Ty for the comments guys they have really helped. I will defo get Inferno and Consume as early as I can now.
One of the reasons I went with the Leadership pool, was the obvious additional damage buff from Assault which I though would go well with Aim and BU and then slotting Tactics to mean that I would only put 1x Acc enhancement in my remaining powers.
My toon is only level 11 at the moment but when hastened, I have a good attack chain already (FBall, FBre, FSC, Com repeat) and so was a bit stuck for power picks later on. I could well drop short range high damage attack (can't remember its name) for Fire Sword, if it is advisable but would need to be convinced why I should take a medium damage attack over a High one.
The Medicine pool was mainly because I wanted Aid Self to help with my downtime and as a comfort blanket to compensate for my squishiness.
And as for "Why Fire?" I know your a big Elec/Elec fan Plight but IMHO its just not as cool. Soz. -
Deffo get both. Reduced downtime and you'll want to get Stamina at 20 so you might as well, unless you've got to have Sprint and Hurdle.

Hello All,
I have succumb to my altholisim again and rolled a Fire/Fire blaster, not very original I know but I have very little experience of blasters and thought I would start off with a build for PvE that would ideally be AoE heavy and cut through mobs by the score.

Does anyone have a Storm/Energy build. I should imagine the Knockback would be a nice combination with Storm?
-
I have a vl 16 troller and love hot feet. I use AS as my main single target attack and HF for taking down mobs.
I am Fire/Rad so I tend to use the following:
1. Fire Cages (re-applying as needed)
2. Radiation Field (loaded with tohit debuffs)
3. Run in with HF
4. Heal myself as needed.
Playing with a nice Empath really helps but when I get Flash Fire and Envernating field I should imagine I will be going through mobs like hot butter.
I also have AM (3x Recharge & 3x End Mod) and this helps a lot as the build is such an end hog. -
I see what you mean Carni. Flashfire + Fire Cages is a cheap and dirty hold until I get Cinders. Does anyone slot either FF or FC for damage?
FC in particular recharges reasonable quickly but I should imagine 2x Acc. 2x Dam 1x Imob Dur and 1x Recharge would be pretty effective. -
Hello All,
I have a couple of questions about Bonfire:
1. Does anyone have any info on the damage from this power?
2. I pressume it can be used in conjunction with Fire Cages or Cinders to stop your foes running pell mell? Can someone please confirm?
3. In the scenario above combined with Fire Cages (and therefore getting the containment bonus) is it a viable offensive power? I'm imagining Cinders+Fire Cages+Bonfire+Burning Feet for loads of DoT fun.
4. If it is a viable attack how should I slot it? 3x Damage 3x Recred?
Thanks in advance. -
Well I've got a Fire/Rad at the mo and I've found that using the first debuffing field from Rad (can't remember its name) loaded with tohit debuffs, Fire Cages and Hot Feet I can do obscene amounts of DoT when I eventually get Envenerating Field at 22 this will get even better.
Its almost reminds me of "Blazing Aura" from my old fire tank. -
Only problem I have found is that while Ice Slick is obviously great, it doesn't set up containment which is a pretty big negative.
-
TY for the responses.
In regards to the Dominator bit, I imagined running Arctic Air, Steamy Mist and Hurricane, using my AoE Immob to set up containment then using AS and either Punch or Kick to put lumps on people.
I will get AS at lvl 6 and see how I get on. If I can get that recharging quickly enough and it does enough damage I'll skip the Fighting Pool.
On the face of it Steamy Mist also seems like a reasonable investment given the Res, the stealth and the resistance to Confuse.
In regards to Archy, I know what you mean about being spoilt for choice. I like Fly though (having found TP a nightmare and SJ not accurate enough) and this would be my chossen travel power. -
Hello All,
Just started an ice/storm troller (very FOTM I know!) and wanted to ask a couple of questions as I haven't played this combo before:
1. I am going to get Air Superiority at lvl 6 as I figure it will pack a nice wallop on contained targets. However I've noticed the both Brawl and Mutagen don't get the damage bonus from Containment. Will AS get the Containment damage buff?
2. Is Steamy Mist worth it? I know the +def is pretty poor but what is the +Res to energy etc. like? I should imagine the res vrs. Confuse would be nice in PvP.
3. Is it possible to make a Dominator type build? As I said I'm getting AS and could get Punch and then Tough from the fighting pools. IS this viable or just a more efficent way to collect debt?
Thanks in advance. -
I think the point that I was trying to make is that Brutes operate with the same mentality as Blaster or Scrappers in that the best form of defence is to kill your opponent as quickly as you possibly can therefore offsetting the need for uber-defenses.
Granite is still has the highest resists of any armour in the game for a brute which is unquestionable. I however would prefer to not have the -speed and -recharge penalties and concentrate on damage output by having a nice, balance attack chain.
Stone clearly isn't pants, I just believe that it doesn't really fit as well into the concept of being a brute as some of the other armours. -
Got to agree with Max here. Stone is really lacking as a Brute secondary IMHO and Granite with the -speed and -recharge seems completely counter to what being a brute is all about.
-
I agree with the comments about Dull Pain, your Resists pre-SO's are pretty weak and a well slotted DP is a great way to increase you survivability.
I would also take Jab as a great fury building combo with Brawl and then Haymaker at lvl 2 but drop Punch altogether. I think an attack chain of jab/brawl/jab/brawl/haymaker would be much more effective than jab/brawl/jab/punch.
In addition Haymaker when you have a suitable level of Fury will mean that you can one-shot even level mobs and take a big chunk out of Leui's - which is nice. -
Suuuusssssshhhhhh. Don't tell anyone but Stone Melee rocks bells. Good Disorientate with Stone Fists and the Mallets will have your opponents bouncing about all over the place.
Oh and your extreme damage attack is also a hold - which is nice. -
SM is an end-hog and no mistake. I think that that makes Build Up ideal for the set. I am planning to slot BU 3x Recharge and 1x Acc buff whihc will mean that I can concentrate on slotting end reducers rather than damage in my Mallets o'doom.
Reading the posts a lot of people on the US forums are also swearing by Fault as a great soft control tool. Can anybody confirm this? -
Ssssushhhhhhh....don't tell anyone but Stone Melee rocks bells! I've got a SM/Invi and he is absolutely stonking.

