Have we heard if we can change the powers customization based on the costume slot, or is it going to be one set of power color customization for one character?
-
There is one 'super-tailor' in each of the tailor locations I believe. They are labeled something like cosmetic surgeon or something similar. Not every tailer NPC in the location is like that, only some. And I believe that the cosmetic surgeons can also modify your costume as well, not just adjust your character model and frame...not sure about that one though.

3) The rule of 5. You can only get a certain set bonus up to 5 times in a build. As such, you can make a build that has 5 +6.25% Recharge bonuses, and 5 +4% Recharge bonuses, but if you build one with 7 +6.25% Recharge bonuses, only 5 of them will work. So putting a lot of the same set on a single build might not get you the most benefit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just out of curiosity, does the Rule of 5 also apply to purples? I noticed there are well more than 5 purple sets that give 15% Accuracy bonus and 10% Recharge bonus. If someone were to somehow manage to come up with a build that could take more than 5 of these sets, would the Rule of 5 kick in on these, or are purples exempt? (barring hitting any recharge or ACC cap anyway)
[/ QUOTE ]
No, the Law of 5 still applies to purples (I'm 99% sure). The thing is though that you can only put one of each purple IO in the build. Most builds (there are some, but not many that I've tried) don't have that many places to put that many DIFFERENT purples, except for maybe in powers that really don't need that many slots or the slots could be more effective used in another power. Yes you CAN hit it if you try, just in a practical sense most of the time you won't hit it. -

Mainly what I was referencing there was the fact that tanks and brutes can both slot Taunt enhancements and sets into most if not all attack powers, as they all have a taunt effect. The fact that every attack that these two ATs have has a taunt effect eliminates the need for Guantlet to an extent, making the slight AoE effect the only advantage.
I honestly dont know how much this helps, I would have to play a tanker with it, and then without it, and it's unlikely I will have that ability given to me for testing purposes.
[/ QUOTE ]
The taunt effect IS the guantlet power showing its face. You take out Gauntlet and the 'pokevoke' with the fury inherent there would be no taunt effect on the powers. They aren't separate. The thing different is the taunt effect from Gauntlet and Fury is (I think) the only inherent that you can actually apply slots to directly. Thats what you're slotting in the attacks. The inherent taunt effect. Slots in the brute powers only increase the taunt for the enemies hit. Slots in the tanker powers increase the taunt effect on enemies in the AoE. -
[ QUOTE ]
The problem is that every attack power already has a taunt feature in it, not only on tanks, but brutes as well, so when brutes get the same auto power as tanks PLUS fury...that is when the balance is broken.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe I misunderstood the taunts on the Brute powers compared to Tanker powers, but I thought that Fury was the auto power for Brute, and their attacks only taunted the enemies affected by the power where the Tanker's attacks have a more AoE effect with the Taunting.
At least thats what the wiki says: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Brute
THATs the difference between Brutes and Tankers. As someone mentioned before, Tankers, to a degree, could be considered 'melee controllers' in that they have a better ability to control aggro from the mobs. Scrappers can be better damage dealers. Tankers can take hits better and stir up the aggro more effectively. Brutes are in the middle of the two. Brutes can do very good damage, but not as consistently high as Scrappers without a constant group of mobs to attack. In large groups and teams, it can even out but not always. While they can take a hit like Tankers can, their ability to manage aggro isn't where Tankers' is.
All 3 ATs can amplify their ability to do those by taking and/or slotting different powers and pools to put them in line with the other, but they could end up sacrificing some of their other strengths. That is another important part of the game: You can't have it all. You can be great at some things, not great at others, or you can be OK at everything. Deciding that is part of the game.
Edit - And as far as the argument that maybe aggro management isn't as important as resistance and damage and they are still unbalanced, maybe instead of buffing Tankers, Brutes should get a slight resistance cap reduction, like from 90% to 85%. That would still make them more survivable than scrappers resistance wise, but not as well as tankers. Their damage wouldn't always be as high as scrappers, but it would sometimes, but they have better resistance. It would still let tankers be the AT with the most resistance, thus not taking the place of them once the ATs can cross over. -
Welcome to the game!
Personally, I LOVE kinetics. Fun to play and fun to play with. With their heal slotted properly, the melee characters will love you. Same with transference for endurance. Most people, especially tanks, LOVE speed boost. Fulcrum shift is great as well. Wasn't sure about the set until last double XP weekend, I made a fire/kin just for fun with my SG mates, indending to delete him probably after the weekend. He's now level 50 and one of my favorites still to play. The last few weeks trying to level up my Warshade, I gotta say I love what a kinetic can do to my character. Plus the powers in the set can help mitigate travel if you want to try and go for a travel-power-less build. -

