Ice/Ice Baby
Heh, ice/ice baby is my search comment. My current build is a few posts below but for leveling up I think I would take more attacks early on.
Sounds like you're off to a good start! Meleeing is the way to go with ice/ice and Ice Sword Circle should have that annoying pause at the end removed in the next few weeks.
1) 3 endurance reductions ASAP, then add confusion and maybe slow when you can spare the slots. Personally I think 3 confuses makes most difference and wouldn't bother with the slows since they do nothing to -recharge. You really need the endurance reductions and you still won't be able to run it constantly until you have Stamina 3-slotted with SOs.
2) Sounds viable to me and I believe Cynic does that. I just have Arctic Air though.
Observations in general, hm.. prepare to have some endurance trouble, avoid Frostbite, beware of PUGs doing invincible Arachnos missions. Remember that Domination fills your endurance bar and makes you godly. Be as fast and furious as you can. I think that's about it
3 end reds in AA, then if have more slots some confuse durations. If you're picking CE too dont put slows in AA, CE gives more bang for the buck.
CE will need at least 2 end reds if trying to run with AA, you will run out of end often, however you will be able to herd a group and drop ice slick and survive (I should write a herding guide for Ice Doms I suppose) It's worth also focussing on Bitter Ice Blast, which isn't a melee attack but damn it's good and fits nicely into the attack chain.

My Hero Builder is a little out of date but there you are.
I still get stupidly low on end and each of my melee powers has an end red in them, as does bitter ice blast and frost breath. The two other blasts both just have 1 acc in them.
Travel Power's ccoming in kinda late there, and I didn't use Power Boost until Glacier really so that could be move back

It looks very nice! Just a few minor things I'd do differently:
- CE doesn't need that many endreds. It's pretty cheap, 1-2 is good. I think you'd be better off putting some endurance reducers in the attacks instead. And I'd forget about the slow enhance there.
- I'd drop either CE or Shiver and get Hasten earlier. Patron powers have some nice stuff you can get at 41
- I don't think hold durations are really worth it in Jack Frost since he uses his hold so little
- I'd probably go for just one acc for Block of Ice (high base accuracy) and 2 for Glacier, and put some recharges there instead.
- I'd consider a range enhancement in Frost Breath. Makes it much easier to get a big spawn in it.
Thanks Cynic. I could swop out the recreds from GIS and BIB for end redux'ers if I am going to pick up Hasten.
What I have found is that I play my Dom in a very similar manner to my Brute (suicidal?) in that I rush from mob to mob and build up Domination in the same way I do Fury and then whammo full endurance again.
In regards to the travel being late. I know, I just can't help it! The build is really tight as it is. I would have liked to have got the Fighting pool and get Tough but just can't fit it in. I should imagine the CE damage debuff + Tough + Patron shield would lead to a very resilient character.
Also I can confirm that the irratating delay at the end of ISC has now been fixed.
Cheers Idris. Ill drop the Holds from Jack and use them to boost Shiver with an extra slow and AA with an extra Confuse duration.
I have 2 hold durations in Jack Frost, there are ways to make him go into Melee (you have recall friend, I just view him as expendible and resummon him) He can keep bosses perma held or at least busy unti you're ready to fight them then.
When Jack's out I often use his CE with my AA and dont bother with my own CE btw, they stack just as well and he gets more agro that way

IMO Ice Blast isn't really useful at high levels, and could be worth respecing out.
With the late travel power you will find yourself getting squished lots in zones by passing mobs. It doesn't take much to kill a dom. Have you considered SS?
I feel that Shiver might be overkill.
I respeced out CE (although I might get it back at 49), becuase I had to many toggles and it was draining to much end. However I do usually play with CJ and acrobatics on.
I really should do something about this signature.
I used to have Recall Friend for moving Jack around but it felt too cumbersome. Nowadays I tend to let him be a coward and blast at range if he feels like it, occasionally resummoning him if I really want him in melee. He does tend to run in eventually. When I'm soloing I sometimes make an effort and lure him to attack first by using Super Speed, but I rarely solo anyway. Solo spawns are too small, controlling them gives no satisfaction!
Oh, and different strokes about Ice Blast, I guess. I agree it's not great damage but I use it loads. The blasts keep my dom bar up.
Oh Ice blast is fine until you get some better attacks, then there isn't really room in your atack chain (unless you can't get close for some reason).
I really should do something about this signature.
Does anyone know what the damage debuff on running Chilling Embrace is? On Ice tanks I think its 14%. Also is this damage debuff S&L only or is it across the board?
There is none
Zero I'm afraid.
I really should do something about this signature.
Bum.
I believe (but can confirm) that Jacks CE has the Debuff, but yours is the blaster version and has none (what do you need debuff for, you'll never get the damage and debt badges that way)

