Acctually, I have, and I very much enjoyed that mission. Another thing that this game doesn't do for me very often is make me scream "OH SHI-" like a little girl when I round a corner and trip a bomb. That mission is sadistic and exactly what the game needs more of: A genuine sense of peril.

I wonder how many years it's going to take before people realize Knockback isn't broken, you're just doing it wrong...
Also, no. -
Fame is a good idea too, the point is there should be some additional reward for a mission type designed to be a bigger challenge.
Keeping this bumped up because I really like the idea, and I kinda want more opinions on it. -
Who RPs anymore? I would, but the only RP I ever see is the highschool drama that goes on in Pocket D. And even my 19-year-old character want's no part of that crap.
I just quietly compile a storyline in my head that will never, ever find paper, and noone will ever know of. -
Yesterday whilst rampaging across the Rogue Isles, I cam across an interesting scenario. I had a paper mission to steal the Sea Lute from the Tsoo, so without half a thought I went on to do my business. But as I reached the last room and opened the door, a Boss was waiting right in front of me. He said it was all a trap! I was taken quite off guard, but took him out with the usual method of fists to the face.
But it struck me as differant. I've never fallen into a random trap before, it acctually caught me by suprise and in this game that's no small feat. But it was a bit lacking as far as traps go, and in the end the Sea Lute was there as advertised. It could have been much more exciting, much more threatening. What if the item in question was never there to begin with, and I was instead jumped by 20 Tsoo at once? What if the game had suddenly decided it was time to test my limits and acctually try to kill me for once?
Then it hit me: Deathtrap missions. A random chance that an existing radio/paper mission will instead be complete setup. Now, I know what you're thinking, it's not very fair right? Well, that's why you make it a part of the existing difficulty system. Add an option: "I do/do not wish to encounter Deathtrap missions." The downside? Deathtrap missions are designed to be a major challenge, and you are unable to leave alive before all threats are neutralized. The benefits? Enhanced XP/Inf rewards, maybe a small amount (1-2) of merits.
What say ye? -
Holy text wall.
Well, I read about half of that, and I don't really get what you're asking for or whatever, but I might as well share my Bots naming theme because I thought it was clever. Each tier is based on a differant phrase:
"The whole Lock, Stock, and Barrel." - Battle Drones
"The whole Kit and Kaboodle." - Protector Bots
"The whole Shabang." - Assault Bot
Can you name Lore pets now? Last I saw you couldn't. Either way it throws off my naming scheme pretty badly. -
Two things to note: Disorients/Holds are much easier to resist and/or find protection for. Pretty much every defensive set has some degree of Disorient or Hold protection. Slow resist/protection is not nearly as common, and recharge slow is even less so.
Secondly, this is not a question of "Is it imbalanced?" it's a question of "Does it make you want to punch puppies?" I can deal with a long disorient or hold, heaven only knows how many I've taken to the face over the years. But movement/recharge slows are just the biggest ***hole move in the game. Oh sure, you can still technically move and attack...If you don't mind moving like a slug on vallium. It's a matter of frustration. -
Just to say:
People might hate Black Hole and call it useless. I say there are plenty of times when I need to call a time out on an entire enemy wave to let my teammates take a breather. Endgame it might not be so useful, but right now it's already proven it's uses. The same applies to cage powers, Detention Field allows me to put anything in stasis while I deal with other targets. I'd rather keep an EB caged while I clean up the chaff, rather than deal with everything at once. -
I could totally go for one of the OMGWTF Chainsaw/Broadswords from .hack//G.U. Or just any kind of giant chainsaw, really. I want an effing chainsaw.
-
I honestly want to know who thought this was a good idea:
-72.00% run speed
-4.37 max run speed
-40000.00% jump height
-20.00% strength to recharge
30 GOD D*MN SECONDS
That is half a freaking minute of being practically immobile, as well as suffering from the nerve-fraying Tiny Icon Syndrome. And nothing stops them from stacking multiple Glue Grenades on you, or even worse staggering them to perma-glue you. Stroking my face with a cheese grater is more fun than this.
My suggestion is that Glue Grenade does what it looks like it does: Lays a ground effect which debuffs targets currently in the AoE. If for some reason this is too intuitive, then for the love of Nemesis cut down the duration. It's not game-breaking, it's not overpowered, but it sucks all the fun out of mid-level Mayhems and turns it into a massive ball of aggrivation. -
Okay, so...$15 a month gets me the same thing it does now, plus some other stuff like (another) ingame currency.
I can deal with that. -
This new CoH Freedom business is confusing the hell out of me. As if it's not enough that we've got a myriad of differant "Merits" and "Points" already, now this premium/VIP thing is just ARRGGHWGWGWRGUIWNFNSKLNFLN
What a cluster-f***.
Alright. I just want to know one thing: Can I just slap 15 clams on this game every month and ignore the changes? Because I have a ton of characters and stuff, and I don't want to lose access to them because Paragon decided to adopt a psychotic payment system. I don't even care about the shuiney new costume parts anymore. I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE D*MN GAME THE WAY I ALWAYS HAVE!!
Why did you have to change? What we had was perfect. Now you're making me want to start seeing other MMOs...
Just thinking about having to navigate this microtransaction crap and it's effects on my characters is enough to frustrate and depress me. -
Just a random thought that ran through my head recently. When I imagine my characters speaking, some of them are based off real actors. Which leads to the thought "If my character was ever in a cartoon, they would be voiced by _____."
For example, my main character Capt. Stormrider was partly inspired by Jayne Cobb of Firefly, so I sort of ended up applying Adam Baldwin's voice to him. My latest character, Max Violence, I envisioned as being sort of a shreiking madwoman in the heat of combat, which brought to mind Venus Terzo who played Blackarachnia in Beast Wars.
Has anyone else ever picked an actor who would lend a voice to your character? Or heck, let's go even further if you want: Who could portray your character in a live action film? -
Quote:Probably because you can't take two steps in Cap without tripping over a Goldbricker. They have a ton of story behind them and the game spends so much time building up thier leader, all for nothing. It's not so much that I want high-end craziness with the Goldbrickers, I just want to see the guy everyone in Cap is talking about.I think the Goldbrickers are right where they want to be. They're just high-tech thieves that operate out of Cap Au Diable. They don't have any goals beyond stealing things to make money, so why would they get involved in all the craziness we tend to get into later on?
Anyway, most of the CoV zones have some group based out of the zone that pretty much vanishes once you leave it. I never see people wanting more Cage Consortium or Scrapyarders after Sharkhead, Mooks after Port Oakes, or Contaminated after Mercy, what makes Goldbrickers so special that they should have more content? -
Seriously, just one simple request: Make King Midas already. There's an entire enemy group under him and half a million referances to him, yet he doesn't exist. Not much more to say beyond that.

