Romans ripping up stoner

Hi All,

I tested my stoner against Romans and he gets debuffed to bits, then faceplants. He does ok against nemesis and AE.
I'm using the build below, and it is about 80% slotted on my stoner. Am I missing something?

The only thing I can think is you weren't running rooted at the time. It has a sizable portion of your DDR in it.

Possibly you needed actual defense set bonuses to stand up to Romans and not just a mass recharge build? I dunno I'd never play a stand-still, um I mean Granite anything, but I have an Invuln tank and that's about identical on Smash/Lethal Resists and Defenses, and my Invuln does indeed have a build focused on defense bonuses; she does not die to Romans.

Yup, you're running 35% defense.

That's going to get you eaten by Romans when you factor in their stacking defense debuffs.

While all that recharge is nice, you're much better off building for defense cap. And stoners are relatively easy to defense cap.

DDR and capped lethal resistance will keep you alive, thats how my willpower survives with a herd of romans on him, 67% lethal/smash resistance, plus about 1500% regen....

I agree. My stoner's build is totally designed around run speed (I hate slow toons) and I was still able to get him almost capped on smashing and lethal and about 36% on F/C/E/N.

I have never had problems with Romans when I use my SM/SA and I went for +recharge and +run speed as well. I remember doing well against them when I just had SO's a long time ago.

Make sure you have rooted going as that is where most of your DDR comes from.

x2, pretty sure it's better to have these in an AoE since they will check to trigger on each target hit (IIRC). I'd try to slot KoB to max out it's acc/dmg/rech, not sure what pieces get you there though. Big slow heavy hitter's are usually not the best powers for procs, if I understand it correctly.
