Hello all, I'm going to be running some Keyes Island badge runs this weekend.
I would like to make two runs each day. One at 4 pm Pacific time (6 Central, 7 Eastern, midnight GMT), the other at 6 pm Pacific time (two hours later) on both Saturday and Sunday.
Team 1: Strike team - Damage/Heal team- Me. I'll be bringing something that will help the league. If that means a Tank, Healer, or debuffer
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
Team 2: Heal team - this group will be responsible to keep people outside alive.- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
Team 3: Hospital Guard team - This group will be responsible to call out the timer warnings (obliteration beam, AM health checkpoints)- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
- .
Required:- All characters must be +3, as this is a badge run.
- You must be familiar with this trial, as this is a badge run.
- Listen to instructions, as this is a badge run.
- Be patient, we might not succeed, as this is a badge run.
Tactics:- At 3/6 terminals in the final reactor, EVERYONE will go to the hospital.
- Once people are assembled, and stocked up, teams one and two will finish up the third reactor.
- No travel powers at all during the final phase.
- The reason for this is to prevent floating beam graphics.
- The other reason is that you are actually SLOWER to move after an attack if you use a travel power.
- Use sprint as it doesn't have suppression.
- No hover in the final battle either. It is too slow and you risk spawning the beam graphics where another player cannot see it.
- During the final phase, a player on team 3 will watch the obliteration timer. They will call out 5-10 seconds before the beam is to land.
- Players in the fight need to not use long animation attacks after this warning.
- Players in the fight need to go to a clear spot to make sure that they are not in the target beam.
- When Anti-Matter reaches 80% health, time will freeze and he'll head to the North-West draw down terminals.
- This means that it is important to fight him at the North-West set of terminals.
- We can't kill the terminals because of the badge, keep control of your pets and attacks. Better yet don't have pets out at this point.
- When Anti-Matter reaches 50% health, time will freeze and he'll head to the South-East draw down terminals.
- This means that it is important to fight him at the South-East set of terminals.
- We can't kill the terminals because of the badge, keep control of your pets and attacks. Better yet don't have pets out at this point.
- When Anti-Matter reaches 20% health, time will freeze and he'll head to the South-West draw down terminals.
- This means that it is important to fight him at the South-West set of terminals.
- We can't kill the terminals because of the badge, keep control of your pets and attacks. Better yet don't have pets out at this point.
- After the South-West set of terminals, call out pets and kill Anti-Matter quickly.
Edit:
The top priority for these runs will be "Loves a Challenge" and "Avoids the Green Stuff". -
Carnada, I'm sorry that things have slowed down on Triumph. I -will- be running Keyes badge run(s) this weekend though.

Quote:I was mid-field when I crashed that run. I came back dead. Though I thought I was on the west side of the tennis courts at the time.Ok I saw you die, and figured that was from a pull attempt not a dc. Still, the folks I saw pulling Nightstar were not the tanks or brutes. This was the last BAF before your logged for a time.
As to pulling, there are a number of players with durable toons that aren't tanks or brutes. If they do something that will get themselves killed on a BAF and won't affect the league, well that is their problem. -
CoH2 would have just as many, if not more, issues with less content. It isn't going to happen.
-
Quote:While I agree, I'd still like the "extra" yearly Paragon Reward Token...To be honest, I'd be pretty satisfied with those badges just going away. It's the same problem as the old Veteran Badges -- a theoretically infinite series of badges, which means unless you've been subbed since Day 1 you'll always be behind. Imagine if the damage/mez/influence/etc Achievement badges worked like this. Oh, so you finally earned 1 billion influence? Congrats! Now try for 2 billion. Done with that one? Give 5 billion a shot. How about 10 billion after that? 20? 50?
-
Quote:Nope, I wasn't even present during the Nightstar phase that run as I crashed (typical 4 trial memory leak crash) during the first phase. I didn't make it back until the middle of the prisoners phase.Ran a BAF today with a bunch of people I don't know and it worked out well. Was a little rougher than I'm used to on Pinnacle and Virtue, but a success nonetheless.
From my POV, the issue I saw with the 3 teams was too much buff and blast, and not enough beef. Three teams with just 5 melees. The squishies were pulling the AVs for Pete's sake. Was standing there on my kin/rad def and wondering when the tank was going to go get Nightstar and/or Siege. They didn't. I think it was Snowglobe's blaster that went after Nightstar and got plastered.
I'll also point out that I'm pretty sure that there was a brute on the league.
The point you don't seem to realize is that on a smaller server like Triumph, WE CAN'T BE PICKY. As a trial leader, I can't CHOOSE what people bring. I can (and do) adapt strategies depending on team make-up. Do I always succeed? No. However there was a tank and a brute if I recall. If a blaster tried pulling then they did so on their own.Quote:That's no good. Need some balls-to-the-walls sack of HP to fetch the AVs next time. Unfortunately all my Triumph 50s are defenders and corruptors or I'd bring my own beef. Is this typical of Tri iTrials?
We don't get the luxury of pre-tailoring leagues. If we did, forming trials would take even longer than they normally do (up to 40 minutes for a regular Lambda).
No, you were on the first BAF I did last night not the one that DarkCurrent is talking about.Quote:I was on that baf i think
If its the one where my ice/cold corruptor Mr Damz was on anyway
Edit: Though from what i saw, that baf i was on had almost no deaths i think and no prisoners escaped too so was a very smooth run imo

