You like tanking and scrapping, play something/Shield and you can do both. Shield Charge is a fun power to have especially the first time. 
You don't have a Shield Tanker or Shield Scrapper. You could consider Shield/Axe, Shield/War Mace, Broad Sword/Shield for classic combos.
Otherwise you might consider Shield/Kinetics, Shield/Energy, Shield/Stone.
Or Invulnerability is a lot of fun for me. You could do that with Kinetics or any of the weapons.
What about villain ATs (if we can still call them that after Praetoria)?
Brutes and Stalkers are still in the thick of melee, aren't squishy (despite what stalker detractors might claim) and play different from tanks and scrappers, to add variety. Brutes have Shields, that people are crazy about.
Dominators are fun too, like a blapper/blaster/controller combo, and with all the control in their hands, they don't feel all that squishy either (and later you can always grab a defense armor and work on that)...

Within thew list I could toss out there I'll go with one scrapper and one tank even if they use the same power set.
KM/sd scrapper due to that being the best offensive version of the combo. Scrappers get the biggest benefit from +dmg and that build has it from the primary and secondary. What does KM lack? AoE. /sd helps with that. They both stack -dmg as well.
SD/ice. I like it partly because it's not one of the obvious picks, but to me it works on paper. /ice gets decent AoE damage and SD will boost it. SD can be not as strong as some of the other sets leveling up, but benefits greatly with IOs. /ice adds mitigation for SD to make the ride smoother.
Would you ever consider an Mastermind? Bots/Storm is a ridiculously powerfull combination, if you can get used to the chaos. Alternately, a Bots/traps can handle just about anything the game can throw at it.
Other that that, maybe I should ask you if you prefer to solo, or team. Do you like to see a cloud of oranges numbers after you light off an AOE, or rather put some serious hurt on a hard target? Do you want something that will run +3/8 reliably, or happy to run at +0/1?
I have the opposite problem. Altitis can be a problem, too many interesting combinations that can do whatever it is you want to do... Maybe you want a jack of all trades... In such a case, perhaps an ill/rad would serve you well... Between illusions PA, and rads debuffs, you are actually quite sturdy... Either way, if you give me a better idea of your playstyle, I might be able to pin something suitable down for you.
Also, pretty sure I have mentioned it before, but love your SG name.
I recently discovered the joy of VEATS. Got my widow to 50 and loved every minute of the ride up the level ladder. She's scrappy, and with double assault and widow leadership powers, she has great self and team buffs along with perma Mind Link, Stealth, Placate. She can do some crazy stuff! I can speed through tips solo with the smoke grenade and stealth. Now working on a 'huntsman' bane build, and having a blast with her too.
Give veats a try. I can't believe I waited so long to try them out.

If you like scrappers and tankers, I'd suggest a brute. I'll second (or third or fourth) the suggestion for /shield defense. For primaries, Fire, dark, super strength, or mace would be my choices.
Hey all, i come to the fourms to ask for everyones help, suggestions, tips/hints, etc. I have been playing since i3, and i have 6 50s, and almost my 7th. Problem is, i barely have any alts besides my almost 7th 50. I need some help deciding on my next AT/Powersets. So i come here, maybe some of you could help me out.
First, ill let you know what my 50s are so your not suggesting things which i already have.
2 Scrappers, Kat/SR and DM/DA, 2 Trollers, Earth/Cold and FireKin, 2 Tankers, Fire/SS and Ice/Ele. Then my current project, Level 39 DP/Mental Blaster.
My playstyle is pretty much, tank and scraping, i love them both, im not a huge fan on being squishy. I Cannot play the same powerset twice, depending on what it is actually. So hopefuly that helps, and thank you in advance and any help would be awesome.
