Yeah, I'm impressed. Since I'm making a human-form warshade now, it's nice to see where I can potentially go with it. And adding extra danger to increase damage output is still soloing the AV. It's not like they summoned a shivan, warwolf, and other temp power pets to help. They did it all with a single damage source.

Well, Mid's Hero Builder can definitely help you out a bit. It's a third-party program that lets you build a character from the ground up, and then lets you put in the slots and enhancements that you want, so that you can "see" how your character can be.
The great part about it is that you can try out different enhancement combinations to try to get to your end goal without actually spending the influence. Then you can take your final build and try to get to that in-game.
It seems like it would lead to less frustration for you, because then you'd know exactly what sets you'd want, and what you'd need to get there. -
Not even CLOSE to enough information to go off of, here. What kind of Blaster are you talking about? Are you looking at AoE or single-target damage? Are you allowing the Warshade to go into other forms to help boost his damage? How much recharge are we talking about?
Blaster versus Squid is a meaningless comparison without these facts. -
My namesake Ice/Ice Tank against DE before they stopped dropping multiple Quartz pets at once. Man, they tore me up in TFs and other group play back then.

Quote:Yeah, there tends to be some confusion there. When people speak about the damage caps, they either refer to the total bonus that you can increase above base (for Scrappers, it's +400%) or the total including the base (so 500% damage for a Scrapper). Then these two get confused when people repeat them, so you can have some people saying that the damage cap for Scrappers is 400%, or that they can have +500% damage, both of which are incorrect, but both coming from the same numbers.Hold on. I think even beyond the 400-500% thing his math is off. 100% enhancement does not mean 100 damage, it means 200 damage. 200% would mean 300 damage. 300% would mean 400 damage, etc.
So 400% = 400 damage is not correct.
So it is confusing sometimes, and I understand where it comes from.
In this case, 100% damage would be 100 damage. 200% damage = +100% damage = 200 damage, and so on. It's just that people don't always understand the very subtle difference between X% damage and +X% damage when talking about the caps. -
-
Nope, the cap includes enhancement bonuses. So if you've got a power that does 100 base damage, then increasing it with 95% enhancement (making it 195 damage) means that global bonuses can only increase it another 305 damage, not 400.

Or maybe the clockwork aren't really AI, but Kheldians forced into mechanical bodies somehow. Boy, I bet that would make you rethink destroying them.

You can get access to HEATs and VEATs with your first Praetorian character. I think it's just based on the AT, not the alignment you go to, though. For instance, a level 20 character that goes to the Rogue Islands will unlock the HEATs, not the VEATs. Also, I think that you need to level up in a non-Praetorian area in order to unlock them. So you'd need to level to 21 if you started in Praetoria, versus 20 for starting in CoH/V.

Also, coming to a world that has been absolutely DEVASTATED by the Hamidon probably isn't in a species' best interests.
Sure, Primal Earth had the war against the Rikti, but most of the world wasn't destroyed in that clash. Praetorian Earth only has a few cities left, with whole continents pretty much lost to the Hamidon. Would YOU want to go there as a cosmic refuge? -
Really? The recent Earth/ Dom mentioned above was able to color the crystals a lot. I was able to simulate rubies, emeralds, sapphires, amethyst, onyx, and amber quite well.
-
While I do think that some people will use yellow snow for less than mature purposes, I still think that we should get it as a color choice, along with many other color choices.
I was making an Earth/Ice Dominator the other day, with a backstory that she was made out of living crystal. While I could color all of the Earth effects (or most of them) as different colored gems, I could only make the ice ones blue, green, or white, really. Red, Black, Amber, and other colors would have helped me out a lot. -
Well, the soft-cap special is definitely the most common, because of all the defensive benefits it gives you.
However, I also sometimes see the "Let your offense be your defense" strategy. Where you try to maximize recharge and endurance recovery, then utilize the mitigation aspects of your secondary to help keep you alive. I'd say this is most prevalent on control-heavy secondaries, like /Ice and /Stone. -
Agreed with the others. Dark/EM is a decent Tanker, but probably not so good for a newer player. Invuln is a good choice, as is Shields. Both have great aggro auras, and are sturdy enough on their own.
Secondaries with either of those are pretty simple: just stay away from Energy Melee, and you're fine! -
Wow, Je_Saist, the first three links have NOTHING to do with this. I didn't even check the fourth, since I'm sure it was the same. Not everyone reads every post on these forums, do you need to be so arrogant with your responses all of the time? A simple "The Devs know that we want this, but it requires more tech and effort than the base powers. They did say that they might work on it at some point, though." would be enough.
-
I would love, love, LOVE it if the Devs started fleshing out some of the lesser-used groups, like the Sky Raiders, Luddites, and others. Yes, there is a story with the Praetorians, but having a variety of enemies and stories is better than one long story. I don't know why the devs don't understand that.

You can get it changed, but you can't do it yourself. You have to PM one of the Forum Mods, and they can change it for you.
-
This sounds much more like a buff/debuff set the way you are describing it. With all of the slows, debuffs, and buffs, but no hard controls, I'd say that it would be pretty bad for Dominators and Controllers (except as a Controller secondary).
What would all nine powers be? -
It's down for a security patch, I believe. So, it'll be down as long as that takes.

First off, welcome to the game and to the forums!
While you can set your "looking for team" flag, under the search window, the best ways to find teams reliably are to join an active super group or a global channel. I would head down to your server's forums, and ask what a good global channel is to find teams.
Also, a shout out to the Mentor Project, which you can find stickied at the top of the Player Questions forum. They love to help out newer players in-game. -
Quote:Except it's not a "sometimes" effect. It happens every time you use your tier 1 attack. It's not a 50% chance, or something like that, it's a 100% chance. Attacking again resets the timer, so it never doesn't work.Bruising is a 'sometimes' effect attached to the tier 1 attack that you are forced to take in your secondary. It lasts 10 seconds past its activation, I don't know however if attacking again re-applies the effect => but it does not stack.
But, that is what team channel is for. Call out which AV you want attacked and I'm sure your team could manage from there. It would be nice however! -
It's under the "For Fun" section, down under the Archetypes and Powers section.

First off, welcome to the game!
Secondly, the place for this is probably down in the Suggestions and Ideas forum. However, you may want to take a look down there. There have been many suggestions for a Spears/Polearms powerset in the past, and you're likely to find some.
The major problem with the set is that it would use combat stances that are shared with no other power set in the game, requiring more work than other sets might be. -
Quote:You mean, sort of like IO bonuses?Memphis_Bill is absolutely right, but the original poster has a point too. Maybe there's a way to do this so that it makes sense. It's true that people who use Rifles can wear body armour to be more resistant to bullets, but lots of people can wear body armour. My Energy/Energy blaster can wear body armour, because his magic isn't providing smashing/lethal protection. And there should be a way for someone who wants to play a fire element to gain Fire resistance. But it needs to be something player controlled, so players can take the powers that fit their concept. Like choosing powers. Then I could decide if I wanted Body Armour, a Fire Shield, or maybe Frozen Armour if I want to include some sort of Mastery over Cold into my concept.
