Not unique as such, in my opinion you have chosen the most popular primary and paired it with the least popular secondary. I think that the reason FA is unpopular is it's lack of a god mode power at lvl 38. Don't let that put you off though. I've had loads of fun with my FA brute lately. Don't expect to be able to "tank" though. With the recent changes to Healing Flames I've found FA to be a lot more surviable, it recharges so fast it's astounding.
Just got my EM/Fire brute to lvl 50 the combo has insane, stalker-like ST damage (Build Up + Fiery Embrace + Energy Transfer + Total Focus) and once you get the AoE immob great AoE damage from buffable burn 
The buff to healing flames means you get a 40% heal every 20 seconds not including hasten (some people call it a regen brute now 
) Dont expect to tank large mobs unbuffed but with tough and a few purples I was herding 16 mobs together for burn goodness (managed to get lvl 50 in 189 hours which isnt bad if you call fire the 'weakest' secondary).

I just wanted to clarify that I never said FA was the weakest secondary; just seems to be the least popular.
I don't have a EN/FA brute, I have a fire/fire and it is great fun to play and very effective too.
No you're not. En/FA is one of the best for single target damage, especially for PvP.
Same goes for FA/En Tanks.
Nice to know I'm not alone. Indeed, I have founding tanking to be a bit of a challenge, although the change to healing aura has certainly helped there. I have acrobatics (KB was becoming a real pain) and tough is in my build although I might not have it yet.

Agree with the above. In a general comment on things Flaming Aura-ey I like Elec/FA combo too.
Kind of the exact oppostie of EM/FA as your swapping ST damage for loads of great AoE. Elec is a really underated primary IMHO.

Jacobs Ladder is great too! If you get it lined up right its just as good as Shadow Maul except its not DoT.
