    The Accolades

Yeah, the min/maxer might. I don't. If I get them along the way, hey, great. They don't unlock new content for me, they're not required to get anything done. I've got a good size stable of alts and I don't feel like grinding.
Yep, that's about the same for me. If I manage to get everything but the History badge (for one example) just going thru the game, then I *might* take the time to tour the zones for the badges to pick up Atlas Medallion - but that's really only if I remember to check on the status of the accolade.

Maybe they should mean something more, but I'm not sure what that might be - it's not like you get an actual Medallion to hang around your neck...
  2. I'm with Wendy on this - I just don't really see a point to it.

Some have said that it lets us omit a "useless" initial power that we "never" use. I guess I really don't have any of those, in any of my 60 alts. I have some characters who use that intial secondary power rather infrequently, but I do use them all at least a bit.

I suppose it would also give someone an additional power pick at some point later in the build, but I have rarely had a character where I felt that I *needed* just one more power pick to get a power I can't fit into the build.

I guess I think that the uselessness of the initial forced secondary choice is vastly overstated and this is a solution in search of a "problem".

We might want to have this moved to the Suggestions forum, BTW, since it's a suggestion, not a general AT or Powers thread.
  3. Seems awfully complicated when there is a simple solution already in place, albeit one that OP doesn't care for - turning off XP.

Alternatively, since the game encourages the making of alts - do the "missed" content on an alt or two or three...

So I see the OP as a solution in search of a "problem".

This X 1000. I learned a lot about the other ATs by standing in the back blasting. It made them more fun for me because I had an idea what each AT was "supposed" to be doing when I rolled my first <fill in the blank>.

All in all there are HUNDREDS of combinations between the different archetypes and power sets and it may take some screwing around to find the one that you like best. I'm out of character slots on Virtue and I'm trying to decide if I want to buy more slots or start making toons on another server (I'm partial to Virtue for some reason).
This is also a good tip. I have only about 60 alt characters, there are some who have literally hundreds.

And to Radu - come visit us on Infinity, or at least try some other server - it's always good to have other options when your fave server goes down.
  5. My favorites (and highest level, which means I played them more than the others):

Energy/Electric (with Electric APP) - tons of KB, almost more than Enrg/Enrg. Great soloing (enemies flat on their backs don't hit you), nice on teams if they understand variable KB, she was especially fun an a series of TFs playing with an Elec/Elec/Elec blaster, as we drained our foes of End repeatedly. My first character and my first 50.

Fire/Ice - Fire has really big orange numbers (with those extra ticks of damage) while /Ice gives a a touch of control. Laying down an Ice Patch then backing up and laying down a Rain of Fire makes me giggle. Currently level 40ish.

Sonic/Enrg - not sure why, but she's fun and level 30ish.

    Fire/Enrg - again, I love KB. Currently approaching 30.

One blaster I have been working on for some time now is an AR/Dev. She's one of my first batch of characters, and only now has her nuke. I think she will be more fun now, but I ignored most of her secondary powerset as too gimmicky. Definitely an acquired taste and not much like my others.

I also have about a dozen blasters in the 10-20 range that I cycle thru as the mood strikes me.
  6. I like it.

It really wouldn't apply much to my private SGs, but it still seems useful for looking up other SGs.

    Base items

Actually, you didn't, really, beyond a rather nebulous "more post 50 content".

Perhaps there's also a suggestion to make more early level content (for making more alts, since you can only do the "Skulls/Hellions thing" so many times.)

You also talk about "missing your 50s", but I'm not clear why you are missing them? Did you delete them? You remade them on another server - well, good news, you can move them to that new server without remaking them until the end of January 2010.

Generally I can feel that you are bored in City of Heroes, and diecnchanted with the look of the Rogue Isles, but I don't really see anything concrete that you want in your lengthy post.

    Thanks, Cat!

That had been bothering me since I first read the OP.

