The threat formula uses the longest taunt remaining, so a 40-80s Taunt will always win over a 1.25-2.4s RttC. If a player is serious about tanking/threat, then they'll be using Taunt.
Taunt hits up to five at a time. RttC hits up to ten. With the aggro cap at 17, I don't see why you wouldn't want both operating efficiently. On a Tanker, with full Gauntlet going, I can understand this, but with Brutes' Gauntlet-lite only hitting the enemies they hit, I would think that having a passive AoE-threat generating power would be nice.

Will Taunt completely overshadow the threat generated by any aggro aura? Yes, but the aggro aura is going to help you hit the other enemies that you need to have aggro on.
  2. Love it! My favorite part: the fact that you describe it as "self-motivated." Such great business jargon being used in a completely absurd way.
  3. RttC is the one aggro aura I would actually say it IS worth it to slot for Taunt. RttC has an astonishingly low Taunt magnitude and duration. Slotting for Taunt is a good idea in general, not just if you want to be the main Tank sometimes.
  4. I think the major drawback for me (aside from any game limitations that may prevent it entirely) is that it would be a really horrible travel power. It would only help you travel on a single axis, and that axis doesn't generally help all that much. Sure, it would let you climb a wall and scale a building, but would that help you get to your mission any faster? Maybe if you've taken Super Speed, this would be a great additional power, but otherwise, it doesn't really give us anything too useful.
  5. I understand your frustration, but you have to understand that ALL of those restrictions were asked for by the players to help cut down on RMT spam and theft.

Free players can't use tells? Because of RMT spam

Free players can't use broadcast? Because of RMT spam

Free players can't join supergroups? Because RMTers were joining supergroups and cleaning them out.

Does it inconvenience brand new players that are nothing but friendly, genuinely interested people? Yes, it does. But without those restrictions, we'd have a whole host of other problems to deal with, and those problems would be felt by every player, from free to VIP.
  6. If it's only unlocked for one character, there's an error somewhere, as it should be an account-wide unlock. Are you absolutely sure that you're not just looking in the wrong place for the item you're looking for?

To see if you can use it on multiple characters, create a new character, and in the costume creator, try to find the steampunk faces, just below the 'normal' faces (e.g., Face 1, Face 2, etc.).
  7. There are a few ways for you to jump back into the contact chain. I'll go from easiest to hardest:

    1) Open up your contact tab, and click on the "Find Contact" button. It will list all available contacts for your level, and you can even teleport directly to the new contacts.

    2) Do radio/newspaper missions in a zone appropriate to your level, and then do the safeguard/mayhem mission from the brokers to get introduced to a contact.

    3) Go back to your old contacts that are too low level for you, and they should introduce you to contacts up the chain.

    The Walking Dead

Finally got to watch it last night, and while I was impressed overall, I did notice more than a few cases of people holding the idiot ball, mostly the writers. I mean, if all Rick needed to do was separate the two walkers by a little bit, and then hit them with a rock, he really didn't need to run too far away from Sophia. He was in a creek bed, with one of the walkers coming down with him, and the other one standing on the bank still. He didn't need more separation than that when he finally took them down.

Still, it leaves plenty of mysteries out there, and I like the direction they're going with the zombies not being totally mindless and doing some "weird" things that will hopefully be explained.

The only thing I didn't really buy was them finding dead, but not reanimated, bodies in cars that were fine. I get that you'll have a few deaths from an accident, but who just sits in a car and waits to die? Wouldn't most people get out and walk, or try to maneuver their cars around the wreck? Or is there a possibility of some sort of zombie-virus-related reasons behind it?
  9. Well, the way people are it's completely believa...oh darn.
  10. It might not be there anymore, since every once in a while the forums get purged of old threads.

Still, if it is around, it'd be down in the Virtue server forum, down towards the very bottom.

More walking!
    Are you being serious?

I would love for a No FX option as well - but as should be obvious by many of the answers:

    1) for most people, it isn't a problem
    2) most people don't consider something a problem unless it affects them personally

So I'm not holding my breath for a fix.
I get that to the OP it's a problem. I also wouldn't mind if the Devs created a "No FX" version of every power in the game. I'm just surprised that the OP has chosen two of the least offensive visuals in the game to complain about when there are so many worse offenders out there.

