No access to globals, or channels. I have already seen multiple Incarnate level characters with purple names, ie "Help Me" and I see no way to change the flag.

Yep, I already miss the old ones. Something I would LOVE to see is the really old origin graphics they use to have as part of the character screen that went bye bye as part of CoV.

Quote:I haven't leveled a brute 1-20 since any of the changes so I wouldn't know. When I did solo my Stone/wp there just seemed to be waiting periods for it to come together. I honestly can't imagine how one solos a character to 20 in an afternoon. It took me about 6 hours on teams to get a guy to 20 and there really was hardly any downtime.I find it the complete opposite. All your attacks are slotted with two damage SOs 21 levels early as soon as you throw two punches. Once you get going, especially with inherent stamina, you can get to the 140% bonus damage of 70% fury. That's four damage SOs slotted in your powers within moments of stepping off the chopper... and the mobs aren't scaled for that at all.
Combined with something like Stone Melee and a group of three minions goes down in three hits and an auto-brawl or two.
I can level a brute to 20 solo in an afternoon without hesitation. Scrappers I pause at 6. Then at 10. Then 14. Then 18. Then 22... and THEN they're fun for me.
Quote:At least Regen has Ice Armor and Force Field to keep it company at the bottom of the barrel. Both of those sets need attention just as bad as Regen. Ice Armor has the worst mitigation out of all the Tanker sets, and the gap gets worse when comparing IO set builds. -
Yep, any /storm gets an instead nod for Cardiac and I just focus on other stuff and mostly recharge in terms of IOs.

Level 24 dual IOs can be frankenslotted to be just above +3 SO level. I would mostly do it for attacks since you are looking for more aspects to slot, but a number of my new guys are doing this. You can also get 3 set bonuses from two sets if you 6 slot a power. Not bad for doing something on the cheap.

Ugh. I guess I can get the next wave of some of my guys leveled, but repeats like that really don't help me much.

Brutes are awesome once they get going and can remain going. I find playing one 1-20 one of the more unfun ATs to do so. I have a love/hate relationship with fury. Scrappers are pure unadulterated "Go." I have a number of scrappers, but I'll only ever have a small number of brutes.

CC is absolutely skippable on a Rad/sonic due to the more ranged nature of the build. Maybe the best known Rad/sonic player took it and defended the decision, but there really is no need for it. Like you said, if there is something there to stack with it, see Fire, Ice, and Elec controllers, then it becomes much more useful.
Aim is mostly about +tohit and that tends to be easy to get elsewhere. Defenders don't gain as much from +dmg as other sets. If you do want +dmg, go Dark epic. I haven't done my build for i19, but I might fit Aim in. Aim + Soul Drain with stacked -res just seems rather nice. -
The goal is a season for each book and there's 7 books in all when they are finally written.

I use them less and less. If I move all of my characters to Steel I could basically not need one. In Steel I have the market and the university to craft. The rail system is close by as well. About the only reason I leave somebody in Atlas is...to be close by to pay rent. Bases are good for easy access to hazard zones so I'll pay rent if I'm doing a TF and that's about going to be it. I hardly use vaults at all. I use bins a very small amount, but I could change to where they aren't needed.

Dark/shield is the answer. If you are set on redside ATs, go brute. A scrapper gets bigger benefit from the combo in vast part because scrappers benefit more from +dmg. You can soft cap both easy enough so there isn't much benefit from brutes being more sturdier. You can also make a scrapper and just take them redside post level 20 if you prefer that as well.

4 slotting Hasten is overkill. 3 is all that's needed. Screech's damage is horrible, so you are basically slotting it for bonuses versus what will actually help the power. I see zero need for Phase Shift unless you are building for PvP. You could take Vengeance instead and 3 slot for def. Assault does good with one slot, so 2 slotting Tactics would at least get you something more out of it. CC is rather light on end slotting since 3 slotting for end is fairly standard base. I would look at subbing in Siren's Song. You can get a cheap purple set in there if nothing else.

Just about all of my staple level 50s that I sell via stacks bottomed out recently. Some came back at their normal price, but I couldn't sell them for the life of me. I even tried pulling one and reselling it lower only to see it sit despite it still selling at it's old price. I basically caved and resold everything. Oddly enough a lot of them sold at the standard price, but I was listing them at half of what I usually did. Eventually those prices dropped as well. You can make a profit from them, but not like I was use to. I changed the recipes that I targeted and business is back to normal if not better.

Quote:And then you get on a team where you can get buffed. The sets basically have the same defensive and resistance values, so the resistance cap is irrelevant in most cases. Only Stone Armor can hit the resist cap for Brutes on S/L. Even Invulnerability is hard to get over 75% S/L resist. Electric and Fire can get to 90% resistance, but only on their sets' specific reistance.

My namesake has SJ and SS. Siphon Speed isn't SS. IR can need to be cast again before I actually get to where I'm going. Yes, it's a character I made way back in the day and thus if I had to do it all over again I would likely do it differently, but for some reason it feels like second nature on that build.
If somebody requires you to have a travel power, then they are an idiot. Period. -
As somebody who started a base when they first came out, rent is just annoying at this point. Yes, it's so cheap compared to when it first started(shudders), but the simple fact that I have to go pay a whole 300 prestige for a base is just a badly implemented idea. Fun fact, there's virtually no reason to use a base outside of ease of use getting to hazard zones via beacons. I have taken breaks that lasted for months only to see the base rent left unpaid while I was gone. What this tells me is that bases are generally not needed. Great idea, horrible execution, ignored for way too long, and now what little features it does do have been streamlined elsewhere to where the base's version of it is hardly used. Ever.

All of my level 50s are IOed out with level 35 common IOs. I have one very lightly IOed level 42 Ill/rad and that's basically it. Eventually I'll get around to updating some builds with sets, but it takes time to plan a build and time to acquire the funds of the build depending on how crazy I want to go with it. I would rather just go play a character.

A scrapper should win this one in terms of DPS unless I'm really missing something. The brute will be sturdier though.

1. There was no question so it's a misplaced rant about server downtime.
2. If you don't like server downtime, I hear that one big named game has far more downtime than we do and CoH is actually rather low in terms of server downtime.
