Its not the theft of pants thats the danger with RP'ing its the inherent satanism.

Jacobs Ladder is great too! If you get it lined up right its just as good as Shadow Maul except its not DoT.

I think it depends on your boredom thresh-hold. Illusion is just boring up to 16. Perfectly soloable but its just levels of blind, Spec. Wounds, Blind, Spec. Wounds, Blind, Spec..... you get the idea.

And here's where bad controllers show themselves....the secondary is there for a reason.
There's for the most part a lot more variety to controllers at lowlvl than most other ATs

Oh sorry I forgot. Kinetics lets you do the Blind/Spectral Wounds combo - but quicker. Great.
Fire Cages And Hot Feet sorts the men from the boys. -
Prolly right. Although it will be the difference between "Dying loads" and just "Dying lots".

I have a Fire/Rad who solos well and Accelerate Metabolism is a great boost for a soloist. Fire has more variety. -
Well I prefer Kin to Dark because you only get the -Res from Tar Pit but with Kin you can stack Transfer Power several times which is a nice buff and a nice debuff on enemy damage.
With Speed Boost and Haste you'll have no problems stacking the -res of sonics and the +dam of Transfer power although you will have to watch your end usage if your solo. -
I prefer anything Kin based although I would go Sonic, PSI, Elec in that order.
On a team though, with no End worries multiple stacked Speed Boost + Haste are great fun and serious DPS. -
Agree with the above. In a general comment on things Flaming Aura-ey I like Elec/FA combo too.
Kind of the exact oppostie of EM/FA as your swapping ST damage for loads of great AoE. Elec is a really underated primary IMHO. -

The healing flames doesn't require full slotting, 2 heals and 1 end reduction takes it to 30 seconds, which is enough for most tankers.

IMHO I would definately six slot Healing Flames. 3x Heal 3x Recharge and just stick it on autofire. IF end becomes an issue swap in some end redux to suit. -
FF is pretty much bob on. However EM is all about single target, burst damage, with two extreme attacks available which is essential for PvP.
However for DPS, SS is great because of Rage and both Axe and Stone Melee are underated as you can string together really good attack chains. DPS is more important in PvE so it really depends on what you want.
With Stone, Axe and SS levelling is also a lot easier as you can build a decent attack chain early in the game - which is impossible with EM. You'll be grinding for ever going barrage, barrage, bonesmasher, barrage, barrage. -
But with PvP in mind, Rage is awesome and FA is the only primary with a +Damage power in it.
To get maximum burst damage go FA. To be more survivable go Ice.
Chilling Embrace also gives a -13% to incoming damage as well as the slow and for that alone is awesome. -
1. If you intend to PvP, which you might late-gane keep both.
2. If you team with Trollers who are prepared to help with immobs and understand what you want to achieve take Burn over the frankly naff Whirling Hands.
3. 3x Dam 3x Recharge. -
How about; FA/SS?
Nice quick attacks from SS, KO'Blow is great, Handclap a real lifesaver and Rage. Mainly single target but what the hey you got FA.
FA gives you healing flames (now wonderful with the reduced recharge), Flaming Aura (great for PvE), Consume for end replenishment and Fiery Embrace for even more damage!
Rage+Firey Embrace+KO'Blow = bliss. -

Sorry thought this was the Right Said Fred thread. My bad.

Hello All,
Just a quick post that as of 7th March I have cancelled my account.
Thanks for all the fun in game, on the Forumites channel and on the forums too. Since I8 came out I think I've logged in only three times and just can't justify the expense or the amount of time I spend posting at work.
Big thanks to everyone who has made the experience so enjoyable.
Take care. Keep the Rawk alive! -
Very sad news. Take care of yourself and if your ever on WoW, I play on Darkspear.

Much like CoC. When I was keeper I used to make my players roll 3 characters at a time 1 to 3. The idea was that the player would develop an idea in advance of how to introduce each PC into the advenutre so that when one of their characters died or went insane (as they inevitably did) there was continuity to introduce the new character.
I think that in all my time playing CoC the highest lvl a character reached was lvl 6 before unfortunately getting killed by an animated wood burning stove. -
But which other RPG allowed you to shout;
"EAT STUMP GUN PERP!!"
Another fun thing was a to mix up your PC's Lawgivers and have them guess which one is theirs.....always remembering that the palm-print recognition system is wired up to a small explosive device. -
I enjoyed Warhammer RPG the only thing about that I didn't really like was the career section. It really suited the power-gamers who would say, right must become Judical Champion asap to pick up +40 WS then become an Archer asap to get the +40 BS and so on.
Combat was a bit clunky too for anything that wasn't humaniod shape because it all relied upon critical hit tables. Whereas I never found that a problem with Rolemaster because the tables were more generic. Judge Dredd had the same problem as I recall. -
Lol fantastic!!! I did love RoleMaster though, it was one of my favorites. Shadowrun v.1 was also awfull, the combat in particular. Full auto combat went something like this;
1. Roll to hit
2. Roll to determine how many bullets out of the burst hit.
3. Roll hit location for each bullet.
4. Roll damage for each bullet.
5. Subtract each hit locations armour value.
6. Calculate damage.
Great! Works really well with mini-guns which shoot 1D100 bullets per burst. -
The games that I played (obssessed about) included;
CoC
AD&D and D&D (second or third edition, although we all started on D&D first edition!)
Judge Dredd
Rolemaster
Cyberpunk 2020
Marvel Superheroes
Warhammer RP
-in addtion there were hundreds which we played but not in any great depth. Anyone remember Tunnels & Trolls, Maelstrom, Pendragon and Palladium?
Glad to see that there is a fair balance of old skool games and not just all White Wolf in there. Gimme tables, gotta have tables, lots and lots of tables! -
Hello All,
I am a stranger to this particular section of the forums but I used to be a keen P&P rp'er in my late teens and it without a doubt still affects aspects of my adult life.
How many of you out there still play P&P RPG's? If so, whats popular at the moment and if your an old timer like me, what did you used to play and what do you remember most fondly?
I don't think one exists but it would be nice to have a regular old time P&P RPG thread to dip in and out of, from time to time.
