Brute for PvP?
Not many people will chamion Energy Aura secondary for Brutes but I have to say I've found it excellent for PvP (only tonight managed to get 19 kills in a base raid). Its a defense set so you will take quite a lot of damage when your hit but you can get such high defense this isn't often. With conserve power and end drain you never run out of stamina as well as being able to play as a sapper. Was able to comfortable take out tankers in RV the other night by teaming with another player with end drain, they cant fight back without stamina. And of course the jewel in the crown is Overload, this is quiet simply god-mode for PvP.
Energy Aura is a late bloomer but don't let anyone tell you it cant cut it in PvP.

Kind of new to the CoV scene myself, and I was planning on making a Brute suitable for PvP (and not too bad at PvE of course ) Anyone have any ideas?
What's elec like in PvP (If anyones got one high enough yet?)? (Shields and attackwise?)
[Edit]Sorry, I'm meaning Arena PvP, not zonal[/Edit]

Elec got mostly cone/aoe attacks, so theres no big single target damage. the shields give high resistance to energy, but only like 40% to smash/lethal. since there is no self heal, you will find elec/elec rather weak in 1on1 pvp. however when used right, elec can drain endurance pretty well, and teamed with others you can play your part in pvp.
in general i would say energy melee for pvp, and either /inv or /EA as secondary.
I'm glad, I was think Energy/Energy for this.
Don't even look beyond Energy Melee for offence. The stuns it has really put other sets to shame and damage output on it is very high.
Not too sure about energy for the defensive part though. Granite is the obvious one but you do have the horrid lack of mobility to overcome.
One of the best PvP brutes I've seen is an invuln so that could be a good set(or the guy could just be a good player).

Unless they bring high s/l res, SS is pretty good as well. it got -fly ranged, high aoe damage, knockbacks, aoe disorient, good single target damage.. and.. RAGE!
Dark melee can be very good in PvP, negative dmg is less resisted, fear is seldom resisted, a heal, the self rez has a good secondary effect, also the -acc would go very well with energy aura to ensure you are seldom hit.
Edit: Ah yes silly me no rez for dark melee
Edit: Also it has an end boost power, i nice self buff and an imob for those ones you want to leave till later
Self rez is dark armour, not melee
However, fear is insanely useful. Annoying empath buffing everything? Lock him out of the fight for 20 seconds!
i have to disagree Syn, Elec/Elec is alot of fun in PvP even in 1vs1, i took down a SS/Ice Tanker, an Energy/Ice Tanker, a Rifle/Devices Blaster, Illusion/Kinetik Controller and almost won a Fight vs a Dark/Reg Scrapper last Night but no chance with spamming me into Terror so i lost it. Elec/Elec uses the biggest weakness of most of the Chars here in coh/cov, the Stamina. I leeched their Stamina down to Zero in no time so they had to use all their Inspis to keep the Toggles running but after they went out of them, they were just history. If you play an Elec/Elec in pvp you need alot of patience since it is no onehit/winner button AT but with the skills you have you can win most of the fights in 1vs1. and just remember you brought me to take tough for my Elec with that it gets me almost to the Invul slash/leathal resi
oh and btw , i really do laugh about all energy offense sets who try to fight me with 9x% energy resi and im very happy i made this Brute since most of the players use energy for their melee chars

oh well seems like i underestimated the end drains of elec
looking forward to go hunting on RV with you
yea we really need to team up in RV since it takes me some time to get a Blaster off the Sky but that Assault/Devices was stupid he just came down in the right moment and crossed my Lightning Clap
Jum, give me a shout next time you are on villain side and i'll bring you along for a mission or two so you can see En/EA in action PVE style.
Just hit 32, and have been happily wandering about sk'd up to blind's stalker and doing ok. Aid Self is a must for the build - I'm skipping conserve power as I don't have end issues with stamina and energy drain, and taking taunt for extra fury generation/annoyance. Insanely good single target damage, but struggles to grab fury in a team with a more aoe centric brute. Not a problem though, as you'll do loads of damage anyway. Having tested Overload in the RV event, I can safely say you'll love it - it is imo the best level 38 power in the game.
Man I love my brute

imho pretty much any 38th power makes you near invincible in 1on1/2on2 matches (exept /dark, /fire etc that is). imho the problem with defense based 38ths powers is it can be easily beaten with force of nature and such, boosting you ACC so you can just hit through it. res based provide more survivablilty imho. unstopp boosts me to res cap (90%), and i got a self heal taking my hitpoints to 2800, unless you bring good psi damage you wont get me killed easily.
i know it might be a matter of taste, but as SS/ brute im not having too much problems beating def based builds (ice/, /EA, /SR sometimes) because of pretty good ACC in rage/invincibility.
anyway i usually dont use unstoppable myself unless im outnumbered, for me its just boring using 38th powers in 1on1 or 2on2 matches, its just gonna end up with no one beeing able to kill the other one...
same for inspirations... i dont use them at all in pvp, for me its not your inventory vs my inventory, its build vs build.
Energy/Energy
Energy/Elec
Energy/Fire
Pick one,their all very good.
Suuuusssssshhhhhh. Don't tell anyone but Stone Melee rocks bells. Good Disorientate with Stone Fists and the Mallets will have your opponents bouncing about all over the place.
Oh and your extreme damage attack is also a hold - which is nice.
Oh yeah Stone and Super strength are pretty damn good!
for pvp zones super strength and stone melee are better than energy imo due to the knockback and range, in organised team pvp i'd go energy melee tho.
for secondary i'd pick in order: fire, energy, elec, invul
It depends who you're fighting....
I personally think that SS is best for PvP. Lots of single target, good knockdown to stop runners, and Rage gives abig boost to your acc + dmg.
Sure, I guess Elec Armour is good against people that to Energy damage.
Sure, I guess EA is good against poorly slotted PvPers.
Sure, I guess DA is good against Neg/En and squishies.
Sure, i guess Stone is good for survivability.
Even FA is good. Against Fire damage dealers.
