Yeah, as I posted in the patch discussion thread, Martial Arts Shuriken is actually it's strongest attack. A shuriken should not be doing more damage than all melee attacks on a melee-centric mob, especially moreso than their tier 9, three second animating, slow-motion kick to the head move ( I forgot the name... ).
Being able to choose which ranged attack would also be nice.

Considering most "adjustments" in this game seem to be done with a barrage of sledgehammers when the fine tuning of a single screwdriver would actually make sense, is anyone surprised by any of this? I mean, seriously, did you think they wouldn't go total overkill on some of this stuff?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. Sure did. Saw it a mile away.
Just get used to expecting "nerfs" to be almost as game-breaking as the supposed "exploit" they're trying to solve.

Word has it that when CoH was in development, that's one of the power sets they actually were working on, and it became what is now the Energy set. I could be dead wrong, but that's what I heard through the grape vine...

Its always so silly to me to hear the hate some people have for certain AT's and the very likely hood that Epic AT's are gimp is hilarious.
But let assume that you worked your Epic AT open with a character that you built from the ground up, with no PL'ing whatsoever. Then lets feed into the notion that Epic AT's are gimp or whatever, and without the help of PL'ing you manage to get this weak Epic AT to lvl 50.
Hmmm I suppose some could say "oh you were just riding the coat tails of the rest of those in your team or that of your SG", but the fact that most people that play this game actually like playing this game... probably level their characters for the love and fun of the game play. If you have done all that with a regular character and managed to do that with a weak Epic toon, Sheesh! you must be one Kick @$$ player Dude!!!
If I truly felt that PB's and WS's were terrible AT's and just horrid; then walked into a room and saw a lvl 50 PB or WS... I should just fall down to the ground and kick in my worshipping emote. and say "Wow, how did this guy get such a terrible AT to level 50; he must be a god. I must have him on my team or beg to be on his team" lol

2. The fact that khelds have a chance to spawn Quantums/Crystals. I've been rejected from many taskforces and farms because the people were afraid I'd spawn a crystal and we'd all wipe. Heaven forbid something in this game gives a challenge...
Of the three I find that number 2 is the reason I get more than any others. It seems common for people to see a kheldian as more of a hindrance than a help sometimes.

This QFT.
I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of times I've been kicked from teams, people quit my teams, and made snide comments about "omg, now we're going to have a cyst in the mish," just because of my AT.
I just laugh at it now.

