Now just to figure out how to get higher up on it.
Each month you are a paid VIP you receive a reward token, you place the token in a free spot from the bottom of the tiers all the way up. I've been playing 6 years and only just began tier 9, but I have also done the following about 5 times....
If you spend 15 dollars (at once) on PPoints in the store you will be awarded a reward token. The only problem is Salvage drops and IO rights don't begin till somwhere in tier 7 I believe. It might be tier 6.
You can get to the tier you want for the salvage drops if you're willing to drop 405 dollars each on enough points to get enough tokens to place (that's if you need to be tier 7). Or you can become a VIP paid subscriber and get automatic rights to salvage drops and stuff, and it will also get you a token a month.
In short, the only way to get further up on the tree is to spend 15 dollars on points and get one token, or pay the monthly fee and get access automatically.

Your options at this point though:
You can subscribe or you can buy 30-day invention licenses.
The lifetime invention license is around the $375 mark (then again, that gives you most of the Paragon Rewards as well).
I'll also point out that with 4 months of subscription you get enough Paragon Points to get 8 months of Invention licenses.

Also it's not $15 equals a reward token. It's for buying 1200pts and the bonus points from buying points in bulk count towards the next reward token.

BUt even so, 5 dollars won't get them the invention, WW, or salvage drop access that they are after. I have my second account almost through tier 6, and I still don't get drops nor can I use IO's.
They're going to have to spend a few hundred in order to get to where they want without becoming a VIP and getting automatic acess.

2 dollars will get them IOs and salvage for one month. It's 160 points for the Invention license, and the license is good for 1 month. Realistically, you'll need the auction house license too, which is another 2 dollars for a month. 5 bucks per month will actually get you a decent amount if you're not interested in VIP.
The best deal is actually to go VIP, and get a long term subscription. I'm paying $11 per month right now, and that gets me everything, plus 400 bonus points to spend each month. I'm effectively paying about $6 per month for absolutely everything in the game. The difference is that you have to be prepared to plunk down $80 to $120 for the long term subscription, and not everyone wants to do that.

I have a feeling this is probably a really nooby mistake with a really nooby answer, but I've been looking around and can't find it, so I'll just post up a question here.
My friend and I have been playing CoH for a little bit now and we're both level 12 villians (I think, she might still be 11.)
We have not obtained a single piece of salvage since level 4.
So. Sup with that. Is there something in particular you have to do once you kill the enemy, or what?
