Because I've done the opposite, IE: proving it's underperformance, on TWO threads. You're up to bat!
Right i will take a swing..

I logged into the forums to read a happy thread about the new BM and secondaries only to find yet another Reppu rant.. a rant i have to say has been going on for a month at least in Virtue Help chat.. We get it! we really do.. thank you Reppu for taking the time to point out ALL the flaws, BUT despite the constant Slamming in Help despite the constant flame wars in the forums.. I paid for BM yes i say again PAID for! My money, my PP, my choice. As it is everyone else. I Do appreciate the fervor in which you are trying to make your point but the simple truth of the matter is despite your opinions and despite your number crunching people .. people like me will do as they please and enjoy the new set. I just do not see a need for the OP's thread to get jacked just for yet another BM suckz0rs rant. Really as Kyria said lets all just pet a kitten or something and smile!

On the "Pets AI is flipping out in reported cases. Confirm it for yourself" thing.. well gosh as the proud owner of three MMs four now with BM i can say.. that pet AI being wonky is NOT anything new! I mean have you never watched your pets? they do some of the craziest things! so honestly no i haven't paid a bit attention to the silly antics of my animals sorry!

Now on to what this post was originally about! I personally took Dark as my secondary though Time was very close tie but since i have a ...yes another underperfoming set ( well not nearly as bad since it got buffed!) Gravity/Time controller i opted for dark and doing tankermind! promises to be a lot of fun and i look forward to playing her!
  2. I really adore this new set, thank you. As a new player i missed out on a lot of things this gave me the opportunity to get great costume parts, the teleporter and dances for a much reduced cost. i feel it is wonderful. Just as i see the devs Really trying to appeal to everyone.... I cite this set.. and the soon to be retro sci fi.. and then golden age/tights redo..Such an awesome game. where the Devs take such a active role in the community so unlike so many other MMOs i have played

Before folks get to upset about limited time you may consider that the only thing that will be limited time will be the complete booster. Much like how i can not get the magic set with the tarot cards anymore. Likely the outfits may stay as a smaller set for purchase minus the Teleporter and dances.

You say that like it is a bad thing!..Batman did not wear his armor to his Balls.. Wonder woman did not wear her whip on base etc etc you get the point.. Yeah there is a 'subculture' that likes to RP and like myself likes to RP actually having a secret identity.
  3. One of two final builds, I think this one is pretty solid.

  4. Good post and tips!

Within this world and all the super-do-dah pals we have around us (and enemies and occasional side-effects), another great possibility for Judgement (and any of he powers, actually) is a magical item, a magical boon, a tech-gizmo and/or further mutation.
My main, a robotics mastermind (hero) is mortal non god like but i tend to play her like a anime version of iron man. All her powers are from technology of some sort.. including pain domination. I ran into a problem when i went to choose my epic i did not want to side switch and could not think of a way to explain why the heck i would have chill mastery until someone said " well robotics uses liquid nitrogen then bam it hit me. Now shes uses stolen crey technology to make frozen armor.. I mean i have fought like a bazzailion of those guys so compleley makes sense that as a scintist i would have helped myself to soem of there tech yeah?

So my incarnates? Likely will be along similar lines perhaps Rikiti Tech/science.

All this is a long winded way of saying i agree use your imagination! Tech/science is science fiction in the world of City of Heroes and like magic can be used to explain pretty much anything.

Another example My electric armor brute who was part of an experimental process using artificial electrocytes cells (cells from a electric eel) to power her bionic heart.

Just flashback to an old arc or contact if you missed them.
Very True! How ever there are some arcs you can't flash back to( unless wiki info is out of date) like Maxwell Christopher has a great one you do..where you.. well i won't spoil the surprise but nemesis fans should do ALL his arcs from beginning to end..Great arcs i say plural because there is really two in one.. PLUS you get a chance to earn unveiler badge.

Which makes me think of yet another thing to do badging! Sure it might seem lame.. but really it is A LOT of fun and some badges allow you to obtain accolades( bonus powers/abilities)
  6. I moved around some slots added in some IOs i -think- i may be on the right track here. Looks pretty costly but hey that's what merits are for plus i'm still learning the market!

I used a little bit of Dech's ideas in the bots.( thanks giant hugs for your great guide!) suppress pain i slotted like a triage beacon. although the too are different they have similar functionality. I don't know have a look someone and tell me what you think.

One thing that i am not real sure on is the slotting for tactics and do i even need it?

  7. Yeah motorcycles.. no. Having spent my time in wow i have seen my share of motorcycles on rooftops, motorcycles on mailboxes, motorcycles driving around in circles.

Though i have to predict as some one else did..more shape changing next will be a bird. It is a common enough super power.
  8. Just keep speaking to new contacts they will keep giving you more and more challenges to face. run their arcs all the way through. Don't be afraid to turn your exp off every once in awhile there is no rush to 50.( i do this so i do not out level the areas i am in and miss stories and doubly so in the case of of running AE player missions).