With power customization, I think we should look more at what powersets will DO, rather than what they look like thematically... since with enough customization, the only static things about powersets would be their combat stats (damage type, amount, recharge, etc... most of which of course are modifyable via enhancements)
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this. Depending on how much fx customization they put in, lets say for the sake of argument that they let us change the energy blasts to look like the fx from ice blasts or sonic blasts. It'll look like an ice blaster or sonic blaster, but the effects from the blasts will cause knockback instead of slowing them down or causing a resistance debuff (I think thats what sonic attack does, but can't remember off the top of my head, but not really the point). This might lead to the sets we know completely changing in name. Instead of 'Fire Blast' it'll be (horrible name I know) Damage Over Time Blast. Energy Blast would be "Smashing Blast". Ice Blast because "Slow Blast", etc etc. For the OPs example of wind blast, simply recoloring the energy particles to be grey scale could look like air compression blast flying at someone, or changing the effects of the blasts to look like sonics would also do that, at least in my opinion.
Depending on how much customization they give us, we could be looking at a very interesting game in the future. Those of us that made a character one way, like a fire/fire blaster, may be able to change the effects of the powers to still do the same thing, but now we look like an ice/ice blaster. -

The issue involving random characters appearing in the chat line has been fixed. For example, players should now no longer see “asdawasdsawdsLevel 10 Scrapper LFT”

I use Norton 360. Always liked Norton more, but no particular reason. Considering they are fairly large and still around, I think its safe to assume they know what they are doing for virus protection. I haven't had any problems, but then again, I know not to click on the links and emails from my nigerian long lost deceased relative and am careful with the sites I go to.
I also use UniBlue for spyware and just general registry and computer scanning and maintenance. It seems to work pretty well. The older version I had had a dedicated Spyware scanner in it. Don't see it in there anymore, but maybe it got merged into one of the other components. -

But -darnit- that stupid Radio guy is there... and if I want the raptor pack and badge I just *HAVE* to go there.
If that Radio guy was not there I would gladly level up in Perez Park or The Hollows. Wait! Can I now do Radio Missions in the Hollows? So I can skip KR all together?
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you HAVE to get the radio from the KR detective or will just the first detective that you meet in any zone give it to you?
Meg Mason I believe is the equivalent to radio missions in the hollows. Once you get her phone number that is. -

GvE edition was the last box released before the AE Edition. Pickup the AE Edition and you're golden for that. -
Just something a little different to do rather than running from instance to instance (which with the MA now is about 5 feet). Larger number of players than can ever get into one mission with usually more enemies you get in a mission just fighting until ya drop. Yes, every 5 minutes of every day they can get old quick...but once in a while its a lot of fun. Ended up on a few good PUGs from invasions too...teamed up for the invasion and we all just ended up running missions afterwards for a while.
Lag CAN be an issue for slower machines, but like someone suggested earlier, zoom out..it does seem to help with the lag. You also have the option that if you don't like em, go inside a building or another zone for about 15 minutes, go grab a drink, have a cig, use the can, stretch your legs, etc. -

