You just won't need hasten. Quickness will be hasten enough for you.
And I'd be taking the antimez toggle the instant it shows up - 10, right? It's been a while since I played my SR. Not a breath later. Not sure about the 3 slots in it, either - my MA/SR had just two rech slots, and I don't recall any issue with a gap in protection. -
BS/Will has yet to get boring for me. Disembowel is worth the price of admission. Yeah, Headsplitter is nice, but Disembowel is a joy and a delight to unleash on people.
"Androktasia, what are you doing to those poor Rikti?"
*disembowel* "Nothing! Just working on my golf swing!"
I'd like to strangle whoever said Claws/DA is a fun combo. I mean, it IS, but *gods* I can't wait for stamina on Musume-chan so she can be a proper roiling ball of smoky spooky death. -
I wish that the pet status powers were lockable when you drag them to a tray on your MM.
But they are NOT, no matter how I try. That gets annoying. -

Here's a couple of my layouts I use...
Sonnenblume has implemented a 5th tray due to her temp powers, Day Job accolades and various props she accumulated during her rise to 50 (made it about a week ago).
Never-Moore has not needed the 5th tray just yet. He will get there though.
Generally, I use the first tray for primary attacks, second for secondaries (if the character is mostly ranged, then ranged attacks go in the first tray and melee goes in the second. Reverse that for melee characters.
The Hammer/Slammer/Blammer temp power trio usually goes in the right side of the first tray (Aim and Build Up if applicable occupy slots 9 and 10 of tray 1.
Control powers typically occupy some of try 2, and summoning and assorted miscellaneous tools go in tray 3 (that includes stuff that gets used infrequently) Heals and buffs may also go into tray 2, and will often supplant the secondary attacks. That is, if there are not many secondary attacks anyway, those will either go up to tray 3, or go into the beginning of tray 1.
Lastly, there is the Travel Tray. All travel powers (including temp powers) go there.
These aren't real hard and fast rules though. Trays 1 through 3 will always have a lot of variation depending on AT and powers (duh).

These are almost EXACTLY how I line up my powers and trays. Only I keep the objective bar and the map shrunk on my right, and the level bar in the middle.
Oh, and I make all my trays completely transparent.
And I'll join the army of Still Click The Powers - with the exception of speedboost, I don't bind anything. I even /macro all my Kheld shift powers. -

After Hellgate London fiasco... I will NEVER pay for a lifetime sub again...

Okay, someone point me towards where I can find out about this place. I keep hearing about Hellgate, but I don't know the story. Enlighten me on this bit of MMO history. -

After playing this game for over 5 years I've got TONS of great stories. But I think one of my favourite was when we were putting together a team for the second respec. A blaster joined the team who was energy/energy/force and for the next 10 minutes while the team leader built the team he boasted how his blaster was invincible. However he said that he couldn't reverse sidekick below 50 because if he lost Temporary Invulnerability and Force of Nature he became useless and that he couldn't play his character. The team leader tried to explain that with the superior aggro control of the tank and the buffs from the controllers and defenders he would be fine. But after the trial was started and he asked why his Temp Invul and Force of Nature was greyed out he immediately quit the team. We just shook our heads and finished the trial in record ime.

oh man. That's SAD. What was he doing all the levels BEFORE the ancillaries??? -

Sometimes, you just get lucky and a name opens up which you really want.
Like my new grav/rad 'troller: Ma Belle.

First name Michelle? -
Does Freedom do a 'name thread' like Virtue does on their section of the boards? That is probably one of the coolest - and useful! - forum efforts I've seen on the subject of names.
Picked up quite a few names that way, and got ideas for others as a result. -

One of my friends ran DA, and I would *always* be all about following the scrapper...and wind up dead when I went "Oh crap he's stealthed."
Thought I'd finally learned my lesson...until another friend rolled a stalker. -

Cat's right. Altitis seriously draws out the time.
I've been sitting on a character that's at 49.8 for about 5 months now, and haven't gotten Accelle to 50 yet because my most recent characters are so fascinating. -
Hmm. My empath was RP-heavy. and took about a year and a half to get to 50. She was my first.
My controller, Radi, was my original character, but I did a reroll on her. Let's say about a year.
Bennu, my second controller...about 8 months.
iMaid, my MM....let's say 6 months, all told.
Time to fifty tends to go down the longer you play - you learn the game, figure out the stuff you can do quickly and the stuff you can't.... -
My bots/dark, iMaid, isn't evil - she's a robot that wasn't built with a sense of ethics (given that she was never going to leave the house she was created in in the first place), but her experiences in the real world have changed her to the point that she'll probably Go Rogue come the next issue.
She was created by a Star Wars geek in his basement in Cinci because he needed someone to look cute and clean his house. So he built a robot and cobbled together parts of his old stormtrooper cosplay armor (repainting as needed of course) and dressed her in a sexy maid outfit he got off EBay.
Unfortunately in this house, the dustbunnies iMaid had been created to clean had been there so long they'd gained sentience. The aforementioned bunnies got into iMaid and started driving her around like a car. Thanks to living in a geek house, they'd been exposed to way too much maid anime, and had very...skewed perceptions of the world outside.
So they busted iMaid out, and headed off into the world for fun and adventure - which usually involved blowing things up/killing people - and earned money for repairs and upgrades. -

Yep, Silverglass is a keeper.

