Build and Suggestions for a DB/Regen Scrapper

I love my scrapper. He's my favorite character--the one that finally captured me long enough for me to make it my undisputed main. I've done all that I can to make him awesome, but I'd like to make him the best ever (insofar as the powers that I like can help him to be the best ever--I know sometimes my picks may gimp him somewhat).

With this in mind, I've come to you, oh Forum, for the first time. I need to know what you think of my build. Have I convinced myself something is awesome that is, in fact, terrible? Or have I been doing a good job except for there's x and y that I could do better?

One more thing: I've got him slotted with the third tier musculature radial blah-blah long-name alpha enhancement. Right now, I'm trying to decide whether I want the Core or the Radial Paragon enhancement when I go fourth tier. 45% damage and a whole lot of other stuff I don't particularly use, or 33% damage and stuff I do use, like Endurance Modification and Run Speed? Can you suggest pros and cons for one or the other? Right now, I'm torn about half-way between the two.

Thanks to everyone who is willing to help me with this with your opinions. And now, without further ado, this is the build:

Looks okay, but one HUGE mistake jumped out at me: You have Analyze Weakness slotted in Ablating Strike.

That should be slotted like an ATTACK, as the defense debuff will not help you once you have sufficient accuracy to hit reliably. I would slot it with 5 Crushing Impact and an Achille's Heel Chance for -Res, so you get a chance for a useful debuff out of it.

Also, you've gone over 5 5% recharge bonuses. The 5% recharge from Obliteration is doing nothing for you because you already have 5 of them.

If you want to retain the Obliteration set and the Crushing Impacts and Doctored Wounds sets do this: Pull 2 slots out of Integration, move those slots and 1 more (I recommend pulling the proc from Typhoon's Edge, the bonus you're getting isn't that great and it doesn't affect the enhancement of the power) to Instant Healing. Once you have 5 slots in Instant Healing, put the third Doctored Wounds set there instead, skipping the Heal/End so you can cap the recharge on it. With the 3 slots you have in Integration I would do the following: Numina's Heal and Heal/End and a generic Heal IO.

Physical Perfection is an excellent place for the unique procs (Numina's and Miracle), if you don't have them I highly recommend it.

Get a Steadfast Protection Res/Def for either Tough or Resilience.

That's about all I have for you. Regen really likes some defense added into the mix, but if you're happy with it's performance it isn't a huge deal.

I really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

I'll make the changes and repost my new build and see what you all think.

I intend to add Hecatomb to my array of enhancement sets. What power would best work with that set?

Ablating Strike. Use 5 Hecatomb (skip the Damage/Endurance), and add an Achille's Heel Chance for -Res.

Here's the new build with the updates. I'm already noticing the differences, thank you! I think I'll be going Musculature Core Paragon instead of Radial when I get my Favor of the Well. It seems as if it'd give me the greater bang for my buck.

Looks better.

It could still be optimized a bit more, but if you're happy with it, it should serve you well.

Also, as far as Alpha slotting goes, Spiritual is a better bet for a /Regen scrapper. You're a scrapper, so you don't really need the extra damage. Spiritual will give you more recharge and healing enhancement. Note: Since Alpha slots work basically like adding another SO to all the powers that will accept it the Spiritual Alpha will also affect passive regeneration powers such as Fast Healing, Integration, Health, and Physical Perfection.

First let it be said that this is the second time I was going to reply to this thread thinking something could be done better with a slight shift, but didn't after I double checked my numbers and saw I was wrong.

That said, Wouldn't it be better to remove the 2 Heal IOs from physical perfection and add in Numina's Heal and Miracle Heal instead? I am guessing it is the same bonus on the IO but it would give you 2 sets of 12% regen.

[edit]

Also looking at Health only has 1 slot? Wouldn't those 4 slots for the physical perfection be better off going into Health so they can boost a higher base number?

On a character with a different secondary, yes. But when you're already rocking 600% regen, another 15% or so isn't going to make much difference.

Personally, I'd remove the Heal IOs altogether and use those slots somewhere else, like Moment of Glory. Physical Perfection isn't really worth slotting for heal.

I'd drop the 6th Armageddon out of Sweeping strike too, the set bonus for 6 of them isn't really worth it, and it makes the build 300 million more expensive. I'd pull the Damage/Endurance and put the slot in Weave for a LotG Def/End.

I knew those things before, but I left it alone because I didn't want the OP to think I was trying to micromanage how he's building his character.

I have a DB/Regen scrapper that is following a similar path. I just dinged 50 and am just starting to look at IO sets. I have some already but need a lot more. I'm not sure if I'll go as far as grabbing all the purple IO sets but the rest of the OP's build looks very much like mine will. I like to team with my SG mates as much as possible so I usually am looks at mobs made for 3 or 4 people. My problem right now is surviving the Alpha long enough for my regen to kick in.

Like the OP I chose the Body Mastery pool and took Focused Accuracy and Physical Perfection. Lately, I have been hearing a lot about Soul Mastery and Shadow Meld.

Question is, is Shadow Meld worth running all the tip missions needed to get my guy on the Red side and then respec, or will the IO sets provide enough defense to survive Alphas from say X2 or X3 mobs?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It really depends on your attack chain and which attack you use more. I put is in Blinding Feint because I use that attack more so the proc will go off more. If you use Ablating Strike more then it is better to put in Ablating Strike.

I have Shadow Meld on my Regen Scrapper and I love it. I have 20 defense to Melee/Range/AoE so when I use Shadow Meld it soft-caps me. It helps so much I really don't even use Moment of Glory that much anymore.

I think he guessed that I use Ablating Strike probably more than any other attack, barring the Attack Vitals chain.

All right! Here's the final (for now) build. Mostly because I just ran out of respecs. :P

The only thing I would change about that one is to replace one of the Recharge IOs in MoG with a LotG Recharge. Otherwise it looks good.

Edit: I would take Dull Pain WAY earlier than level 30. If you ever exemp this character for a lower level TF, you're definitely going to miss it.