Players building more for a team support role than a offensive role...like many people who play defenders. -
Every archtype has their own thing going for it that I think preserves its usefulness on its own.
Blasters/Corruptors/Controllers/Dominators/Defenders
Blasters are all offensive
Corruptors are offensive with some support
Controllers are mezzing with a support role
Dominators are mezzing with a more offensive role
Defenders are light on damage but great at support.
Each of those lends itself to a certain play style. Some people are all about damage. Some people are all about control. Some people are all about support. Then there are ways to blend those pretty well too.
Brutes/Scrappers/Tanks/Stalkers
Tanks hold aggro and can take a hit better than any other AT.
Brutes are great for damage if they have large group of mobs cause of fury and can hold some aggro and take a hit, but not as well as tankers.
Scrappers are great for damage more consistantly with smaller groups because their high damage isn't dependent on there being large numbers of mobs for higher damage, but they can't take as much damage.
Stalkers are great for burst damage but are harder to keep alive and have their own playstyle thats pretty unique with their hide abilities.
Masterminds have summoning and support which just sets it apart completely, but can be more complex to play...or more laid back...depending.
I'd say the biggest danger is Scrappers vs Brutes. But I think there is still a place for both roles if we can switch sides based on someone's playstyle. Not saying its not possible for some to become rare, but I don't think there is much danger of it. I guess we'll see once side switching starts happening. If it does start happening, I'm sure the devs will start balancing the ATs more but that would be difficult to predict beforehand which ones will shine and which ones will wither. -

I highly doubt either change will ever actually come in officially.
[/ QUOTE ]
More importantly, one of the devs recently posted that he doubts the change will ever come. Pretty much for the reasons you mention.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know the devs said it...thats the big reason not to expect it. Was just trying to give a better reasoning for the OP other than "I don't think so" or "Because the devs said so" -
Origins...MAYBE...since they have such a little impact on the actual game outside of which enhancements you can use...but that alone would make changing origins a big pain and expensive because all the sudden your SOs would be come invalid and you would have to buy new ones if you use those, which is what the game difficulty is balanced for...which would lead to the logic of 'why would you ever change your origin' since it has such a little impact except to cost you money getting all new enhancements.
Changing powersets would defeat the purpose of having multiple characters and the altitis that is rampant in this game. Why would anyone make a new character if they all they ever had to do to get new powersets and powers on a high level character is to do a respec? Then all the sudden no lowbies are running around in the lower levels of the game. People would have much less of reason to run the game again with a new character if they had a way to just switch the powersets like that. And as so many people complain about the lack of end game content, people would get bored much more quickly and the game would die much sooner.
I highly doubt either change will ever actually come in officially. -

Code is looking into it, and Bab's might be able to do something to make them a lot more transparent. That should make it much more apparent that the targets are phased out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Instead of transparent...which could be confused with invisibility and stealth, would it be possible for them to switch to an inverse color spectrum...like where whites become blacks and the other colors are inverted...like a photo negative (i know that color transformation has a name but I'm not sure what it is off the top of my head). I think it would look cool and be a pretty clear indicator that its phased. Or at least some other kind of indication to not confuse it with stealth. -
[ QUOTE ]
I suddenly have an image in my mind of a Peacebringer using Proton Scatter (The one that fires an individual projectile for each target) and every projectile being a different colour. Not what you mean, but damn if it doesn't make me laugh like an idiot.
Because of that, I must support this suggestion. Can't help but think it'd be harder than it sounds to implement though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hadn't thought of that, but I like it.
As far as difficulty to implement, wherever they pull the expected color from for custom colors, why couldn't that just return a randomly generated color instead of a pre-set one? I'm not familiar with the code or the details on how the engine works, so I could be WAY off, but they way I would have expected it to work would be like that.
Also, not sure if it would make it easier, probably depends on if its any random color or any random color from a user-selected subset, but they could probably get away with not syncing up the colors across clients and have it be different on every client, like the propel objects or alakazamreact emote. -