OK - I haven't really kept up totally on this issue - but isn't the difficulty slider disabled for all TFs, SFs & Trials right now?

Or has it always been disabled for respecs? I thought I remembered something (perhaps an urban rumor) where you were supposed to be "careful" that the team leader of a Respec needed to have his/her difficulty set to "heroic"?

And I'm with some of the others who think the current respec is basically fine as is. And, yes, there are still "gimpy" characters who need it to be not uber difficult in order to get thru it - we (most players of City) aren't all denizens of the boards with Mids loaded up to prevent "horrendous" mistakes.
  11. Also (for future reference) -

Suggestions & Ideas forum is below, under "For Fun".

And it is a frequent suggestion, that typically garners support.

All i know is that my Fire/En, who doesn't have much in the way of sets, survives just fine. True, i only solo on basic difficulty. I'm not taking on +4/x8, and i do use a lot of inspirations, but i survive fine.

Also, playstyle wise, target and eliminate the member of the group who'll give you the most trouble first. Use some means of flight to stay out of harm's way (most long ranged attacks do less damage and have less mez effect than a melee attack). Your secondary should be used situationally, and not as your opening attacks (unless you're built for melee defense like a good Blapper).

And chain your attacks to take advantage of your defiance buffs! If you use any IO sets at all, build for recharge!
    This.

If you have been playing a blaster for a while (i.e., since before the change to HP or at least the changes to Defiance), then you should already be aware that Blasters are not all that squishy compared to where they were.

OTOH, if playing one for a while means that you have finally gotten one up above the mid-30s, then you have now run into the paradigm shift that comes with levelling up a Blaster - ungodly amounts of pure damage need to be used with at least a modicum of strategy once you start against foes with mezzes that are no longer "one shottable".

You cannot sell a storage item that has stuff in it, so take anything you put in there back out to sell the storage item.

The cap on Storage items is 18, not 19. I wish it were higher myself.

    What the???
I thought the 2x2 room could hold up to 9 storage items? To me, this means 9 storage bins of any kind...salvage, inspirs, or IO.
Of course the salvage racks are HUGE and it definately looks as though 9 of those suckers would not fit in the lil 2x2 room.

    Lost again.
    Please help.

Also...can I sell back the 2x2 room and get the 4x4 room instead, without losing the prestige I used to buy the 2x2 room?
    Do I just delete it?
Hmm - I think you mean that you bought the 1 X 2 Workshop - which is extremely limited in what it will hold.

Yes, you can sell that back to get the 2 X 2 Workshop (which I think you are calling 4 X 4, but there isn't any workshop in that configuration). You will get all the prestige you spent on the first one back. The 2 X 2 will hold 9 storage items in any combination (Insp, Enh, Vault, Salvage). To make that work, you will probably need to stack them as the items are rather large.

To stack storage items - I have found that an Enh Table (Tech) is the same height as 2 Floor Safes stacked. Place one safe on top of the other then, place the Enh Table on top of the stack of safes. Once you have the table "floated", sell back the safes and slide another table underneath it. Twice as much storage in the same floor space. Doing that you can place 9 Enh table in half of the 2 X 2 Room ( a 1 X 2 floor space). Salvage Racks can also be stacked, but I don't have that proportion memorized.

A second 2 X 2 Workshop will get you another 9 Storage - which is the max for any base.

You can also place a single storage item in an Oversight Room and/or one of the Medical Rooms (I forget which one) if you have either of those. IIRC, you will need at least the Oversight Room to hold the Combo Energy/Control Item to power your Personal Storage Vault (if you want one, not as necessary in a 2 person SG, but it accesses the same storage space as the vault reserves, so can be handy to stash your stuff before a TF).

  15. My PB, but nearly as dusty is my level-pacted scrapper.

I guess I don't have anything nearly as dusty as Dispari on my own account, but that's mainly because I make it a point to log everyone in for holiday badges, etc. While on, I usually try to do at least one mission with the character. So that makes my dustiest character ATM one logged in at halloween.

