Anyway to softcap this without using Dark Blast? Doesn't fit my toon theme. Looking for something natural, like conserve power or focussed accuracy. Thanks in advance.

So, if all you're after is an Affordable Tanker, then Congratulations, you have one. If, on the other hand, you're interested in creating an 'extreme' tanker affordably, well, carry on with the thread.

The extra defense helps out a lot on the new Incarnate trials. Going up against level 54 (+2), a guy needs all the help he can get.
  3. Thanks so much guys. I was unaware that I could convert regular merits into Hero Merits. This toon alone has 576 merits. Kinetic Combat here I come. Thanks again.
  4. Since Kinetic Combat recipes are noew going for about 100 million a shot, can anyone come up with a capped or close to capped WP/SS tanker that minimizes their use? Have a fair amount of Inf to spend, but don't want to blow it all on 1 IO set.
  5. Well my other choice would be a Ice/Sonic Corrupter or a Cold/Sonic Defender. Trying to stay with the Ice Scream theme. Either of these builds work better than the blaster?
  6. Looking for suggestions/warnings for a Sonic/Ice Blaster. Any powers to avoid? Any must haves? I'll put a build out here once I put one together.
  7. Just dinged 50 with my Rad/Ice Defender and was wondering if anyone could help me out with IO sets for her. She is definitely a team toon who was set up to grab or slow something, debuff the hell out of it and watch while the team tears it apart. Right now I just have SO's slotted. Guess my question is, Is it worth it to try to max out the build? and what sets would you suggest to do the job.

    Thanks in advance.

Well I am officially bummed. While my run speed boost percentage is higher than Beef Cake's, his top speed, recovery and defense numbers are higher than mine. I am running a stoner/fire tank and run speed is my top concern. Did I just choose the wrong secondary or am I missing something?

  9. Just rolled a AR/Traps corruptor and I'm looking for advice. I've been running trials with my 50's. Everything keeps coming at you so fast in those and this just seemed like a nice change of pace.

So don't know what my end build will be, but so far its been fun. Is the combo worth keeping? Are there things that I need to look out for? Any particular strengths? What about IO's? What sets work good with these powers? Kinda going for the James Bond / Secret Agent type of theme.

    Any help is appreciated.
  10. Just realized this is a Legacy build. Wonder what I can do with Inherent Fitness powers?
  11. Been looking over the Brute guides and I can find a BA/WP guide, a SS/SD guide, an Ele/SD guide. Everything but a BA/SD guide. This seems like a natural power set match to me, so I was a bit surprised. I'm thinking that maybe this will my next toon to slot with Incarnate powers but now am curious if I should look at some of my other characters first. Is there a reason no one is talking about this combo? I had a blast leveling him up to 50, and he seemed really strong along the way. I've included my build (still working on all the IO's), so any advise/criticism would also be appreciated. I'm wondering what choices people are taking for the different Incarnate pools and why. I'm a bit of a theme player and this one is based on Romulus, so if you think a certain Incarnate choice would blend well with Axe swinging, Shield bashing psychopath, let me know.

    Hero in Blue

OK.. I gotta ask. Looking at the 'Celebrating 7 years of Super' screen on this sites home page and I have no idea who the hero in blue is standing next to Statesman. Can anyone help me out here? Did I slip into an alternate dimension when he was announced? Where did he come from?

    Thanks in advance.

    Villain Merits

Ok, simple question here, but I just can't seem to find the answer. I know that completing a hero morality mission gives you a hero merit award that can be used at the base in Atlas to buy IO recipes and salvage. I am assuming that villains have the same setup on their side, except they'd be villain merits.

My problem is that I have no idea where to go to turn the merits in. Anyone want to point me in the right direction or am I way off here to begin with?

I agree. My stoner's build is totally designed around run speed (I hate slow toons) and I was still able to get him almost capped on smashing and lethal and about 36% on F/C/E/N.
  15. In Granite 29.6, 16.7 when rooted
Outside Granite 39.6, 26.7 when rooted

Before I came across this build I never took a Stone tank past Granite. I just couldn't deal with the speed issues. I haven't had the chance to respec him with Inherent powers yet.

  16. So what we're talking about is a CoH version of Iron Man
  17. To all you Keybind and Macro gurus out there.

i am looking for either of the above that I can use for changing costumes.

    I want to
    1. start in my 1st costume slot,
    2. change into costume slot 2 preferably using one of the effects (like Energy Morph)
    3. switch to Beast Run.

I also would need the reverse of this so i can change back.

Could somebody please give me a hand with this?
  18. Looks good to me.. Expensive, but good... Good Luck with it
  19. The thing is that once you engage a mob, they all fire at you at the same time. I usually run at +1 X2 and can get clobbered by the alpha. If I get past that, then it's all good. Considering all the purple I saw in your build, you're going to spend a lot on your build.

This is sort of a dream build I have. Kinetic Combats are going for a premium, but I gotta believe it's not too much more/less than your build.

  20. I have a level 50 db/regen scrapper that I just got shadow meld on. One thing I can point you to on your build is defense. Your defense is woefully lacking. Most of your time will be spent in melee range so that is what you'd want to build on. Shadow meld helps a lot with the alpha mob, but you won't get it until quite late on in your build. With more defense than you have I have died a lot taking on a mob's initial attack wave. Survive that and I'm awesome. Just my 2 cents.
  21. I have a DB/Regen scrapper that is following a similar path. I just dinged 50 and am just starting to look at IO sets. I have some already but need a lot more. I'm not sure if I'll go as far as grabbing all the purple IO sets but the rest of the OP's build looks very much like mine will. I like to team with my SG mates as much as possible so I usually am looks at mobs made for 3 or 4 people. My problem right now is surviving the Alpha long enough for my regen to kick in.

Like the OP I chose the Body Mastery pool and took Focused Accuracy and Physical Perfection. Lately, I have been hearing a lot about Soul Mastery and Shadow Meld.

Question is, is Shadow Meld worth running all the tip missions needed to get my guy on the Red side and then respec, or will the IO sets provide enough defense to survive Alphas from say X2 or X3 mobs?

Thanks in advance for any help.
  22. A teammate of mine has recently discovered a way to make some of his costumes to have an almost neon look to them. Certain parts of his toon's costumes shine bright. He having a great time watching me try and figure out how's he's doing it. I know the bioluminescent costumes offer this effect but you can't change the look of the costume. I think I am up to date on all the game's add-ons as well. So... Can anyone offer up an explanation as to what he's doing?

Just saying, granite+rooted, no speed bonus, and only a friendly kin, will help you. WHy rooted? regen and knockdown protection (I have been knocked down quite a few times in granite). Just a thought
According to Mids. My build with Granite and Rooted shows run speed of 15.9mph. A new tank with nothing shows 14.3, with swift 16.0. Not so?
  24. Going with the speed and recharge philosophy of Call Me Awesome take a look at the other stone/fire thread going and see if there's any help for you in it.