Hey Silver, I teamed with you yesterday with my Sonic/Sonic - Continuum Shift. +Def, +Res, and -Res (bad guys) is hard to top on a team.

Amen to that. I have a Son/Son waiting in the wings just as soon as Silverglass hits 22 and SOs.
Which won't be that far away - she just dinged 21. -

I'd hate to bring up my guide again, but I do mention the secondary blasts in it and my opinion of them. The only two I left out were /Sonic and /Ice because they weren't available at the time, so here's my opinion on those:
FF/Sonic: Perfect pairing, ultimate defense + ultimate offence = win!
FF/Ice: Another decent pairing, but for another reason. With Ice Blasts "controllery" aspects and FF's knockback, and FF/Ice Defender could give a Controller a run for his money with how much control he has over a mob! Give it a try if you want to control without rolling a Controller!
I'll also add that to the end of the guide. Man, I should really update that thing, but I don't have that much else to say really.
[/ QUOTE ]
heh. I was referring to your guide when I started my FF yesterday, and planned on PMing you to ask why you hadn't added ice. -
Rad/Sonic is also amazing fun both solo as well as teamed.
-
That's the basics of it, yeah. After 3 you start getting diminishing returns.
-
Enh, maybe it's automatic, built into the game, and they didn't take the holliday into account? FEH.

the player has little influence on its effectiveness. All you can do is buff shields and try to keep dispersion on everyone.

I'm sorry you disagree but in my experience it is true. The difference between a really good FF defender and a bad FF defender is very small aslong as they do the bare minimum, maintain buffs. On my FF defender I never felt I could utilize my skills. I know you get repulsion bomb and force bolt but really you can only do so much even with precise knockbacks/knockdowns.
This is why I personally would recommend a /FF controller, because the controller primary allows a good player to have a much bigger impact on a team setting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, what do you mean by bigger impact? I'd say providing high amounts of defense is providing a very large impact - giving the rest of your team the ability to smack down mobs and not worry about damage all that much. And it gets noticed when you're not there.
I started my first FF defender yesterday. She's now 18. I used to have that opinion before I rolled her, and nearly made her a controller...then I decided to try FF/Ice.
My fellow squishies loved me because forcebolt/Freeze Ray kept mobs out of their faces, and the damage dealers liked Ice's overall slows (much love to frozen breath right before the scrapper unleashed an AoE). And of course, everyone was getting hurt less. I was having a heck of a lot of fun doing what I did - keep everyone buffed and then go smack some mobs. I was *busy!*
Of course YMMV, seriously. It's all a question of what type of activity makes you more happy. Controlling and having FF as a secondary may be more your thing. I have a whole slew of controllers myself so I understand - you hold a mob, everyone sees what you're doing... but it doesn't mean the defender version isn't just as valid. It's just a different way of team contribution and not necessarily quite as visible or lauded.
I did get a frisson of glee when the first pug I got on went "BUBBLES! YAYYYYY!"

The Fifth Column Oroborous 'TF'.
Last room. Fighting off ALL of those Ambushes while fighting Maestro, Requiem, -and- Vandal on their little platform. 1 SR scrapper, 2 Regens. We survived by the skin of our teeth through the Triple AV Aggro, then spent a good 4 minutes fighting back against all the ambush waves. Both Regens died at least three times before we all went down.
AWESOME fight. =-3

THIS in spades.
I duoed that with my husband. He tanked, I scrapped. Swear to god our eyes lit up when we saw that room full of eeeps. The waves were glorious. -
I remember one time going on the respec...we were trying to figure out when the blasted thing would end. We thought we'd missed a spawn - and yep, it ended up being a porter who'd blinked out and ran all the way back down the hall to the operations room.

MISSION COMPLETE.

This very issue is why I include the $level switch with all my channel keybinds.

Ahh OK. The name was Scalphunter (yes I liked the original Marauders) > Figured as the build was nothing like the Marvel character there wouldn't be an issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's one over at DC too, unfortunately, but he's not *that* well known; likely it was the Marvel version that someone tagged over. -
Grav/Storm is not for you? Sad that, because my Grav/Storm just hit 33 and he's the most fun ever. Singy and storm powers leave spawns going WTH as we wormhole them into corners, hurricane to keep them there, then dump freezing rain, a stone gargoyle, and god what else on them.
I will admit that it *is* a hard row to hoe to get there, though, the levels just don't seem to come fast enough solo. It takes a lot of patience.
Grav/Rad is probably your better choice, the debuffs are awesome and greatly appreciated very early one in the game as well as afterwards