Don't get me wrong...I absolutely know that I am in the minority here...as most players only care about numbers.

The look of my character is tops for me. Whether I'm playing CoH or when I was playing Champions...the look is the most important thing for me. Although my OP was more along the lines of venting and ranting...FX (and hopefully the option to remove FX in the future) is something I definitely care about...because is does get to a point of where you really have to sacrifice for your look...and that is very unfortunate.
I like the look of my characters, too. More so than needing them to be numerically tops. Even then I don't mind these graphics, but maybe that's because I'm used to much, much worse offenders, like Ice Armor and Energy Aura.

I have never thought to myself that Maneuver's graphics interfered with my look. It's such a minor effect.

    Maneuvers FX?

Yeah, Maneuvers and Combat Jumping are some of the least visually intrusive powers in the game. I have no problems with their graphics being the way they are.
  16. I don't care if the recharge stays the same or not, just make the damned animation not take longer than it would take to get to the mission in the first place!

cause I dont see it !
Have you made several purchases from that credit card recently in this game? There is a security feature that they use that will prevent you from buying too many things quickly (within a 24-hour period), so if you have used the same card a couple of times already in a short amount of time, you may have to be patient and try again soon.
  18. It is my new favorite set. Is it hands down better than every other set? No. Is it good? Yes.

    Stun master?

Also, if you're just looking at control in general, and not necessarily just stuns, a Dark/Ice Tanker would have loads of enemies not hitting you because of all of the various effects on them. If you just used the fear/stun aura, and not the damage aura, anything around you would either be:

    Afraid
    Stunned
    Constantly falling down
    Asleep
    Held

Combine with Earth Mastery, and you can get an additional:

    Immob
    Hold
    Sleep
    Stun
    Slow

It was brought to my intention that though this power set was intended to reduce opponents to crippled gas victims, the set's powers do not achieve a controlling effect. Thus I have re-posted my new power set idea under the dominator archetype forum. Please let me know what you think of these powers set under a new archetype.

Additional: The color tailoring of this power set needs to be more apparent, when a person wants black smoke, that is what they should get, when they want white smoke or purple beacon haze smoke, that is what they should get.

Also, the attacks were originally designed as an attack focused on a particular individual, but now I am wondering if these attacks might work better as a targeted area of effect. An example would be the "caltrops" or "ignite".

Lastly, the gas effects may be under sold, additional negative modifiers may be warranted, but in fear of an overpowering set, I tried to maintain what I think to be a rather "conservative" string of power effects, thank you for your time.
You do realize that Dominators also have a "Control" primary, right? This set still has very little actual control to it, but it seems like it has a decent amount of damage and debuffing. Very few powers in this set (two, I think) would actually benefit from Dominator's inherent power, too.

A control set kinda needs to, you know, control.

For the defense side...i can only remember the winner...Willpower. (tho i THINK Psy Armor might've been an option)
Psi Armor was an option, though Shields was actually the winner. We were just told at the time that that set would take a lot more work than other sets to get done, so they gave us Willpower (the second place finisher) first.

The only way I think this really works is if you break it down into subcategories of AT's. Unfortunately, that's really just bringing us back to where we were, by having the builds back in their respective AT categories!

It's too convoluted. It's a hectic looking page and to make these builds easily accessible, a person shouldn't have to look through a bunch of posts on the FotM to find a.... Gravity/* controller build (for example).
^This. If I'm looking for a Brute or Tanker Build, why should I have to pour through Blaster/Corruptor/MM builds to find it? Sure, if I'm looking for a StJ/Elec Brute Build, finding a StJ/Elec Scrapper build should work, or even an Elec/StJ Tanker. However, the Elec/Storm Corruptor Build is nowhere near what I'm looking for and doesn't help me at all.

I, too, thought that maybe having some subcategories would be nice, but that broke down pretty quickly. Sure, Scrappers, Brutes, and Tankers could share, and you could maybe even shoehorn Stalkers in there. Then you could have another for Defenders/Corruptors, but then everyone else need their own subforum anyways. So we've really only saved three forums of space.
  25. This seems like just a rumor, and an incorrect one at that. Never even heard that the Devs might be doing this, though I would like it done on certain powers.