Yes, as proven with the MoM trial, and with the Lambda after. -
It is slot-1. The count starts at zero, not 1.

I'd really recommend reading the following guide:
Premium Accounts and Paragon Rewards
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=271724
Your options at this point though:
You can subscribe or you can buy 30-day invention licenses.
The lifetime invention license is around the $375 mark (then again, that gives you most of the Paragon Rewards as well).
I'll also point out that with 4 months of subscription you get enough Paragon Points to get 8 months of Invention licenses. -
Patron pools and Ancillary pools are mutually exclusive in a single build. However, you can have multiple builds. For instance build 1 can use Ghost Widow's pool and build 2 can use Power Mastery.
-
Are you on premium (free) accounts or are you on VIP (monthly fee) accounts?
If you are on a premium account, what paragon reward level are you? -

Quote:One group wouldn't be: The developers.I'd be perfectly happy with CoH 1 being abandoned for a good CoH 2. I suspect a LOT of ex-players or just curious gamers would be, as well.
As to the rest of your points, I'll simply quote Arcanaville from May of last year:
Translation: your CoH2 would be available sometime after 2020.Quote:The lesson every launch after City of Heroes has taught me is that new games rarely exceed expectations, new technology doesn't guarantee customers, and launching thin means crippling the game out of the gate. The "launching thin" part is the most important lession. If Paragon Studios wants to launch a CoH2, it has to launch with at least half the content of CoH1 in total which is several times more content than CoH1 had at launch. CO proved that the second time is not the charm, and DCUO proved that no amount of resources and brand recognition exempts you from the thin content rule.
So unless Paragon Studios has a hidden army of content writers banging out content for CoH2 so that it can launch with about ten times the content that DCUO launched with, it will be an immediate failure. There is simply no way PS can launch anything next year with enough content to not be a complete waste of time, even if they had started on CoH2 back in 2007. The content writing team simply doesn't exist that I can see, unless NCSoft hired them in secret without advertising.
Translation: It is more likely that Paragon Studios will continue to work on THIS game, than create a completely new Superhero game. There is pretty much zero possibility that Paragon Studios would make CoH 2 at this point. They are investing in upgrading THIS game.Quote:Never. If the new game could accommodate our existing characters, its technology would just be given to us, period. No one - NO ONE - decides to spend a huge amount of money and resources to make a new game that is not a new game. If the new game isn't different, it won't be made. Even if Positron lost his mind completely and decided to test this theory, no on would give him the resources to do it.
This is something MMO players want and MMO designers don't want. As long as that is true, its something MMO players won't get. Basically, the people that want to make this game but better work on this game, not the new game. The people who want to make something totally different work on the new game, not this game.
The opportunity to launch an MMO as a lead designer or even as the core design team is very rare. Its often a once-in-a-lifetime event. Who would spend that lottery ticket on remaking something someone else already made?
This is completely separate from all the problems with character transfer, with rebalancing, with community issues, with playerbase splitting. There are lots of technical reasons for not doing this. But even if you solve them all, the one you cannot solve is that no real game designer worth anything, when you ask them "how would you do it if you could do it" says "like that, only a little different." Someone who says that in the interview doesn't get the job as lead designer of the new MMO.
There is also the fact that two other super hero MMOs have launched, and despite one having a huge amount of development resources, both are considered inferior to CoH. -
Quote:Actually, after using the 4 save commands, any new toon will have those loaded by default. However pre-existing toons can be updated to the same configuration with those commands. Thanks for some good info Zombie...
I've not heard of those other /commands so to confirm I'm thinking in the right direction - if I get a toon set up with everything the way I want it and then do /wdwsave /chatsave /bindsave and /optionsave then every subsequent toon I make only needs me to repeat with the relevant /xyzload to get them all configured the way I like? -

