Well Positron posted a few things to the Tanker, Dev response thread.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...v=#Post3324660
Some nice things to see there. -

Well, you beat me to it.
Yes. Speaking as a North Carolinian, I find it even more intriguing to wake-up today and find, suddenly and arbitrarily, that an entire island of our state and a primary faction of our history has not only been revised out of our territorial waters, but also *oh the shame of it* ceded to, of all places, Virginia.
It's enough to make me pull out the old flintlock and start heading north!
Reality Check: either someone didn't do their research OR something much more bizarre happened last halloween.

Or maybe they created something fictional, and turns out some people think it is real. Could it be possible? -

Im Told that The "Miss" is the punchvoke missing. This only came up after punchvoke was introduced. Also Mud pots is autohit it never misses in my use of it and ive sat next to +10's with granite and rooted on and Mudpots and it hits everytime.
[/ QUOTE ]
That means that both Earth Fist and Stone Mallet have a small AE Punchvoke effect on them? That's pretty uber if it's true, but I thought that Punch-voke effects were auto-hit?
[/ QUOTE ]
There is Punchvoke, and then there is the bug.
Until Cryptic gets around to fixing it some attacks will hit multiple enemies who are stacked on one another. (2+ Enemies occupying the same space. Which happens more frequently if you like to gather up groups of enemies. I like to taunt a small to medium sized group fall back to a corner and then my wife and I tear them up.) More then once I have done a single target attack and watched it effect more then one opponent.
And afaik Punchvoke is not an auto hit ability, it works kind of like Provoke does. But each Tanker secondary has some kind of Punchvoking action. -
Even if someone starts in Galaxy if they get sent to Atlas for some reason they will get stuck in that huge sucking vortex that is the space under the statue of Atlas.

My understanding of the Global Chat is that for you to get into an actual group of "Global Chat"ters you actually have to type in a command to put you there. Sort of like a more specific chat room then the Zones or Local. So you won't have to ignore it, because unless you actually join the channel you won't even know it is happening.
I am not sure but I believe you can have people on other servers join the Global Chat channels as well. (At least I think that was planned.) -
They were very ambitious when building the Hollows for the Story they developed for it.
COnsidering its size and how much ground you have to cover doing the story missions, having Travel powers makes it much simpler, problem is by the time you get Travel powers at 14 it is almost too late to finish all the missions in the Zone. -

things slip thru the cracks...
we should just bug it if we find anything wrong...
like my phantasms cant one shot bosses... i need to bug this... j/k
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering many of these things that "slipped through the cracks" were /bug'ged weeks ago on the Training Room........ -

See why I said that it shouldn't be released today?
Welcome to Issue 2 - Redux.
[/ QUOTE ]
If only somebody... ANYBODY... had bothered to use Test Server to report these bugs before they went live. So sad...
[/ QUOTE ]
And the worst part is....
[/ QUOTE ]
Holy crap. And I wonder how many more issues are going to pop up.[edit: take my post with a grain of salt, I had thought that was a link in reference to todays prop. So my apologies.] -
I hope there is a simple way to fix it, but I fear you will have to uninstall everything and reinstall the American COH.
-
I have had the Dev Digest thread as a Favorite for my Browser, don't bother using the favorite threads thing because using the Favorites in my browser gives me more efficiency.
Just change the name so it isn't the same as the normal Forums, it will work great. -

Does the guy who wrote this article know NOTHING about the MMO market? From all that I know about this update it is not that much bigger than any other MMOs 3 months worth of updates, actually more like 4 months. Especially if Cryptic keeps with its habbit of heavily recycling, which it looks like they are.
[/ QUOTE ]
Although the author of the article obviously had multiple errors in the type, I would have to ask you the same question you just posed; do you know ANYTHING about MMORPGs?
Because I don't know what MMORPGs you've played, but just as a simple example, I played EQ for a year, paying $12.95 a month without a single free update of any merit. Period.
Unless you consider actually fixing code errors, balancing powers that were imbalanced from the outset, fixing zones that existed at release or the odd, ridiculously simplistic and extremely limited single-zone "event" an expansion.
An Anarchy Online subscription costs $14.95 per month. Notum Wars, an expansion, introduced... well, vehicles mostly. Another feature that was touted in beta but was absent from release.
AO hasn't had a notable update since release. They had a hard enough time with the client and their network starting out. Every update I saw were simply tweaks to existing systems that were broken from the get-go. The patch history can tell that tale.
A DAoC subscription costs $12.95 a month. Other than the addition of Darkness Falls, I saw nothing I would consider a notable update any kind before the Shrouded Isles expansion. Even Darkness Falls couldn't seriously be considered an expansion, because only a limited amount of the subscribers could enter it based on their control of keeps for access.

