Union fell over too, I can log in, all characters read 'Map: Unknown'.
HOW DO I FIND MAP?! \(o_o)/ -
I think, like others, uniqueness should come from the AT, not the Powerset. If you don't have a concept for [Powerset] for [AT], then fair enough, but others can and do come up with things that would fit.
I'd love to see the day when all applicable powersets are shared between all applicable AT's, and it's the AT and the power changes to the sets that sets them apart, rather than someone thinking it 'doesn't make sense'. -
CoH Freedom's ability to make Heroic Brutes from the get go in Paragon City let me make my Fire/Fire mutant reporter, Natasha Sheers. Fury was perfect for her, as she succumbs to the desire to burn more things and burn hotter the more she uses her powers.

3 Masterminds to 32, 4 if Beast Mastery comes out tomorrow
A Dominator to 32
A level 45, 42, 41 and 40 to 50
Other assorted levelling. -
A Nacht Fist enters a room after hearing a commotion. He looks around to see the broken bodies of his comrades. Some are groaning or whimpering. Others don't make a sound. There's no sign of anyone else. He looks around, trying to find telltale signs of who the attacker was and where they went.
Pain, so intense that it could almost be white hot fire, surges through his body. Trying to turn, he soon realises his body isn't responding. Realization dawns in his agony-addled mind just as the light leaves his eyes.
Looking down at the ground, Column Breaker smiles. More approach, their footsteps echoing down the warren of tunnels and bunkers. Wrapping the shadows around himself he fades from sight, readying himself to break whoever approaches.
I'm Zortel, and I approve of Super Strength for Stalkers. -
Dark Astoria - Monday 12th March, 0703 Hours
There was blood between them. It ran down their limbs, soaked their clothing, stained the floor and filled the air with its metallic tang. The only difference between them was one stood, the man.
His face was drawn from exertion and ashen from the act. One hand barely gripped a rune-inscribed axe, the left side of it looking distinctly unfinished and unworked. The staff in his other hand had been broken at one end. His suit was in tatters, crisp white shirt coloured sanguine from his wounds. But he stood victorious.
She was the loser. Her left eye destroyed by a gouging jab from the butt of the axe. She had claimed half of the axe from him, but lost half of her staff to get it. The other bodies on the floor, further from her, kept her company in death though. Acolytes, students under her tutelage. They had given their lives to protect their mistress.
Solomon Karos turned and walked away with faltering, unsteady footsteps. His wife was dead at his own hand. He had broken his oath to protect her, but only as she had broken her vow to honour and obey him.
Mister Ephemeral awoke with the memory of that smell of blood thick in his nostrils, fresh as the day he shed it. In the corners and on the walls of the small apartment in Toffet Terrace he was hiding in, wards glowed dimly, their power almost drained.
Raw magic pulsed from him to reinforce them. While he could not muster the will to leave, he could still defend himself. As he began to work on another memory crystal his thoughts drifted to the metahumans he had met the night before. He could only hope that the Hand of Battle and her fellows would have left the zone by now, delivering his report to Azuria. -
(( Hey there! Seeing as we have this thread Nitro made giving us a nice little schedule of how the events of i22's Dark Astoria arc will play out over the past 5 and next 23 days, I thought we could do with a thread for fiction, in the same vein as Praetorian and Rikti invasions in the past.
This is the thread that contains the schedule.
Seeing as the final event requests those able to come to Astoria to fight to distract the forces of death, that also presents another opporunity for people and groups to get involved.
In any case, to kick things off a little.))

Dark Astoria - Sunday 11th March, 0413 hours.
I had arrived just over a day ago, and already the foul magic here has begun to affect me. I had hoped my skills and prowess would have protected me more, but my mind wanders to things I have not thought on in many years. Past deeds, past regrets, and the guilt and strife they caused.
I am Solomon Karos, and I leave this memory rune here in the hope that should this perverse, tainted land drain me of my will to live, someone will know of why I am here.
I am a Spellbreaker. It is what I am as well as what I do. My mastery of illusions and hexes allow me to stand against rogue and insane practitioners and capture them for treatment. I am employed by MAGI, a division of the FBSA. I was sent here to take readings and information on the events that are transpiring in this zone, and to give a reliable and informed report to those who requested my aid here.
My acceptance may become another, albeit short-lived, regret. I hope to inform you as to why on my next entry. I must relocate and re-ward to prevent them from finding me. I would leave this place if I could, but both the spirit and flesh are weak.
S. Karos

Asking the doubles in the Vance/Adair arc if they have a mediporter, and if not, sending them out right that moment to get one.