I was hoping that CE, Tough and the patron shield would have culminated in some reasonable resistence. Foiled again!
i made a sort of similar post a while ago when i made my dom after much tinkerin i we finally came up with this for a build:

its a little innacurate to what i actually have now. I as gettin smooshed on a regular basis solo at lvl 15 so instead of health i took AA early, now i hardly ever get hit at all lol. Note the lack of ISC, its too slow regen takes forever, doesnt do that great damage and currently has an irritating pause at the end of the anim.
Hey there, just thought I'd swing by, my ice ice dom has come into his own in the 30s and I'm really enjoying a build that i could brely solo before, now hes on the 3rd setting.
my best tips would be:
*dont slot any slows
*slot your hold and particularly your AoE holds early
*go for melee dmg and control over ranged dmg, but dont neglect range as ice cones require positional play
*slot some range in frost breath, it gets crazy with an SO or 2
i've found that CE isnt too bad on my end (i have no stamina or hasten at 34 btw), although i have 2 endred in it, AA is hurting though, i plan to add a 3rd and reading this thread im interested to hear about confuse%/tick and dur/confuse, comments pls?
all my attacks have 1 endred, including block of ice, i have neglected the AoE imob to only 1 acc and not taken chillblain as i dont seeany need to. I have acc range recred dmg enred in FB (need it about this often as it a main dmg dealer in teams of 2+, and even solo), in shiver i have acc and range and its range is about 130-150% of my FB i think, 3 slotted ice patch is almost perma, this was one of my earliest aims and works well. AoE immob kills my end totally and ISC is hard on it but worth it, i tend not to use ICS or FB on less than 2 targets. i have jack with 1 acc 1 dmg atm, no plans to add hold as im tight on slots, but i will add anoher dmg (as anyone who has played a no stamina build will tell u, more powers = less slots per decent power).
from here i want to work on my confuse if its worth it, im also considering slotting the sleep, personally i hate sleep, but in small tight teams it can save lives, and its recharge isnt as harsh as the hold.
i pretty much perma hover until all is held, using PB im nippy enough to get out, shiver, FB, get in and melee again, although im considering swapping from hover/fly/tp foe to tp/tp foe/hover, i'd like to fit in recall friend and definately AS for PvP/awkward flying mobs, hasten obviously will make the toon more viable, but atm im enjoying a casual build built on good sense and a bit of fun.
any comments on what im doing wrong would be nice. o and im thinking power sink at 44, i can build domination afst without end issues if not using my CE/AA toggles, once i hit PS i dont see much need for stamina.
Plight
3rd endred in AA makes it useable, definitely. I plan to slot 3 confuse in mine if I ever go back to playing the guy.
I might try adding 2 Range to Frost breath, but doing that would lose me an Endred and a Rechgred so I'll probably test at a shop level.
Shiver I dont have, but I might take later, my slow's + Jacks slows with the aura's is enough for PvE
Ice Patch, yep 3 slots and hasten, almost perma, the power of the set (or is it AA, one of them)
I dont have any imobs, they break Ice Slick and stop people backing out of melee when AA is running. As I value those powers, I dont want to break them
ISC I tend to use towards the end of fights when teaming, end cost seems high, it hangs slightly (does it still???) and generally draws attention. FB I use when recharged, possibly my main attack
I have jack fully slotted. He@s the only thing I have against bosses most of the time and so i keep him
sleep i dont use as slick wakes them up
i run cj to stop from being stuck with qan imob cause ice has that possitional element. i guess that would be the same as your use of hover
cant see anything that you are doing wrong. corners + ice slick + frost breath is my favourite solo tactic. other than that i think i play the same as everyone else

I find Frost Breath is fine with one range SO, it gives it a range similar to my other blasts.
I really should do something about this signature.
noted
2 range in FB allows me only 1 dmg, im thinking i will go this way, but 6th slot wont be for a while yet anyway
shiver is a huge cone, 60 odd feet base and about 110 degree arc, so far ive noticed it has below average/useful accruacy sometimes, i have 1 acc 1 range, vs my FB the range is overkill, but i pan to go 2 acc 1 range 2 recred
IP love it, not got hasten, will if i 'go PvP' but for now i can survive fine
immobs break KD for 1st 5 seconds, tehn its immob+KD according to Keith, as for the -melee of AA im all for melee
ISC with 1 endred and 3 dmg (1 acc) is nice, i tendc to use it early then again later, but not vs 1 mob as i try to play conservatively dmg/end, the aggro isnt too bad i find, although i try to use it post glacier/ice patch, the hang up on the end is gone, the animation is now totally viable imo
i think jack will get 1 acc 3 dmg, if i go PvP then 2 acc 2 dmg 2 hold
i havent actually planned a build, but i have a rough idea, if i do one i'll be sure to post it here
Plight
I would avoid Frostbite at all costs, otherwise can't really go wrong. The ST immob is often useful, though. Enjoy your ice dom!
Oh I'm all for melee when it's me hitting, but when they hit back I like them to step back and shoot me, it hurts less. And that's what I use AA for, mostly I get to choose who's melee and who's not.
Yeah it is only a small stoppage of KD with the imob, but normally enough for them to hurt me greatly (Keith's a Rad, he doesn't feel pain the way a dom does)

As long as you do the Atlas & KR Mayhem Missions at 5 & 10, taking a travel power a little later is more of an option these days, what with the Jet Pack and Jump pack...the 4hrs use you get will more than get you to 22, as long as you don't stand around with them on and just use them to actually travel
And to solve the heavy End problems Ice has, you can always go with Scirroco (Power Sink) or GW (Dark Consumption) for your patron
Hello All,
I had all but given up on CoV due to the lag I had been experiencing but my B'day is coming and with the thought of getting some more RAM I decided to get a head-start on rolling a Dom.
Having chossen Ice melee as my Assault set I expect to be in melee on a regular basis and have already picked up Ice Sword and ISC. To this end I have a couple of questions:
1. How should I slot Arctic Air?
2. Given that I hope to be meleeing a lot is running Arctic Air and Chilling Embrace a viable strategy. I beleive that just running those two toggles will mean me hitting the -recharge and -slow cap on even level mobs which should mean lots of ISC fun.
If anyone has any observations on this or advice on Ice/Ice dominating in general please post it up - it will be much appreciated.