Good effort Wolf, its a really well made vid. Particularly liked the Blind Minatour section.

Hello All,
Getting a RAM upgrade next week so CoV should become a lot more enjoyable. Was thinking of having a go at a MM and fancied Ninjas (mainly for concept purposes) but I can't seem to find out a great deal of info about them on the boards.
I appreciate Thugs is FOTM at the mo but why is not much on Ninjas? Are they seen as gimped? -
Nice work DD. One small thing, I dont think Khorrigans link is working it takes you to photobucket instead.
Keep up the good work. -
I have a mind/kin. The reason I like this combo is that I am only taking the self-buffing powers from my secondary. I found that with mind/storm there just wasn't enough power slots to accomadate all of the powers I wanted.
-
I've got a lvl 14 Stone/EM tank called Max Rock on Union although he's still a bit of a young pup.
Thing I have found it that I still don't have a very good attack chain as I only have Barrage and Bonesmasher from my secondary at the moment. The decent attacks in EM are very late coming and Whirling Hands IMHO is pretty rubbish.
The long term plan is to be running around in perma-Granite TFing stuff. Not very original though is it? -
I s'pose I'd better get my Team Speak sorted out then if we're going to be doing more of this sort of thing.
The problem is I'm a 33 year old, Dad and Husband whose missues already feels that the computer is the greatest threat to social cohesion (and marital bliss!) and I've got to get a set of headphones and sit there and talk to the thing now!
Will the ignominity never end?! -
The knockback from Energy is a real pain as well with Kin. particularly the heal.
-
I was hoping that CE, Tough and the patron shield would have culminated in some reasonable resistence. Foiled again!