A lot of NPCs tend to be friends, relatives, minor heroes, children, partners, when it comes to writing and roleplaying my characters.
Rushmore has his 'Cavalcade of Villainy' from back home in South Dakota. That includes CSA fangirl and empowered hero Confederacy Caroline, the man who inflicts 'why bother?' on his enemies Captain Apathy, crazed mastermind Ad Liberace, the four armed Communist Manyfisto and his eye-beam blasting partner in crime Red Glare, the easily angered by minor details Bridezilla, urban superthief and archer Robbin' Hoods, fallen basketball player and singer mutant Slamfunk, and the healing witch queen of the seas Sovereign Pacific. -
Was it forgotten about, or did Mister Ephemeral make people forget it so he could steal it before he headed into Dark Astoria to get readings and information about the area?
-
Cool, I always notice the CoH and CoV boxes in the back of their living room, and of course Stewart's comic shop has a number of things in, including the hero logo shirt as worn by Captain Sweatpants, a Freem Shirt, and some posters.
-
Excellent stuff, especially the Sexual Psychic Overload one. Blood Red Arachnid is right, there's always fun in the problems of powers.
-
I have the ATIO Proc in AS. When I hit someone from hide with it, my MA/Nin Stalker disappears, only to nail another target with Cobra Strike or Crippling Axe Kick (Not yet in possession of Crane Kick or Eagle's Claw).
It is delicious. -
I prefer 'A' characters to 'The' characters, for many of the reasons as stated above.
Rushmore is 'a' hero empowered by the Spirit of (the United States of) America. There may be others. His archenemy is Confederacy Caroline, who gains her powers from the comparatively diminished Spirit of the Confederacy.
Zortel is a scientist who used to own a business in the city, doing high tech work with nanomachines and energy systems. She's was 'the' owner of ZorTel Industries, but that was her company, so it's okay for her to be that.
Meanwhile, Nachtbrecher is the leader of a US Government Special Ops team dealing with the strange, but that leaves plenty of room for other teams. -
Quote:I thought it was more 'Here's a mission from their viewpoint to show you some more background information and show how your actions have affected things in the larger picture'.I'm moaning that the personal missions are the latest, most blatant way in which CoH has been changed from a game into a movie where your character is not the star.
But then again I'm not someone who thinks everything has to be about my heroes, am glad that we're seeing plot advancing, love the personal story missions for being able to see a different perspective on events, love seeing NPCs getting fleshed out, don't think I should be able to warp NPCs into whatever I wish because I AM THE PLAYER IT'S MY SHOW WHY ARE YOU GUYS GETTING SCREEN TIME!?
I want to see more Personal Story Missions. I hear they have some interesting tech in the works that could really make them interesting, by giving you the ability to use temporary powers. So non-combat PSMs could become Combat PSMs.
And Dark Astoria made Rushmore feel like the All-American hero he is. He took on two armies by himself, for pete's sake! And that final mission of the zone's story arcs? I spent ages just wandering around to see who had gathered. It was a feeling like no other. -
We should consider a thread for fiction relating to this event, and perhaps using this thread to set up plot/inform others of what's going on, that sort of thing.

I'll say one thing for Laser Swords Online:
It brought me back to this game, and hard.
I quit playing CoH for a while, got intrigued by Laser Swords Online, and dived in on getting it. Getting my Soth Marinater to 50 through the class story lines was fun, but then everything stopped abruptly. My companions had nothing to say about my deeds, my wifely companion sent me a couple of e-mails about marriage, but that was it.
All of a sudden, the various annoyances I had with the game came crashing in, and I dropped my sub and resubbed here.
To the place where I had the freedom to play as I wanted, with quicker travel, a better chat system, less loading between areas, no bugs that would lock my system up for 15 minutes on exiting the game, no annoying UI pop ups that would interrupt whatever the hell I was doing, closing my windows in the progress.
While I'm annoyed at the money I spent on the game, I'm grateful it brought me back home. Just sad that my temporary falling out with this game has meant no loyalty stuff for me this April. -
A win that I'd like to see, and would suggest at the Player Summit if I was there, would be for heroes to take Perez Park for the Galaxy City refugees, driving the gangs out of Hells Highway and such, and starting to make the park itself safe.

For those wondering, all the surnames of the soldiers are surnames from those who attended the 2008 Omega Sektor Mini Con in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Every so often I find my own surname, a rather distinctive and rare one, and it makes me smile.

Quote:Forbin_Project gains +100 Approval for mentioning the awesme Brennan Mulray.I could see the Static Prison or the attacks using hand gesture similar to the ones used by the Electricity mutant Brendon on Mutant X.
Also, I've been hankering for an Electic Buff/Debuff set for a while now (As well as an Earth/Stone Buff/Debuff set as well. I'm big on the synergy) so this gets a thumbs up from me. -
Titan Sweep with the Going Rogue Preorder Knockback Enhancement in.
Bataswing! -
I lost my dad this Christmas Eve to cancer, so while it wasn't as sudden and unexpected, I still know what it feels like. He was going to be 65 this July.
The only thing I'll say is treasure the years of memories, and use them to guide you in harder times.
The game can wait for another hero to return. -
Bank 3 for the next VIP Costume set, every one over use to claim Super Packs. That's what I plan on doing anyway.
