Everything else is In-Game, where's GLOBAL CHAT???
Where?
The Dev team is fixing a few things with Global Chat. Once the fixes are in place, QA will run through some tests to see if it's ready to go to the Test Server.
Be patient, it's coming.

SUPER FANTASTIC!!!! We will get notification when it goes to test right, like CUPPA announcing an event to please try out Global Chat, and then voice complaints or bugs yes?
Cool. Just alot of people looking forward to this, and havent heard much about it.

The global chat testing went up on the test server about a month/month and a half ago. They found some bugs when adding multiple servers and are fixing them now.
If you go on the test server type /chatbeta 1 and it will put you on the global chat if the chat server is running. (You will know it worked because it will say your name with a @ infront of it.)
Groovy. But I was on test when it was first released.
I am talking about now, he said they are making fixes and changes to it. I am wondering if they will say........
"Okay Heroes, we need your help on Test Server again to check out the new fixes to Global Chat. Please log-in and then give us feedback of problems, bugs, or difficulties, so that we may make Global Chat the best it can be".
Hey, a Hero can hope cant he?
Thanks for the update. Though it is funny that this has been the same answer given since it was first going to be released a week or so after Issue 2 ("Oh yeah, we are just waiting for it to run through QA!" QA: "Guys, please stop blaming everything on us!")
This is one of my major complaints. Look, I am not looking for an exact date, but a little more info from the Dev's and such wouldnt hurt, it would be better than these Copy & Paste responses.
But they keep it dry, as if they said, "Should be on Test in a couple weeks" and it took a month, some one would be saying "YOU SAID A COUPLE OF WEEKS!", to which I would reply, "But, I said "SHOULD"".
what about alliance chat? or is that the same thing as global, just a diff channel?... ALOT of SGs got dissapointed when it didn't come out.... I mean yea we understand that you had to fix some bugs and all, but ppl anticipated it to go live at the same time as issue 3...
One question-mark is sufficient.
Typing in all caps, or even only a few words, in all caps, is akin to yelling. Would you yell out a question at work?
Manners: "Excuse me, can I see that memo"
How you did it: "HEY HAND ME THAT MEMO!!!"
Just because it's the internet, it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your own pride in how you speak and carry yourself.
Okay 1st off, I use CAPS to emphasize words, it doesnt mean I am YELLING. If thats how you take it, SORRY!!! Too many people always feel that what THEY THINK is what is the standard. This isnt a classroom, its a FORUMS, so thanx for NOTHING, if you wanna reply, lets keep it on TOPIC!

Now to get back to the subject, from what I hear Alliance Chat is totally different than Global Chat. And hopefully a DEV will respond to this as well.
Alliance Chat is suppose to be a way to "Ally" with other Super Groups. Basically if a SG confirms an alliance, a "special" chat almost like Team or SG Chat is availible and when someone types and presses enter, of course all the people in that Alliance will be able to see the chat. Thus, a shout out of "Hey any Phoenix Prime or Knights of Paragon members want to do the Eden Trial??" Thus if both groups were allied, they would see the chat and be able to respond.
At least thats how it was described to me.
Global Chat seems to be the priority, and they are obviously working on it, but when will ALLIANCE CHAT coming? Well your guess is as good as mine. We can only hope to hear more on this as well.
After hearing the children frolicing on broadcast in PI tonight, I have to say I'm less than anxious to see Global--just another chat channel to ignore, I suppose.
My understanding of the Global Chat is that for you to get into an actual group of "Global Chat"ters you actually have to type in a command to put you there. Sort of like a more specific chat room then the Zones or Local. So you won't have to ignore it, because unless you actually join the channel you won't even know it is happening.
I am not sure but I believe you can have people on other servers join the Global Chat channels as well. (At least I think that was planned.)
So how long will QA hold the Global Chat? How much more waiting do we need to do?
What exactly is Global Chat for? And why should I care?

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Global chat is cross server chat. I'm looking forward to it because you talk as an account rather then a character, so it doesn't matter what character you log on as. Most of my friends aren't on my server, so it'll be good for me.

First I've heard that it was multi-server/acct tagged. I thought it was Interzone Chat myself.
Let's Dance!
Two weeks into coh and this is the first I've heard about global chat coming. Very disappointing. It is in almost every game and it ruins the feel of a game. Pointless to argue the point now but I should of realized coh wouldn't dare to vary from the mmog game plan when I saw the cloned EQ classes. All we need now are group ports, unique items and epic quests. Sorry to lament but I thought I had found a unique game after the run of clones I have agonized through in the last few years.

obviously you didn't research global chat before crying about it's implimentation. So let me be the one to inform you of this blunder. CoH's global chat is almost a carbon copy of any IRC based chat service. This is not a 'one large chatroom of doom' system. It is a system where players create their own chat channels, which others can join, moderate, be invited into, be kicked out of, etc.
Hello fellow Heroes and hopefully Dev's and Mod's,
With everything else being in game, I was wondering what the status of the Global Chat system is?
At first I was apprehensive to the idea, but after finding out how it worked and what it will do with making it easier to find friends, no matter what hero, or server they are playing, well, thats GREAT!!!
But where is it?
Will it be coming soon?
Or will it be pushed to Issue # 4?
I am not looking a gift-horse in the mouth mind you, I love the in game features of Issue # 3 and the Winter Event, and have had more fun over the past 3 days.
Just wondering if we might get an update.
Any of you heroes know anything from Test?
Thank you in advance!