Quote:It took NCsoft buying CoH and "merging" CoH and CoV to allow everyone access to bases. No, someone with only CoH could not enter an SG base. This was rather unfair as he/she could earn prestige towards a base but could not make use of the spoils of his/her labor, and the same limitation did not exist for those who had only CoV. This has long since ceased to be an issue, thankfully.
Thankfully that has since changed too. -
Quote:I've been too sick with the flu to look over anyone's shoulders in the last week.EDIT: Done. And YES, Snow Globe, I am aware that Decimation (1 of 6) says its normal price is 100 and it's on sale for 100. As of when I wrote this update, that's how it was listed in the store.

Okay, maybe ONE peek (seeing that I had the list before I got sick):Quote:Yeahhh... not entirely sure what's up with that. There's also what, two broadsword models attached to Cimeroran content? Also an axe, I think...?
Y U no add them to the bundle, Paragon Studios? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Given the problem of tracking 10+ different entities, Null the Gull was given the ability to tell a player what Praetorian AVs were needed for Dimensional Warder.
The following badges could use this same method:
Vandal: Destroying 25 Hydrants, 25 Mailboxes, 25 Newspaper stands, and 25 Pay Phones in Mayhem Missions. Null could tell you how many of each you need.
Dreamwalker/Dreamkiller: Defeat all of Malaise's possible Nightmares at least once. Null could tell you which nightmares you need. -
Quote:I'll buy the bow, which had no business being included in this set (nothing in Cimerora actually unlocks it), and continue to run the ITF.Main reason: They were intentionally left out to maintain some exclusivity to the Imperious Task Force (ITF).
Players can normally obtain/unlock the Roman Costume pieces for free in-game, but this has to be done PER character by completing the ITF. The purchase of this bundle allows players to unlock many of the main costume pieces for all other characters on your account without having to do the Task Force.
Also the other Roman-themed costume parts (besides the weapons) haven't been included in a crass move to sell them separately:- Patrician Toga
- Victory Laurel
- Hellenic Sandals
The Roman costume pack should have been the following:
Price: 400 Points - Roman costume set, 33 costume parts- Centurion Half Helmet
- Roman Browguard – Helmet Detail
- Roman Crest 1 – Helmet Detail
- Roman Crest 2 – Helmet Detail
- Roman Crest 3 – Helmet Detail

===========
TL;DR
I understand you are running a business. What I can't understand is why you are constantly making the same mistakes over and over again. Please don't treat your customers like you currently are. Most of your customers are fairly intelligent and have told you the pitfalls of your pricing before. -
Quote:It was a placeholder, just like the old Veteran Rewards Badges had.I recently noticed on my level 50 badger that I since I was now an Incarnate, I had the ability to convert my "Flames of Prometheus" into a Notice of the Well. I clicked the button to do so, and I think I lost a badge in the process. I'm sure someone here knows if that's the case. (I don't know, because I hadn't thought to check my badge count before I clicked the button.)
If it did happen, I haven't decided whether it's a big deal to me or not, but I think as important as badges are to some players it's pretty dumb of them to create a mechanic that removes a badge you had already earned.
One item is the badge itself. When you clicked on the convert button, you only lost the non-counting placeholder, not the badge for the strike force. -
Those are from the Elemental Order set, soon to be in the "super packs" (think collectible card games like Magic: The Addiction... err.. Gathering) available on the market.
Expect the full set to be anywhere from $6 to $50. This is because the costume parts are random weights in the packs.
Edit:
They -may- be available in some other way eventually, but at launch is only going to be available via the "grab-bags".
Here are some pictures:

That popmenu doesn't show the individual history plaques when acquired. It is a limitation of the popmenu system. In other words, we can't check the individual plaques.
