In regard to team dynamics, I am more of the belief that the player(s) behind the archetype(s) has more of an impact on the team than the archetype itself. Without stating the obvious like AT compositions and the ultimate goal for a given team (speed, utility, etc), it comes down to the person behind the toon. I try not to fall into that group of players that thinks there is a magical AT combination or that a team requires a specific AT to achieve an end goal.
I will say that any team that can kill with speed will be successful at nearly every endeavour in this game. I will also stick to my belief in certain ATs promote a selfish play-style that can be detrimental to a team. Point being, dont be selfish with the crack if you are on a kin lol. -
I would kick a player for questioning my superior grasp of rumint (rumor intelligence for you civilians) and my ability to perpetuate it through folly. /end sarcasm. On a serious note, I have seen some idiocy that is has been unparalleled since the (in)famous TV respecs with the flashing green boxes creating more spawns in the reactor. I personally made it my mission to click every stinking flashing green box on one run and guess what? Just as I suspected, **** de cabajo. Now to relate this to the pylons for weakened hami...it if moves kill it is my motto. What can I say? I am a shard ***** now. Next thing you know people will be saying they need to separate the nictus from Rom, or you have to have a Stoner to complete the STF.
I have been privileged enough to run many a TF/SF/Trial in just about every conceivable fashion and I have no reason to believe any of the crap that some oxygen thieves spout. I guess if people didnt question things the world would still be the center of all creation, flat and inhabited by by single-celled organisms that cause amoebic dysentery.
Things I do know for sure on the LGTF: toons that have holds typically have a tendency to hold the mitos; pylons up or down are kind of like polishing the brass on the Titanic as it was going down...pointless, but if it makes you feel better, go for it; I will always try a new tactic until I find one that works better or the new tactic I tried was a pile of baboon dung; and the one thing I have found out beyond a doubt from the many LGTFs I have participated in is to always question half-witted statements that sound completely ridiculous and contrary to intuition, observation and experience. I understand leaps of faith, but good grief the last two questions on your post Chaos are just plain scary lol. I can see the misinformation for comic relief kind of like Baghdad Bob, but damned if there is a good cross-section of players that will believe and do believe some of the nonsense espoused by some "leaders" of teams.
Stuff like that always reminds me of personal communication exercises in the service. By the time the original message gets to the intended recipient you have gone from delivering eggs to dropping nuclear sheep on marionettes in Durkastan. -
Agreed. One can hope for love and attention some day. I will keep making it work though lol.

The only good things about Time Bomb and Gun Drone happen to be I can pick other powers that are infinitely more useful. Like whirlwind and flurry. And I am a devout AR/Dev player...that is how bad those two powers suck. I am still hoping that someday we get the 007 Trip Mines with no interrupt. Devices has a good set of mitigation powers, but unless you are competent enough to deploy them properly on a team, you will probably be laughed at.

"Purple recipes are not good, go ahead and give them to me."
Although I am quite sure that should qualify for best misinformation. -
Never underestimate the power of the female anatomy to hypnotize the male villain...and hero alike, thus creating an opportunity to gain the advantage in attacking a weak(ened) enemy. Seriously though, there is an over-emphasis in many comic characters in anatomical characteristics. Look at secret identities and many super-characters play down their looks and physiques. While I do admire sweater kittens of most shapes and sizes, anatomical symmetry is a wonderful thing to see in spite of how freakish it may be. Do I think roid heads are practical as far as being 300lbs and 1% body fat? No. Do I think every woman on the planet should be 36-24-36? Again, no. I do have to suspend my disbelief in this game on every occasion for powers...cough cough...AR...and I do suspend disbelief on 98% of the toons made in this game.
My point being is that I like all boobs, regardless. Boobs rule. Big, small, they are all good in my book. Well all of them except maybe the gravity challenged pairs, but as long as they dont rest in the cereal bowl I suppose they are all good too. What can I say? I am visually cued. -
Rogue alignment swap. I had zero mission arcs open on the toon prior to the alignment swap. All my other rogues ran it fine with missions arcs open prior to swap. No worries though, I have enough toons to worry about Alpha slotting as it is lol.
If this were the case on all of my 50s, then I would probably be mad as a bovine, but my others are fine. I reckon it will get fixed at some point, so I will not freak out since it is not one of my main toons anyhow. -
No story arcs were open on that toon. I ran it fine with my other ones so far. Just seem to be unable to get him to talk to me on that toon. He must not like old spice.
Edit: Mender Ram would not speak with the toon from the initial point of contact solo or teamed. He just doesnt like old spice. -
I have the same issue on one of my Kin corruptors. I even ran the arc with a friend from start to finish via his toon and still got nothing rewarded for it and Mender Ram told me to kick rocks lol.

