  2. I made a KM/sd brute and rerolled as a scrapper vastly due to getting the name Overtake(he starts slow, but eventually...) I was tempted to do a journal of having it do AE missions and frankenslotting the build, but haven't officially started to do it. He's only 10, so not much to talk about. Anyway, I think of KM as a way for the developers to give a Claws/DB like set to shield since the BU type power is made more for DPS than burst. To me KM gives me more of a feel towards Claws 2.0 when Focus was so good and Claws did rather good ST damage. It still does decent ST, but Claws 3.0 to me moved more towards AoE damage. which it did rather good in as well.

  4. Locked up even after I removed all of the previously mentioned stuff.
  5. One not mentioned, Mind/kin, or Mind/*. I soloed the Striga zone arc outside of the Maestro mission(didn't feel like going through the effort) with my Mind/kin. I think I did it at +2 as well.

Kill the RockMelt, Yahoo, and Ask installs, and turn AVG off, and see what happens.
I tried out Rockmelt, wasn't impressed with it, and haven't used it since. Yahoo and Ask toolbars aren't on either Chrome, or Firefox. I think they were used for IE, but I never really used IE. I still deleted them anyway. I tend to run a lean looking browser so if I see something like a Yahoo toolbar I disable it. I went and deleted SmartShopper because I have no idea when I would have installed it unless it was there from the beginning.

If there is anything else, let me know.
  7. I can pretty do anything else online, but if I use a browser, at some point my computer completely locks up and I have to power it down and then reboot it. Any sound that is playing at the time pretty much because noise. The browser itself doesn't matter. It can happen with either Chrome, or Firefox. The amount of time to takes to lock up comes across as completely random. PC is less than a year old.

    It is Over

Here's the short version of my issue with bases. The only reason to use a base is for crafting and that is depending on what zone you are in. Period. It doesn't matter how uber sexy the base building community makes their bases look if nobody takes the time and effort to actually go into them.

The devs have done a good job of nearly eliminating the need to use a base for travel as they have made a number of ways to ease travel use for all players. You are basically looking at restricted zones as being "out of the way."

    Base raids? (laughing)

Easiest thing to do is to make the mission computer worth a damn. Missions from it should give bonus prestige. All the more so for more members of the SG being involved. Let's say you get a prestige factor of 2 for SG members, 1.5 for coalition members, and 1.0 for anybody else. You could even have a porter that goes to whatever mission you get from it. You could even make unique maps/zones for some of the missions. Now people want to go due a SG mission. Now startup SGs get help in terms of prestige.

Even if the quick and easy fix for not doing base raids would be to include the various Items of Power as buyable through prestige, at least this would give older SGs something to burn their excess prestige on. I'm just sitting here listing items that could be given to bases and just shaking my head this hasn't been done yet. "Dude, we got the Super Defensitor. It gives us all a small def bonus," or "We got the Ultra Craftinator. It helps us save 10% on crafting cost."

Fire's AoE is really FSC. BoF can be skipped. As long as you can deal with the DoT, which may lead to doing more attacks than needed, Fire is really good.

    Wrong

I have a Dark/stone. Please stop spreading your miss information about how bad Dark is.

Given that the mez toggles do not stack from the same caster (thanks for that), surely a 2 mag mez would be too low to actually mez mobs into being unable to damage you? Or is mob mez resistance/protection a lot lower than I'd presumed?

She also had no endurance issues, but given that she was a scrapper with the body mastery APP that's unsurprising.
You are taking a bird's eye view of the situation. What kind of accolades did they have? What kind of IOs? What kind of support? Did they have an alpha slot?

A level 2 mag only covers minions.
  11. I really don't get the hype about Claws damage being so resisted it's not worth rolling.
  12. Within thew list I could toss out there I'll go with one scrapper and one tank even if they use the same power set.

KM/sd scrapper due to that being the best offensive version of the combo. Scrappers get the biggest benefit from +dmg and that build has it from the primary and secondary. What does KM lack? AoE. /sd helps with that. They both stack -dmg as well.