Bottom line your first title is only the beginning, still many new things to face!
  9. A in base Costume Designer because screen shakes and other powers are annoying when working on your costume! could even make it a function of the auto-doc.. or another auto-doc like add on that requires a badge to get.

Like 100,000,000 Inf spent on costumes you receive the Diva badge and wardrobe plans

Oh and beds how come arcane gets like four kinds of beds and tech..we get none!
  10. Thanks for the reply, yeah getting world of pain perma or near perma along with anguishing cry and pain bringer is one of my goals. I have been messing around in MIDs trying out different sets and franken slotting still trying to get a group to do a TV trial with me so i have time it seems...I have one respc token buit i want to use that to fix my second build since i messed that up in my 20's . I have only been playing since November so i'm still learning!

As far as nemesis go. well i've adjusted my tactics which go along way.. helps to not leave my mechs standing in the poison patches!

Thanks for any help. if i respc soon i will post the build perhaps it will help someone out. I do not think bots/PD is an overly used set but it is one i am enjoying!

i would like to add to this guide that if you PL to 50 in the AE you will acquire all the necessarily experience you need to run this build insuring your proper place on incarnate trials. while also funding your IOs from tickets. This in turn has the side effect of lowering or increasing the value of recipes and salvage on your server furthering your helpoisty.

    I applaud you.
  12. Firstly i hope this is in the right spot.

Recently while fighting nemesis troops i had a sobering experience as what ever exploding things they use chewed my Minions up like aluminum foil origami cranes.. This made me reevaluate both my tactics and my defenses. I do a lot of reading so i -kinda- have an idea of what-might- be needed but i have done so much reading now i'm a bit confused. One great read was written by Dechs where he speaks very highly of Provoke.

Before i post my Build let me tell you a bit about my play style.. For the most part i solo of course.. but i also enjoy teaming so my heals i prefer to keep each one of them has been useful more times than i can count( not so sure about suppress pain ) I have been letting my bots handle enemies while i hover over head or near by healing and directing them but that has gotten harder to do.. so in part some of that is on me and learning new tactics. But i feel the need to increase my defense more(Or resistance?) and im not sure which direction to go.. ranged , AoE, Melee...Part of me is leaning to ranged defense and hovering with provoke but i just do not know so i come to the forums seeking aid..

Here is my current build yes some slots are empty because i am on the cusp of wanting to do another respec. For the record Ice blast i hate those slots are getting put to better use some how Like Six slotting Maneuvers? thee slotting hover/CJ for zephyr?

One last thin g i'm a SG leader so side switching has become.. more of a hassle than it is worth so i am stuck with Ice mastery( or
force) Also i am aware that incarnates are just around the corner for me so maybe advice on where to go there would be of great help.

EDIT* One last thing. I generally like to run at 0/x3-0/x6.. with bosses. i don't expect to ever be able to take on AVs or GMs with this( that's what alts are for!) but i do go up against EBs alone.

Thank you and i hope this might help other Bots/Pain in the future

  13. hrm.. Well when i see salvage has been sold for 5 inf and i know it is 250 i will either store it or sell it to a vendor.

Is there some standard guideline to pricing recipes and crafted IOs? I don't mind selling cheap 1 mill is way more than i had. But what i am having a hard time with is knowing prices are skewd some and being a new player i do not know there actual value/demand. That would help me not only with selling but buying. For example i have a level 10 blessing of the zephy in my market there are 11 bidding 8 for sale and the last bid for those was 5 days ago for 20 mill.. i put mine up for 10 mill and it just sits there so clearly that is not the asking price( or what those 11 bidding are wanting).

This is like some kind of twisted mini game >.<
  14. Not exactly sure what to call it.. so i apologize if the title is misleading in anyway but...

When i see a IO for 20 mill across the board i can assume that is a flipper selling those. What i am not understanding is when i see sales for 5,5,5,100,5,5,5.. Is that someones attempt to obscure the actual pricing by putting in a recipe or IO for 5 then buying it back?

when i understood flippers i could start making Inf. since the price i'm seeing is not the actual price. but this 5 and 10 inf stuff makes no sense because i will see that and just sell my stuff to a vendor.

That is what i got out of his ..ending. No one hero can take the world on their shoulders alone.