Quote:I think you are right on with the reality and altruism aspect of the statement. It is how we believe things to work and how they actually work in practice where we disconnect lol. I believe in being a pseudo-responsible business owner that owes my success to my consumers. The problem is the reality of the theory in practice being shattered by the wide variety of personalities and beliefs at play in the markets. It illustrates the belief of the ideal instead of acceptance of the real ideal in practice. This is getting a bit off-topic, but saying "capitalism regulates itself as long as buyer discipline is strict" is about the same as saying "communism works as long as each individual values the common good more than their own satisfaction". The statement itself may be true, but is only applicable to a very idealised situation, completely removed from the reality of how humans work.
It is always easier for people that are not successful or have unrealistic expectations in the markets to call marketeers evil instead of acknowledging their own failure to adapt to the tactics and techniques that make many of the marketeers successful in gaining inf. I think that was where I was going prior to my brain waking up. Thanks for kick starting my neurons -
Just remember a cardinal rule of capitalism and business in general: if a consumer is willing to pay the price, then the goods are not priced too high. The game is specifically designed for hyperinflation in the markets since there is no cap on money supply in circulation as it is generated from nothing and thrown into a limitless pool. What is the base good or asset that backs the currency? Nothing really. Inf is a fiat currency that fluctuates in real value based on shortages and excesses in market demand. Moreover, if I have something that someone or a group of players wants, I am going to price it at what I believe to be the value of the time I put in to get said item to include matching or dropping slightly below current market trends. This is how a good business continues to thrive: adjusting to maximize profits when the consumers support it and saving for the imminent downturns.
The average consumer is not an excuse for dictating how or why prices should be lower or even regulated. Unite the consumer base and exercise buying discipline. Capitalism does regulate itself within the confines of limited money supply and survival of the fittest without external regulation by idiots, aka government agencies and econ PhDs that have never worked in the private sector. Which is why buyer discipline has to be strict. Inflation, as well as deflation, are entirely controlled by the consumer, yet the consumer(s) always want to play the victims.
Morality has no place in business as evidenced by the PvP aspect of the markets. Property and ownership have a funny effect on the haves and have nots in reality and inside virtual property markets. Value will always be subjective as are most other things in the physical world, therefore people will pay varying prices across the spectrum of the power buyer, the frugal buyer, the scrooge, the entrepreneur and the beggars.
While my belief is just as subjective as the others, you cannot hope to insult anyone that uses the market by claiming prices are high. I do think that some prices are high because the people that buy them are high for paying that price instead of earning it. However, I do know that I cannot possibly blame anyone that lists high and gets what they listed it at. That is just what the market is because the consumer is weak. I will use that weakness to my advantage. That is the truth to consumption of supply. I hope I made some sense, because looking back at it now, I am still asleep. -
You can try to implement any and all sinks you can think of, but the fact remains that you will never deflate a market that has no cap on currency in circulation. Especially since the currency reproduces on the scale of virii and bacterium. Not to mention you have consumers with excess income and no spending discipline for the most part.
In-game economies should at least have some form of economic sense applied to it. I wonder if any of the devs are entrepreneurs or economists?
It's a game and the market is a game. I think I will stay away from treasuries and continue to buy hard assets like alchemical gold and alchemical silver. Giggity. -
I wouldnt mind seeing Time Bomb replaced by an RPG or some other rocket launcher lol. However, I do think it should be something more along the lines of a demo-charge like C-4. Since I highly doubt the devs will make any changes to Time Bomb in the next 2 years (think how long it took for Gun Drone to get a change), at least put a huge stun on it with a remote trigger. This would absolutely create better synergy on teams for a /Devices blaster. Since Issue 1 I have never taken either Gun Drone not Time Bomb on any of my Devices blasters.
Speaking from a soldier's point of view, I would love to see a remote demo-charge replacing Time Bomb. I would also be happy with time bomb having a massive stun (as should trip mines having minor stun potential with the KB it already has, but that is a whole different wish list). I may be more concerned with how things work in real life than in the concept of the game, so I know I have a skewed perception of performance for devices. I still think highly of the set when it is being used by competent players that dont rely on alpha strikes.
Some cool ideas in this thread. Polish the ideas up and we may catch a developer's eyes lol. -
I reckon a company net income of about $58M US is bad for the 1st quarter.