SD/ice. I like it partly because it's not one of the obvious picks, but to me it works on paper. /ice gets decent AoE damage and SD will boost it. SD can be not as strong as some of the other sets leveling up, but benefits greatly with IOs. /ice adds mitigation for SD to make the ride smoother.

From a soloing stand point alone.

Psy, never really tried it, but it has enough ST attacks and AoE to make it work. When the damage does get resisted, it will get resisted at rather high levels so you will kind of have to watch what you fight.

Rad, two lower attacks that fall into the realm of pew pew pew. The AoEs are nice, but for soloing that's not as useful. You don't get your big hitting ST attack until 28.

Elec, I have covered this topic to death on various posts so I won't go into long detail here. Lacks third ST attack unless you consider the pet that you get late. For soloing, you may want to think about just slotting SC for damage and skip on the end drain. With end drain based slotting, you get like 1.5 AoE attacks.

Dark, broken record, but lacks a solid 3rd ST attack. It has one that is a blast and heal so it does neither good. You can use the snipe, but I'm not a huge fan of them. The AoEs are awesome. The added controls only aid Rad.

Sonic, I loath the sound effect on Shout and it's animation feels a little long. Outside of that, I have a level 50 Rad/sonic and that's just a really rock solid build. I soloed quite a bit on it before the defender inherit changed to help it out solo so it can definitely solo. It might be third best soloing in the 1-20 area out of the builds I have done. Even with SOs, I don't see much of an issue with a Rad/sonic soloing any EB. You are really in the realm of inspir usage at that point.

Depending on what kind of soloing you want to do, I would go Sonic and Psy for more traditional soling. If you want larger mobs at lower levels, take one of the more AoE based ones.

My highest level characters were the most fun ones. I average about 1 50 per year and and I have 40ish characters.

If a person has vet attacks, Ill/rad solos far from slow. It would only be slow 1-17 anyway. The only drawback for Ill/rad is if you need to go street sweeping for kill "x" of something.
  15. I really wouldn't take an alpha slot to improve RI. End game wise, it's rather low in terms of key powers.
  16. Ill/storm should easily be mentioned.

    Fire/fire tank.

Just throwing that out there. Man I can't imagine what it was like before inherrent fitness.
Fire/rad has AM. Mind/en gets Domination. /cold gets Heat Loss. Yes, at 38, but at least you will get some relief.

Taking 10% of the original damage is factoring in resistance not defense.
  20. From a support set angle, I prefer using /cold with the long timer shields versus being more active with the heals that a /thermal has to deal with. Cold is really just an awesome set.

Actually, an Electric/Kin controller is probably just as good at it, but you'd need to go villain to pick up Mu Mastery for Power Sink (since Electric isn't available as an APP for controllers)

I've heard that Electric/Thermal corruptors make good drainers too, but I've never played one, so I can't verify that personally.
Defenders also get Power Mastery which includes Power Build Up. It's what I use on my namesake. Controllers get Primal Forces which includes Power Boost.
  22. Truth be told outside of three specific builds I'm done rolling new characters. Only a build with SS, and or Inv could make it go to a fourth since it feels odd to play this game for so long with so many characters and never really level those sets.

Wait, you played a defender into the 40s and just started to notice how effective your primary was?
  24. As somebody who has played in the hardcore SG. My highest character was 21/22. My tank(Ice/ice) got to around 20/21. From how I did it, I would really look at a build 1-22. If I could hit 22, SO level enhancements kicked in and that's where tanks get rather good if you are just fighting on basic difficulty settings. After that it's how much do you push and how much are you going to solo? Only level 50 in the hardcore SG to my knowledge is a Dark/sr so I would think /dark with Ice, SD, and Invul would be good. Elec/dark would be interesting. It has two heals, but neither are big. I have a low 20s Dark/elec brute and some days I like it, some days I don't. I actually talked to a SG mate and talked me into keeping it saying it does get rather good in the end.
