Why not allow heroes & villains to trade inspirations?

I'm sure this has likely been suggested before, but I can't find a thread or a 'suggestions' or ideas forum to post this in. I wondered, why can't heroes and villains trade inspirations? I realise that trading between 'enemies' is prevented...after all trading currency, recipes, enhancements or salvage could have a major effect on the economies.

But inspirations have very little value. And while on a TF or mission in one of th co-op zones, not being able to trade with on member of the team but being able to with another is just plain frustrating and unnecessary. After all, I could ressurect them if I had the power to, why can't I give my hero friend an inspiration?

I think it would be a great ability to be able to do just this. To balance it and prevent it from being abused, what about:

- Heroes and villains can only trade inspirations in co-op zones, and:
- can only trade while on a mission map while in a team OR on a TF,
- can only trade inspirations and nothing else.

Optional:

- Can only trade small inspirations
- Can only trade awakens
- Can only trade awakens if other character has fallen

This would prevent the system from being abused and should have practically zero effect on the economies....10 extra enrages entering the market isn't exactly an exploit. Why can't this be implemented? While I'm teamed with a stinking, no good, dirty hero in a coop zone it's because I've decided I can tolerate them on the team so why can't I give my hero friends a wakie like I can my villainous brothers in arms?

And while I'm wishing...please can there be an inspiration vendor in RWZ somewhere. Borea or Levantera, someone, anyone. Not being able to buy inspirations during the LGTF can be a pain in the butt if it's the not the best team.

Borea, Levantrea, Serpent Drummer, etc all sell inspirations in the Vanguard base as long as you have done their quests.

It might be a bit of a jog, but you can always run to the AE building and grab some from the Vendor there in the middle of the LGTF as well.

I agree that the no trade/gift rule for inspirations should be relaxed. Of course, with Going Rogue on the Horizon, I suspect it will be coming to an end.

The reason Inspirations were originally set up as untradeable between factions was that trading was set up as all or nothing, they couldn't flag only certain items as tradeable. however, if you listen to the Hero-con pod casts, while discussing how the market works in Going Rogue, Posi said Inspiration trading between factions is coming.

I didn't know those vanguard peeps sold inspirations now, it must be relatively recent or changed since RWZ first arrived. If that's the case then it's great news! The AE merchant is also a great idea, thanks.

With regards to giving inspirations to enemies, just to clarify, I don't wish to be able to out of any sense of camraderie or good will of course! Keeping a hero alive is purely self-serving as it means they can get hit instead of me, help me pursue my short-term villainous goals and means I'll have the satisfaction of killing them myself at a later time!

I wanted to clear this point up in case it could damage my reputation as a merciless, cold-hearted fugitive from justice. :-)

All contacts sell inspirations, once your reputation is high enough with them, which (as was said above) is done by completing their missions. Unfortunately, this is not an option during a TF, since all contacts are deleted from your list in TF mode, until you finish.

The AE inspiration vendor is a store, however, and will talk to you at any time.

This is a pretty flimsy excuse. What inspires one CHARACTER could be vastly different from another. NOBODY should be able to trade inspirations if this is the case. Do you think Peter Parker's desire to attone for his past mistakes would inspire Batman to keep fighting? Do you think Hulk's anger would make it easier for Cyclops to hit harder?

In fact, during Halloween we had thousands of heroes and villains being inspired by doors. And if all else fails, I can just go to a store and buy inspiration (too bad artists and inventors never had that option eh?). So I don't think we should give it much consideration.

My SWAG is that the trading code isn't set up to allow trade of certain items, it's all or nothing. Since Villains and Heroes weren't suppose to interact initially in any co-op manner (first co-op was Valentine's Event in 2006), nobody thought of the need to code that feature. That's why we have those X use temp powers that act like buffs that are cross factional.

Also, for anyone with the requisite powers, you can Use the pocket D teleporter to go to Pocket D, hit the bartenders for inspirations, then go and use the mission porter to return to the RWZ IF there is currently an active mission there.

However, that's not allowed on a co-op team without being bounced from the team (same for using Ouroboros).

Yes it is. Pocket D, RWZ, and Cim are co-op zones. As long as you hit ONLY those zones, you won't get tossed from a team.

In case it hasn't been mentioned, it was said at HeroCon that inspirations will be allowed to be traded soon. Just inspirations mind you, not recipes and salvage.

My apologies, you are of course correct (although I know of no way to hit Cimerora directly without first accessing a non-co-op zone ).

I've done it during an ITF before. Pocket D porter to the D, get your inspirations, go into the hallways so that you're out of the no-TP zone, and hit the Mission Porter to go back to Cim.

Leaving aside attempts to rationalize the issue based on in-character premises (heroes are not inspired by the same thing villains are, etc.) the trade system at present does not distinguish between different objects. A trade is a trade is a trade. So to prevent sharing inf or salable items, someone needs to write the code.

It may be a project somewhere on the schedule (esp. with GR coming up). But that is the underlying issue.

afterthought - Aha, per Gypsy's post, apparently it IS a project on the schedule with GR coming up.

Just a heads-up, the area right next to the base portal on the dance floor is now a tp-allowed zone. While standing next to the base portal, you can TP (to the other side of the base portal ) and use zone-TPers such as Mission TP and Market TP.

Ah, the Mission Teleporter. Brilliant Rod, you're right, that would do it (although not for every account). Nice solution.

I tell you how to do it and you give Rod the credit?

Yup, I like Rod better.

Sorry, I can see I misread your post the first time out and didn't see your reference to the Mission Teleporter.

yah but even still, on my corr I like to toss insps around to whatever tanker/brute is tanking/bruting. It is a PITA when I can't toss the tanker a couple of blues to keep'im goin'...and that's not even trading, but giving away....