There is one small(compared to EQ or UO) but relativly succesful MMO which did regular Monthly Content updates. Sometimes they were Significant and other times they were quite small. They released a sequel to that game but it didn't do near so well, and the updates were not quite as good either.
(For those who are interested Turbine's Asheron's Call 1 (Up until Turbine bought complete rights to the game from Microsoft it was $9.95 a month, they raised it to $12.95) and 2. Turbine is the company working on the D&D online game and the Middle Earth: Online game.) -
I am really looking forward to the Global Chat addition, if it works the way I think the description says it does I will be able to play one of my many characters on other servers and still be able to chat with my friends who seem to only stick to Champion.
The Private Chat channel may or may not work over multiple servers. (I hope it does) But being able to see when friends come online on a different server will be a huge help as well. I will be able to pick a character and play it and see when a friend I want to play with comes on. So I can then switch Servers and go hang out with my friends. -

That's some funny stuff. True, albeit I'm sure it's still annoying for States. Sorry to you, States, but really; The Starting post was to clarify matters of what was being worked on, and then he generalizes Regen by saying " It's a concern ", with a follow up being " Concern = Small Tweak ". .. That's not really specific; especially when you place it next to " DA, Ice, and Stone are all getting their Armors stackable ". You know Exactly what is going on with that.
Perhaps if you wanted to make it a " mystery ", I could understand.. but it's still nerve-racking when you post " Invuln Scrappers can't meet the same Resist as Invuln Tanks " next to " Regen is a concern ".
Otherwise I would have no problems. That's why I worry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you should start thinking about taking a break from the game. If any changes or potential changes are "nerve-wracking" for you or about to cause you "a heart attack" perhaps you should stop playing for a few weeks/months and get your priorities straightened out.
Go talk to your doctor and tell them that a possible change to a video game you play is "nerve-racking"... -
Used the go behind a wall thing to get ranged badguys to bunch up. Worked pretty well and let the Fire Fire blaster on our team really devestate them.

VIP Badge does nothing.
It isn't an Accomplishment, so I couldn't put it there.
It isn't an Achievement, so I couldn't put it there.
It has nothing to do with Exploration, so I couldn't put it there.
It has nothing to do with History, so I couldn't put it there.
That left Accolade. I couldn't give it an effect, or the playerbase would be upset that we are "charging money to give some Heroes an advantage over others", and rightly so.
[/ QUOTE ]
You should change the wording on it, then. While it certainly can be read as not conferring anything, when I first read it my assumption was that it would unlock something at some point. Since some badges do convey increases in abilities, this might be considered misleading.
Here's a screenshot, to let others decide how they'd interpret the phrasing: VIP Badge
I would suggest something along these lines: "V.I.P. -- You are regarded with great esteem in Paragon City."
[/ QUOTE ]
I have the Isolator Badge on a couple of my characters, read the description on that. According to the description:

You began your career on a high note, by personally ending the riots of contaminated thugs in the Outbreak Zone.

Meaning I Stopped the Riots in Outbreak. So if I stopped the riots in Outbreak how come everytime I go in with a new alt the Riots are still going on?

When a content patch only happens every 3 months, players waiting for an End Game will grow frustrated. When update 3 activates people will have fun, the level 50s might enjoy themselves for a short time checking out new stuff, and then after a couple of weeks they will be bored again.
It is really to bad they didn't discover the joy of Alternates back when they were in their 30s. Instead they raced past all the content as quickly as they possibly could and are now bored because there is nothing new to do.
How many level 40s were on the boards before Issue #1 released complaining about lack of content?
And after Issue #1 how long did it take them to get to 50?
This game is lacking in content! You are level 50, you are upset about that, ok.
But other people who are not level 50 but instead have 10+ Heroes who are in their teens, twenties and thirties. (There are 11 Servers so you don't have to delete a Hero to make an alternate unless you happen to have 88 slots full.) Would like to see more content for those levels as well.
My geuss is that the Devs have a brand new series of Missions planned for the Kheldian AT. Question is will you go through those missions or skip them for street hunting? -
[ QUOTE ]
Wow..they changed this? his garage was an office building when I did it...vey disappointing.
[/ QUOTE ]
What is disappointing? That they make constant changes to their game or that you are able to make a new Hero and check the changed mission out? -
[ QUOTE ]
Heh I just hope for the lowbies sake that the trick monsters don't spawn at the same level as the person who clicks the doors. Else AP might become suicide for anyone under 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am thinking that since they wanted level 1-4 people in Atlas Park to click on doors for the Test today that you have to be within a certain level Range to get anything from doors in particular Zones.
Probably similar to the level ranges of the Badguys in any Zone. -
I made a character on Virtue because I figured it would be easiest to remember having made a character on that server.
I didn't expect it to be an unofficial RP server.
It looks like those who do RP have a lot of fun with it. -

*shudders*
Hey, to each his own, man, but RPers in a game like this freak me out a bit. And what is it with the word "shall"? They pepper that bad boy in there like they bought it in bulk. When was the last time you used "shall" in normal conversation?
[/ QUOTE ]
Interesting. So what does the letter R stand for in "MMORPG" in the universe you apparently inhabit?
To the original poster: Remember, roleplaying is a form of acting. What they were doing can therefore best be described as over-acting. And pretty poorly, at that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Many people ignore the RP and consider them Massive Multi-player Online Games.
Not all people are comfortable trying to Roleplay so just act like themself.