Bump and update:
Just ran into my third incident, during the "Steal Neuron's Cyborgs" mission for Dr. Hez-something-or-other in Neutropolis. I've already ticketed one issue and autocompleted another, now I'm just getting angry.
I THINK WE NEED A FIX ASAP. -
Quote:Pretty much this. As it stands, being 50+1 makes pre-Incarnate content laughably easy. It may not seem like much, but a differance of one level alone makes for a huge differance in power. A level 50 enemy is no threat to a 50+1.For what it's worth the Devs have said they are planning to give us more Incarnate trials on a very regular basis, like a new one every Issue type basis. Don't be blinded by the idea of "only" having two to do right now - the Devs have always planned for much more content in this area.
Also it ought to be amazingly obvious to everyone how much of the game would have to be reworked to actually allow for a "general level cap" increase. For starters all of the critters, powers and enhancements would have to scaled up to account for levels beyond 54. At this point it'd probably be easier for our Devs to give us CoH2 than it would be to re-engineer this game for a level cap increase.
Besides the whole idea of an "increase in a level number equating to more content to do" is a completely old-fashioned way for MMOs to operate anyway. I'm actually glad the Devs of this game came up with an alternative to that tired old trick games have been using for decades. -
So I'm sure this has been said before, and I don't know if it's a bug or WAI, but...
I'm getting tired of seeing my Ion Judgement do nothing because my target was killed during the cast time. I don't know how the whole jump mechanic works, but what I do know is any targeted AoE power in th egame will splash off a dead target, so long as it was started while they were alive. In fact, pretty much every power short of snipes and Twilight Grasp calculates everything as soon as you click it, then executes regardless of what conditions have changed during cast time.
So why can't Ion Judgement calculate it's jump path on activation? Or whatever the heck needs to be done, I'm just really sick of getting screwed because it has such a long cast time and my team went ballistic on my target. -
All I know is, Trials are no differant than current TFs. Except it's only one mission and scales for more players. Stomping Seige and Nightstar is identical to stomping Romulus, just with more lag.
If you want Raid-level annoyance, go try Barricuda SF. Reichman is a hoot, half an hour of pounding on a mountain of hitpoints. -
I'll just link my own thread here:

Long story short: I only get work maybe 1-2 days a month, and this event for my home server, the only server I have characters on, Virtue, falls on the exact day and hour I am working. My luck is apparently just THAT BAD.
imadbro -
Y'know, I'm unemployed. I have a LOT of free time. About once a month I get a little work filming music videos for some cash. And since a friend of mine was kind enough to foot the bill for my CoX account, I spend a large portion of my free time playing this game.
So when I found out that this one-time-only event is occurring precisely at the only time I have work this month, I was a little pissed. I mean come on, guys...Every other event has lasted at least 48 hours. Some of us have things we need to do, don't screw us out of this.
And what's up with this account-wide badge for playing on Freedom? I don't have any characters on Freedom! When the hell did we start having server-unique events? -
Quote:I'm currently sitting in this mission awaiting aid. I've said Pratoria was sloppy from the day it was released, but I think this tops the pile. Between this issue and the still unresolved shader issues causing absurd levels of lag...I am very dissapointed that this stuff made it past testing. In the mission given by Transmuter where your Powers Division squad gets ambushed by Reese, the door leading to the roof (and Reese) was blocked by some kind of piece of machinery. No way to get through. Needed a GM to help.
EDIT:
After having a GM assist me with that, I was able to continue mission. One unfortunate caveat is that mission cannot be autocompleted, so it really needs a priority fix if the GMs ever want to get a break.
However, now I'm dealing with the "red-on-green door" issue in the mission "Put Down Cockatrice" for Chimera. Thankfully, I was able to skip it. But others may wish to be wary of mission #3 of Chimera's arc.