Stop complaining on the boards because PvP is dead, or dying or anything else. Because if the way I was treated in PvP is any indication to how others are treated, then I must say, you have only done it to yourselves.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
If people are really that concerned with the population of PvP, then perhaps you should try not ganking on the new guys so much, and give them a bit of breathing room. I also noticed the people who are normally there, were virtually left alone. That to me is not how you get others interested in PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would tend to agree with you. Not only are many of the PvP'rs only out to "school the noobs", they are very insulting when you don't let them school you.
I can tell the difference between when I have a chance in a fight and when it's time to make a break for it. I really don't need to be insulted when I know if I stay I'm just going to fall in combat. It's annoying. I put a lot of PvP'rs on /gignore due to the ignorant taunting. They can go call names in the school yard if they want. I'm not playing a game to deal with bullies.
Unfortunately, that's all some PvP'r are; they are just bullies and that's it. I'm not saying that's all of them, but I have run into some of them that are.
To me, the complaints about DR, etc. pretty much come down to, we aren't uber powerful any more; aka they aren't 100% guaranteed that they will be able to school a noob.
Yes. No one wants to loose all the time. If you are fighting an uphill battle that you know you can't win without having maxed out IO sets, the hill is a pretty mighty one to climb for a new PvPr.
So yeah, lighten up in the PvP zones until they get more populated and then have some good fights. Camping on the doorstep, et al. ganker-esque tactics should be not be used. There is plenty of room in zones to PvP. Play the zone and don't abuse it.
We all might find that there is more going on in PvP zones and that they start becoming a lot more fun.
EDIT ::
I read some of the garbage replies on this thread.
What you don't understand is "the point".
It has nothing to do with "letting someone else win".
It is about an enjoyable experience for everyone.
When you can easily defeat someone, leave them alone unless they attack you. The only point in defeating them repeatedly is bullying.
If name calling, etc. is okay in PvP, then, yeah, screw PvP. That will turn people off immediately. It isn't about having a thin skin, it's a matter of you are trying to do something that you are new at and you are being verbally abused. That's not cool. You are not cool for doing it. You are being a jerk for doing it. And, as I said, you're just going to get /gignored by me, so what good is it doing you as a PvP'r to be /gingored?
If you can't understand why what was posted was posted by the OP, then I sort of feel sorry for you....the part of me that doesn't just want to /gignore you and make you a non-entity (aka pretty much "killing you" in this PvP arena in my world view.)
[/ QUOTE ]
That is the smartest thing I have seen a PvP person say on these forums. It is 100% true, and why I dont go in the zones much at all. If I dont want to deal with punk jackasses I dont go where they are. Simple as that.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT.
That's the reason I stay out of the PvP zones, unless I'm there for a badge. Not to say I couldn't handle myself--I just prefer to avoid people with sorry-[censored], immature, child-like, just-hit-puberty type of behavior. Just generally not my cup of tea...
On a related note, the OP reminded me of a recent story where I took my MA/SR scrapper into RV for some badge grinding... I was busy minding my own business pounding away at one of those turret-thingies, and WHAM! A stalker hits me from behind... I sighed, hit a small green insp, turned around and took him down in 3 shots. Then, I turned around and kept pounding away. He actually hit a rez and started dizzily backing away from me as if I wouldn't notice--haha! However, acting like a true "hero", I let him run off, and continued my primary objective for being in the zone. about 2 minutes later, BAM! There he is again for the "rematch." *sigh* Hit [Elude], typed "Dude, I'm just tryin' to get a badge", and kept pounding away at one of the turrets... But he was like a mosquito! So, I eventually turned around and pounded him into the ground again. This went on about 4 or 5 times, before he sent me a tell saying "Ok, I'll leave you alone."
"'Bout time", I thought.
Some people just don't give up--So, I completely understand your "gank" situation, ESPECIALLY on a toon that can't take the pounding... God help you if you're there as a badger.

Isn't there an unofficial RP server? Perhaps that one can be for those types and Freedom for people who just play the game as a fun game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but since MA came out, the RP'ers seem to think that they should take over every server...
"The One" -
I can guarantee that most people designing missions don't have a complete "numbers" knowledge of every AT in the game. They just want to tell a story, and a lot of times, they create enemies with powers that "logically fit" their story. If you creat a story, you're not going to please everyone. And... There isn't enough room in the description section to list off what ATs "can't" play a certain mission, without taking away the ACTUAL description of the story itself, and writing something that might peak someone's interest.
Don't get me wrong... I get where you're coming from... I played an arc back when MA first came out (like the 2nd day) with my WS, and I thought it was amazing... All the fights were epic, and I had fun running through it. So, I decided to play the story again about a week later, and the creator had changed all the enemies in it to ones that wound up 8 and 9-stacking stun on me, therefore ruining my "fun" experience with that mission. I didn't start broadcasting to everyone that this particular arc "now sucks"... I sent a message to the creator with some "constructive criticism." He doesn't have to change it if he doesn't want to, and he shouldn't feel that he "has" to... But, sending a message to the creator might be a better solution for both you and the creator--possibly for the betterment of the mission later on.
Just getting pissed off and complaining to everyone else without actually notifying the creator isn't exactly above-board, if you know what I mean. I'm sure the creator would have appreciated that.

Leandro, you're awesome.
Have you turned in an app to Paragon City Studios yet? :P

I would completely agree with your suggestion, ArcticFahx. I prefer to play on my human-only forms on all 3 of my Khelds, so anything added to shields would be great.
However, if they just dropped some of the animation change time for the form changes, I might go back to my tri-form builds again and play on them regularly... I think the Magic Booster pack "cast" costume change animation is a GREAT example of how quickly a form change could be accomplished without looking silly, and it would certainly help in combat to be able to change that quickly. As it stands, I prefer to stay in just one of the forms... If the team wants me to play in nova form, I'll switch to that build, but I won't do much form changing out of it, because I hate the time it takes to go back and forth. Granted, I'm an "ADD-type" who hates waiting for anything, but mid-battle, it would help a lot to have a bit quicker change.