Who do the citizens of paragon city look up to now? The same heroes they always have looked up to, not States not the Phalanx but the players. Even Super Jerk

    C) modern super-hero tights (w/ ribbing, surface texture(s), subdivided surfaces) a la Ultimates 1 or Marvel movies.
Some say that the Defense and Olympian Guard base textures cover this style fairly well. Do you agree?
Yes. But I would also like to see some options for regular "Tights with skin" specifically more stocking options other than the fishnet ones maybe just opaque version of those.
  17. I am happy about the set.. though slightly disappointed the leggings and corset was not included

But I Will get them anyway come stipend day! and look forward to using it with new dark control! yay

and this is carnival of light not shadows.. i might have missed them but were there even any male carnies in praetoria? So i was not surprised in the least
  18. I play a Bots/pain at the time i created her i was very new to CoH so was not aware of all the -better- secondaries i just thought hmm pets, check.. healing powers.. check. next thing i knew i was turning off my exp because i was doing 0/x4 missions with bosses( yeah i know folks can do x8 but hey i'm a newbie!)

I can tell you for me it is a very exciting set! Never a dull moment. and incredibly useful both teaming and solo..You get heals, rezs, buffs, debuffs However i am also not a AV/GM killer at least not yet! ( Pain does lack Defenses how ever it did not become a problem for me until i reached 40 it is not stopping me and once i get my epic armor and set bonuses in place i'll become even stronger)

I'm also aware that pain can some times look like the red headed stepchild of the MM secondaries but again i say No team will look at you cross eyed once you save there hides!

I will add again it can be a VERY busy set even solo.. with micro managing your minions and keeping them alive but i like it.
  19. I run a Bots/Pain soo my needs are a bit different but i am in the process of becoming a villain to get either mace or mu mastery i figure i will choose which i want more Res or Def by the time i become a villain..

I am still pretty new so i can not answer your questions as well as i would like but from what i've seen and read the best Epic on blue side for MMs is cold mastery.. which although lacks AOE holds does have some pretty amazing powers..( haorfrost/hibernate) for me it was more about theme ( why would a robotics engineer have cold powers..) and the fact that the cold armor messes up your looks. I didn't want to be all icy and blockie.

I can tell you this, what i do know is that Fences is popular because of its -kb so it is used by a lot of Bot MMs to keep the mobs in the burn patch. Though from what i've read is has a small area of effect. For me i think i am leaning towards mace.. as i too want the AOE holds and need the protection since Pain lacks Def powers i figure i will pick it up in scorpion armor. Since both of yours have force fields you may want to go to Mu for the resists..

Hopefully someone with more experience comes along with more help and/or to correct me

I preferred when pets didnt zone with us. Going into oro and NOT ending up in amongst 10 demons? Not seeing pets dancing about near the black market?
Between the bug and not wanting to annoy other players with 6 bots trampling about and dragging them across the zone i tend to just dismiss them.. at 39 the end. hit is not so much that i need to be concerned about it.. and when they do bug i made a /release_pets macro. I can re summon equipped and upgraded in like 10 seconds. Kinda learnered to be fast cuse teams so do not wait for you to set up!
  21. Quote:
I've also talked to a couple of people that refuse to invite more than one MM on a team and sometimes not at all.

That.. is kind of brutal. I am glad i have not run into such players. In fact I did a respec trial the other night we had three MMs, a thugs, demons and myself Bots plus 4 other team mates no one said a word.. well except that things were dieing to fast and no one could see through the hail of fire bullets and missiles! it was rather fun I never once noticed the bigness.

Some times i wonder if folks just need a class to hate like in WoW it was the hunter always seems to be the pet classes if there were no MMs they would kick Illusion/ from there groups because the PA was in the way. If there was no Illusion then it would be the arachnos spiders!

Saying all that i will say, some kind of shrink power is always useful!
  22. Quote:
You can also have super speed on with hover and still be afforded the stealth bonus as if your were zipping around
Yeah not sure about anyone else but that sorta sold me on using super speed!

Apologies about the Gfly mix up. I did look for posts in the forums but you know those can be hit and miss some times so all i really had to go by were people ( who i assumed) were vets in the game and knew better, thank you guys for clearing that up..

I agree with plainguy even knowing now there are no negatives to it i still would not use it. Superspeed + hover on the other hand i may just do! I loves me hover!
  23. Bad Idea :being rogue/vigilante when your SG/VG tells you you can have a full set of LotG from storage if you can pick it up in 15 mins.

Good Idea: Choosing fly as a travel power...
  24. Ok so here it is again using a bit of everyone's advice and some of my own.. notice group fly is dropped for combat jumping if four pools is to much i could keep Gfly or add rifle burst kinda wouldn't mind having my rifle back i always feel like i have my hands tied behind my back when i get jumped with no minions out LoL!

Plus i wanted to test that whole data chunk thing out and it worked! I even added my set total pitiful as they may be.

I think i got it now.. well MIDs operation not sure about the build but meh i'm having fun learning, Thanks guys!

I also picked up a respec token they were half price!

  25. Well i decided to switch, i believe D is correct from what i've read yes you can switch do your patron arc switch back and keep the pool open what i'm not sure is if you can also chose from the APP as well.

Also i am not sure which to go for Mace or MU.. really the difference seems to be def or res.. which is better to have? I want to say Res. since my base def is so low to begin with.. any suggestions?