Quote:It is a person like the one you mention that gets my alt build with Run IOs six-slotted in speed boost.Playing my Kin I got chewed out by a scrapper for targeting through him. I said "My heal needs people in melee range of a mob. You're within melee range of a mob." to which I got a "It's rude, stop leeching."
So... uh... since I usually play melee and love when the ranged target through me (especially when I play one of my tankers), did I miss a memo about keeping someone targetted to target through them being rude? -
Quote:I think you may be mis-applying devolving (SWG, HGL, etc) for evolving (CoX). Although I can see the point about being indecisive, I think there is a solid direction with continuous development for CoX. People will eventually get sick of something that is static. I took 18 months off of this game after ED went live, and now the evolution post-ed (IO system) has assuaged some of that fubardness called ED. I do feel that most of the changes over the duration of this game have been for the better, although suppression has still irked the hell out of me since mobility is a key facet of all combat lol.Not even close. Good MMOs pick what they do well and go with it. For example, this game isn't still deciding what it is. It's a Superhero combat simulator. Everything is oriented towards making a custom superhero and fighting villains with them. WoW is a PvE Raid and Loot game. While some have other elements (Like tacked on PvP), the core of the game is very clear and focused.
Some games that couldn't decide "what they were":
Star Wars Galaxies
Tabula Rasa
Auto Assault
Hellgate, London
See the pattern? -
Anyone that honestly thinks FA and RoA are overpowered has not played the set. After nearly 6 years, the devs actually have some merit with damage to recharge ratios that pretty much even out with all the sets. All statistics aside, there will always be a subjective interpretation to a set being "underpowered" by crying foul on another set or sets that have been nerfed and buffed more times than months played by most people.
Pistols damage and recharge are low and long, an will likely be addressed in due time when giving solid feedback.
Recharge: most times should be lower and possibly a damage increase.
Animation time: this is what really makes me not like DP so far. I was never a fan of Woo Foo gunkata crap, but there were a bunch of people that always drooled over it. DP will probably get its activation times decrease just as AR did.
Range: I do think the ranges should be in line with Archery. If anything, DP should be a hybrid of AR and Archery.
I do absolutely believe DP is weaker than all other primaries since I know the set needs IO Set bonuses to gain performance versus SO and IO builds. DP is playable given survivability powers like tough and EPP/PPP resistance/defense oriented tweaks in a build.
I reckon that the devs will eventually take heed to the player base majority and/or the well presented cases of the issues in the set. I also think that getting dual pistols sets much sooner than expected by some is a gift that should not be written off from the start. Every set in this game has undergone changes (some for better and some for worse...cough..Regen..cough cough).
Dual pistols has a great unrealized potential as it stands. But this is also the first live iteration of the set, so we have to expect tweaks to it eventually. -
All I know is this: this thread is about to become epic! Wisecracker remark reserved for myself lol. Ahh heck, why not wait until she is 50 so she is fully slotted? I mean why peak early and why peak almost mature?
-
Dark/Rad fender is a good choice. Dark has plenty of debuff and a superb PBAoE heal as well as fear and Shadow Fall. Not to mention the potential of Rad secondary slotted with Achilles' Heel procs and more -def.

Quote:Lets not use fallacious logic here. Think about the THREE powers in AR that use bullets. Those three fit in line with the powers in DP for ammo selection with the exception of buckshot being shotgun rounds (not much you can do there other than beanbag rounds, rubber bullets, slugs and flechette, with a remote possibility of a sabot round and maybe even an HEI round). Of course my 11 years in the army were indeed full of lies about APHEI, Kinetic penetrator,Tracer and SLAP rounds for rifle ammunition and big gun ammo. I could see a beanbag dipped in kerosene though...Not to mention those darn lies in The Punisher comics lol. On a serious note, I am curious to see the numbers and ranges on Dual Pistols. Not to mention it wouldn't make sense. What good would incendiary and cryo rounds do? Only four powers in AR actually shoot bullets. Then you have a grenade, a beanbag, two flamethrowers, and shells. Would it be shooting cryo fire? Incendiary beanbags? As amusing as that might be.
Rifles and pistols come in a variety of calibers and ammunition types in real life as well as some BFG types in comics, so I just want some clarity on how the ammunition will play out for other firearms based powers. Regardless, I will be AR till the game dies.
But I do have my DP/EM toon name hidden deep away lol. I know parity is a long shot in this game, but again, it never hurts to hope. -
Honestly, you can get "rich" in this game through poor consumer spending discipline, just like real life. Excessive need or faulty logic usually prevail in making a consumer pay an unrealistic or cornered price. Not to mention the patience factor. Best way to put yourself in good financial condition in this game is by landing unique recipes, high demand recipes and high demand salvage. Bid low, post high. It really is easier than it sounds.

Quote:Yeah I am not holding my breath, especially since the S/L resist update way back when that made me a bit less blood thirsty about my FA bursts lol. I just figure that a darn pistol wielder getting the option for incendiary rounds, etc. should hopefully carry over to my big bullet launcher lol. At least for continuity's sake lol. Never hurts to hope a bit. While that would be very nice, it's also very unlikely.
Current speculation is that Change Ammo is an actual power in the Dual Pistols set. Adding that into Assault Rifle not only breaks the cottage rule, it bulldozes it and builds a freeway bypass.
Also, has any pre-existing set been changed when a new mechanic/trick is debuted in a new set?