Whatever happened to CuppaJo? I realize his original post said he was going to be the thread moderator for Tabula Rasa, but.... That game is now permanently shut down, so....
Anyone know where Cuppa disappeared to? Came back here? Went to a different company? No one knows?
Sorry, just curious....

OK...So if they have to remove this due to performance, fine...What about the real bug with casting Magic Fortune and players not getting a buff? I've been seeing this all weekend and it's a bit annoying for something I paid money for x2 (dual boxer with 2 accounts).
Please look into this DEVs.
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you positive that the players you've been trying to buff don't already have some form of fortune-buff on them? It can occasionally be hard to spot those icons (I really wish they were all a uniform and distinct color).
If there is any fortune buff on a character, no other fortune buff will work until the prior one runs out (20min). Note also, that casting a fortune on someone will not refresh their buff if it's about to run out. You have to wait for the buff to expire before you can recast it with any effect (other than the card-throwing animation).
I've been on fortune cross-buffing teams (stop snickering!) quite a bit since the pack launched, and never had there not be a buff effect (though several times people thought they didn't get one, because they had a hard time spotting the buff icon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, he's right on the money.... I personally wasn't having a problem getting buffs, but I had a friend of mine who was playing CoX on a computer in the same room as me (so I could visually confirm this) that when I tried giving him a buff, he would click "accept", and nothing would happen. No system message saying "you got ____", no "you got a temporary power" message center screen, no buff icon appearing anywhere, nothing. I had another friend try his on him, and he accepted---still nothing.
I'm not sure if this is an account-related issue, or what the deal is, but there most certainly are people experiencing this bug of not getting the buff even if they click "accept." Very, very strange.

Yes. You can type /bind *KEY* "cc_e *NUMBER OF COSTUME* cc*NAME OF COSTUME CHANGE EMOTE*" to accomplish this.
For example, I bound my first costume to my 0 numberpad key with the "Lightning" costume change emote, so my bind went like this:
/bind numpad0 "cc_e 0 cclightning"
P.S.
Bear in mind that costumes are numbered 0,1,2,3,4--NOT 1,2,3,4,5....
"The One" -
I would just like to say that this booster pack is AMAZING! My fav part is the much, much, much needed costume change emotes! They're AWESOME! Woohoo! In fact, I was so excited about getting the booster pack for that reason alone that I forgot that there was a "tarot card reading" feature included, until one of my friends asked me if I could "cast" it on him...
Thanks for finally implementing the costume change emote, Devs! YAY!

If you really feel you are missing out on game time, just try another server. There are plenty of options.
[/ QUOTE ]
I completely understand where you're coming from, but this doesn't take into consideration the people who have invested a significant portion of their CoX time into making toons on Freedom, leveling them up to 50, and grinding to get that "perfect build." The Freedom population isn't any less significant or important (nor is it any MORE important) than the rest of the server populations, just because their population happens to be larger than any of the other servers. So, just casually saying "just play on another server" is a bit heartless, and usually ONLY said by someone who hasn't invested any time on said server.
[ QUOTE ]
Thx for the info...any chance for a free one time server transfer off freedom?
I have like 11 gals I would move off there to ...heck anywhere else. I don't like double exp weekends because I can never get in to play...at all.
If I had known it was going to be so popular I would have made them elsewhere, but some are from when the game went live. sigh

Cool... I'll be checking it out over this weekend, and I'll be sure to give you feedback, as something like this will help me infinitely with creating some great CoX machinima.

If you can write some sort of program that would dictate what code would be needed to create a specific movement for a hero, so the code could be input into a demo file for a movie, I would donate real money. The friggin' possibilities would be huge for what you could then do in CoX Machinima.

It doesn't take very long to travel to missions. Killing all zone travel makes too many zones vacant which is not good.

If anything in question needs explaining, one only needs to refer to a certain bar scene in "Team America: World Police" for the answer...