But in terms of "not played", then it's the two above. The PB is stuck at 12 - and has been for over a year now.

Now my husband's account is another story. I gave up logging all his alts in for badges, just logging in the ones he actually played back in the day. So he has at least a dozen characters that haven't gotten the last 8 or so Vet badges.

To the OP again I apologise for spacing on the fact that you said you were on the EU servers.
And I apologize to you for missing the addendum.

Sheesh, Like a Chin & Dale cartoon in this thread, LOL.

    2. This game is big on instanced missions. That means players don't spend a lot of time in the open zones unless they are socializing, leveling up, getting missions from contacts, etc.

    3. Leveling up is extremely easy during the low levels so you might find more players in higher level zones.

    4. You have started playing during the Winter event. Many players are goofing around in the Ski Chalet which is only open during this event. You can get to the chalet thru Pocket D. The closest Pocket D entrance is in Kings Row, or by using the Pocket D VIP teleport power. The VIP power comes with the Good vs Evil item pack $9.99. Once purchased all your characters will get the power.

I hope that helps and welcome to the game!

Damn sorry I totally spaced on the EU servers. My bad. Sorry.
He's on an EU account, Forbin - telling him about Freedom & Virtue on the NA servers won't help him, and if some EU posters on these boards are to be used as an example, it will actually tick him off that he can't get to them.

OP - EU servers are generally much less populated than the NA ones, but there is a thriving EU community out there. Slide on down to the European Lounge and/or the Union server forum below to find people who will just love to introduce you to the game!

(I can confidently predict this, because that's just how awesome our community is!)

The rest of the info Forbin presented regarding the instanced missions and the Winter Event pulling people into a single zone is great stuff to keep in mind, though.

  19. Looks like I can make it.

IDK who to bring - probably Brighid Frost (fire/ice blaster)or Agoniste (fire/rad troller),though I may bring Maurya (energy/electric/electric blaster) out to play.

  21. Good luck, Myyst.

I think your second post showed you aren't one of those obsessive gamers who are on every minute you aren't at work or sleeping. Just make sure that some of that time you aren't gaming is spent doing stuff with your new lady once you find her.

I'm a gamer girl myself, a lot of our social life and friendship circles revolves around various gaming groups - and it was the same way with my first husband. True story - all of my PnP gaming groups have a higher proportion of females to males (except the one where a whole family is playing with us, all sons, no daughters).

Finding a shared interest is great. It may as well be MMOs, and looking in your preferred MMO is certainly not a bad idea. But I also have to say that while my husband got me started here in City, he rather quickly moved on to WoW - so mixed MMO marriages can work out quite well.

P.S. Trying to ignore the whole Hoff threadjack, but GG is making it really difficult.
  22. I have only done one transfer.

I had a lonely little Electric Blaster on Justice, but I never played her enough to find a community. My original idea had been to have a couple of characters on all servers so that I would always have someone to play when we have servers down (like {rotector & Champion right now).

So I moved her over to Liberty, where I have a nice 2-person SG and an active global channel. Maybe now, she will advance past level 13!

I'm glad (in a very creeped out kinda way) that I'm not the only one distracted by the thread title. Every time I scroll thru the threads here, I misread the word "Tittles" assomething very similar in spelling but with a very different meaning.

Get out of my head, Forbin!
  24. Still /unsigned. Massively /unsigned.

Search for the bazillion threads about why people in this game do not want "open world PvP" (that's the most common phrase and try limiting your search to this forum).

    1. A large portion of the players in this game don't want to PvP EVER.

    2. The PvP-interested population fo this game is already pretty thin - and that's when it is limited to the 4 existing zones. You want to spread it even thinner across 32 (?)more zones?

Isn;t there a **** 'n paste about thisfloating around somewhere? I don't have one saved for "why Open World PvP should not be implemented".