REALLY hope that it is an oversight, I really dislike the animation/colors of hasten and super speed... so much.
[/ QUOTE ]The list on the overview page is the stuff they've got ready. There's still time between now and i16 to get more sets in, and I think BAB said they're working on Traps already.
[/ QUOTE ]
hmm... what exactly will there be to customize in traps?
[/ QUOTE ]
Look of some of the various devices in the set. Doesn't acid morter put out a green acid halo effect that could be customized, force field gen's shield color, triage beacon's energy coming off of it. Web grendade's webs could be colored or customized. I'm not too familiar with the set, but thats just what's coming to my mind. -
I posted a similar responce in another thread in the player questions section...but I haven't seen where the devs have specifically said we are NOT getting any more that whats listed for customization. Castle mentioned that the proliferation listed sounded final, but didn't talk about customization. They have said somethings were mistakenly off the list of main powersets they did list (poison, pain dom, etc). They have also said they are still working on it and aren't finished, like traps. Even says more to be announced at the bottom of the overview page.
Its too soon to start crying doom about no pool/epic/patron customization. If they don't do it this issue, maybe next or even a 16.5 release. They have the process figured out (or at least almost) on how to do it. Most of the epic and patron powers are clones of powers that are getting customized. And the pool powers, there aren't many that actually interact with other NPCs much, espeically hasten, superspeed and teleport that I've read about the most, which the other character interaction was the complex part to do according to BaB's old power customization FAQ. If they don't come in with this issue, I'm sure they are on the top of the list of things to do for future issues or updates. So sit tight...there's still most likely several months before it is absolutely final...this is the announcement of the general information, not the release notes. -

I upped the difficulty to the max and the Atlas Statue just animated and threw the ball at me.
[/ QUOTE ]
This...HAHA
Can't stop laughing at the image of all those frightened people at the costume contest and leveling up just after running AE missions while the giant statue steps on them. At least thats what's in my head. -
I like this idea, but the difficulty with it will be that not all costume options are available to all body types. Males don't get all of the options that females and huge models do.
Maybe they could have the costume options limited to a subset of costume pieces and colors that the SG leader chooses that work on all body models that the individual characters can build a 6th costume from. -
I would like to request that, if the devs have time while implementing issue 16, that they include some kind of random color or animation selection option in the power customization. For example: on a fire blast, you select random as a color and every time you fire a fireball, a different color comes out.
Ideally I would like to have something where you could select multiple colors to show up in the random color selection, like the color comes out at random, but create a limited subset of colors to red, green and blue, but that may be overly complicated. Even a simple random selection would be nice.
I know you have a lot on your plate with this issue, and like what I'm seeing for it so far from the information given. This was just an idea I had that could be cool for some character concepts -
Maybe I missed it, but did a red-name actually say that pools and epics and patrons WEREN'T included in the customization? I know they didn't say them specifically, but they were listing main powersets...maybe they just didn't list those. Especially epic powers, most of them (that I'm familiar with at least) are just clones of powers that are getting customization so they still may get customization ability just from that. Not knowing what all they need to do to get an individual power to customize I admit I could be wrong about that.
Plus they said more things are coming. And, in recent history, player requests have gotten them to change the scope of an issue (MA increasing to issue 14 instead of 13 & MA being 13). I have seen a lot of requests for Kheldian powersets, VEAT powersets, pool, epic and patron power sets to be included on the boards already. Especially powers like hasten and teleport and super speed that don't really have any projectiles that affect other NPCs and characters I would think would be some of the easier powers to customize, at least from BaBs description in the old Power Customization FAQ.
Maybe the devs will do it, and if not in this issue, I'm sure they'll be on the top of the list of things to do for future issues once they have the customization process hammered down with the current ones. I still thinks its too early, even with the information given today, to start crying about the power customization and what can and can't be. Everything they've said they are going to do is GREAT as is in my personal opinion and I can't wait!
EDITED: Corrected some stuff I had wrong...said proliferation rather than customization, etc...damn late night posting
