nocturne: *Detects Lineage II on your system* "I see you like play Lineage II."
or... (And this would be awesome if Cryptic would allow it.)
Kalida: *Programs detects Champions on your system* "So you like to play that /other/ game, do you? You are not only a traitor Arachnos, but the whole world!" -
Shameless self-bump! Because I at least tried to figure out how this could work as well as limitations instead of just saying: "Gimme a vehicle power/power pool!"
-
This idea gets insane when you account for MMs getting a PnP translation.
"As a Robotics mastermind who's supposed to have made all of his own robots, can I give mine ACTUAL HANDS so they can have utility and help me carry some of the money I rob out of the bank?"
"Does this mean I can't make my Thugs say stupid things anymore?"
"What do you mean my own Mercs shot me to death for using Time Bomb on them too many times?!"
"Okay, if you wanna roll up another zombies MM and break out into Thriller in the middle of a bank job and get shot to death, that's your decision..."
"NO you STILL can't have a clown MM!" -
sometimes... I really think that you're secretly Weird Al.

At least it's better than what I keep seeing this thing in the image as: (Warning: Might not be work safe!)

Here are some suggestions I would like to add that might work: Favored targets.
This would basically be an enemy factions "Default non-taunt/under direct attack/teamed PCs" targeting choice. This could be simple, like say Malta would default their targeting to party members with the lowest HP, or Nemesis soldiers would target high HP targets to keep hammering away the tank while their AoE damage whittles away the rest of the team.
Or it could be more advanced, like say Malta targetting specific ATs, as further example knowing they have no mez protect of their own, would default target corrs, defenders, doms, and trollers first to keep from being locked down and other enemies could be sensitive to certain situations, like Nemesis soldiers would direct their fire to where ever PCs/enemies are most clustered together.
Also, AVs having a default preference for attack the person the mission belongs to as kind of a "take down the person directly responsible" thing. -
Hmmmmm...
Electrical mastery/Thunder Mastery/Lightning Mastery for tankers and scrappers rough idea:
41 Electric Fence: Ranged, Moderate DoT(Energy), Foe Immobilize, -End, -Recovery
41 Static Discharge: Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe -End
44 Power Efficiency: Auto: Self +Recovery, Res: -recovery
44 Tesla Cage: Ranged, Minor DMG(Energy), Foe Hold, -End, -Recovery
47 Voltic Sentinel: Summon Sentinel: Ranged, Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe -End, -Recovery
The problem with this is that I've been up all night and the only electrical themed EPPs are Mu Mastery for Brutes and Stalkers (Who we know do actually play differently than scrappers and/or tanks) and Electricity Mastery for Blasters (Who player VERY differently than scrappers and/or tanks) Thus it's hard to come up with something decent. The +Recovery auto I figured should be better for +recovery than physical perfection, but not as good as stamina, much less quick recovery, but it also gives the -recovery resistance too.
So, that's it from me.
