"Psi is a really bad idea since it gets resisted heavily when it is resisted."
This. Psionic isn't resisted that often, but when it is (Carnies, Arachnos, Robots) it gets resisted out of the wazoo (although technically carnies have Psi Def and not that much Psi Res)
Negative Energy is similar (undead resist it heavily)
Fire and Cold seems to be your best bets. -
Quote:No, he's just consistent (most anarchists are not) there's no moral imperative that you follow Recluse's edicts: It's just that he'll crush you if you don't. Because he's free to do what h wants as well.Because S*perman is from Smallville, and Recluse wanted to be from somewhere grander?
I don't see how anyone at the head of an army of spider themed thugs can be considered an anarchist. That's quite some fascist hierarchy he has there.
Recluse does not expect loyalty: In fact he expects DISLoyalty. But he does hope you're smart enough not to cross him. He just takes anarchy to it's logical conclusion: If there's no one making any rules (IE: No archon) the there's nothing preventing him from doing whatever he wants.
"Why build up an army of spider-themed thugs?" you ask. Why not? If you want to stop him, feel free to try.
Recluse accepts no moral imperatives, no restriction on his free will beyond his own desires (and that of those powerful enough to check thm, but even that is temporary)
When you move to the extremes freedom and tyranny becomes the same thing: The only truly free indivdual is someone with unfettered power. -
It's also possible that she never discovred the soul-addiction thing and thus is more or less a psychic heroine with a voice in her head that tells her to party
-
Quote:Recluse is a consistent anarchist: There's no limits except your own. You are free to do whatever you want... Until you piss off someone stronger. You mean any that is written well.
That's among the reasons villain content is so terrible. They alternate randomly between trying to make a case they are the good guys, and being overt bad guys. You could find tons of examples of explicit public propaganda of BOTH. They also can't make up their minds if they are anarchists or fascists.
And sometimes they alternate in the same content!
He's fairly honest about it. -
I'll just quote from DeVore's bio:
Quote:So Vanessa DeVore was obviously someone at least well-known as a hero at this point (her first soul-devouring came during the war, IIRC)Witness to the horror and devastation of the Rikti, and the fall of so many heroes, Vanessa felt she had no choice but to don the mask. Vanessa had an offer ready for Giovannas spirit work together and share their resources or else both would die. United in purpose, Vanessa/Giovanna did her part against the Rikti. Although she could not mentally dominate the aliens directly, she created an army of perfectly-coordinated, fearless soldiers under her mental halo. She fought until near collapse, and then in a moment of desperation pulled too hard on a subjects soul and consumed it in a flash of hunger. Although horrified by what she had done, the rush exhilarated her and recharged her. As long as she had souls to sustain her, she could fight indefinitely. Vanessa/Giovanna devoted her forces to the Alpha Strike team. When the Rikti portal was destroyed, all of her puppets were killed. Cut off from her resources, she collapsed.
Quote:I have some degree of doubt that renaissance Italy popularised ultra-short miniskirts,
You know that "decadent corrupt carnival city" that shows up in every fantasy novel?
That's Venice with the serial numbers filed off. -
Vanessa works with the Resistance, and the Syndicate (hey, the father of her child is their leader!) but she pretty clearly states she thinks Scott has fallen off the deep end.
Which doesen't mean she still won't work with him, but her building up her own power-base with her own resistance members is entirely plausible. -
Quote:Because if everything is soloable that means you're going to be unable to create a whole lot of team-oriented gameplay (say a mission that requires you to push buttons simultaneously, to pick one that is actually in COH, not a very good example since that's not a very fun gameplay mechanic, but there are others)Everything storywise, sure, I can buy that. Everything mechanics wise... Why not? Why must certain rewards have a "You must team with other people" component appended to them when some of us are perfectly fine earning team-centric rewards solo at a very reduced rate? Why do you require that I don't have something in particular?
-
They're definitely not limited to one-per-spawn, however, they seem to be limited that way on default spawns (IE: 0x1)

Anyone checked out Branforth the Seer's letter from the Omega Team Time Capsule thing?
There's a few interesting things there:
"The glor'ous monarch will defend, his homeland to the bitter end, An army built to soothe all doubts, but ripples show in upstart bouts, Make you choice: red blue or gray, choose who to spurn and who obey, You'd like to think there's no price dear, but the real world is not so clear."
Obviously refers to Emperor Cole and Going Rogue in general.
"I saw a mirror torn apart, thousand-spiraling work of art, Behind a veil was once a fool, now its creation is its tool, Suffered from a mighty fall, seeks again to consume all, To face it our heroes prep, to win just watch that first step."
Given the mirror and world-devouring this probably refers to Rularuu.
"A peaceful race comes from afar, a living message in a jar, Find they cannot grow any more, into new flesh they are reborn, Silence breaks by the gods thunder, coexistence cast asunder, Now just one culture slow to change, not evil pure but surely strange."
This one is annoying, since it could refer to any of our three alien races: It could refer to the rikti (peaceful before the Nemesis thing) the Kheldians, or the Shivans. All of them are "reborn" into new flesh (Rikti via the transformation of humans, kheldians by taking a host, shivans by reanimating corpses) I'm leaning towards Shivans though, because they're the only ones with a divine connection (in their name, being y'know, shivans)
"Bloated life which has not a peer, gobbles all that mankind holds dear, The hive will grow to rise and fall, all will battle the monster tall, Across the way a mirror flow'r, has no such foes slow its devour, Not placated with scraps to eat, it's rage shall spark leader's retreat."
Refers to Hamidon, obviously, and it's Praetorian counterpart.
"A thousand men with javelin, fight to compound their master's sin, Darkly corrupt by twilight gaze, a secret deal to end our days. Hero, villain, that time forgot, what do they know that we do not? Side-by-side both sides excel, fighting for time-warped parallel."
Cimerora and the ITF.
"Time's river's course is left to run, till shattered by the million suns, Eternal gear comes back to warn, all must beware the coming storm, From ice and flame and tests of will, forgotten deeds one can fulfill, Has he made strong by accident, those whose acts will despair prevent?"
This obviously refers to Ourboros and the manipulation thereof. But who's "He" in this? Silos? Ramiel? The letter writer?
"The iron turns into crystal, their doomsday shall be missed til, When a pair of fives arrives, power flows and power drives, The spinning rod lives again, then destroyed in evil's den, Mere prelude to what bright hell, comes from drinking of the well."
This one is obviously referring to incarnates and the Well of the Furies, but what's the spinning rod and the pair of fives?
"Man kills brother; sets into motion, a hundred lifetimes of commotion, Meticulous manipulation, attempts to take this very nation, Within mirrors glow he finds a pawn, his trick forces them to take us on, We shall fall for his games no longer, that which challenges makes us stronger."
Obviously referring to someone manipulating someone from an alternate reality. Nemesis would be an obvious clue (the Rikti) but I'm thinking of someone else... Maelstrom. And that he might be manipulating Cole to invade Primal Earth.
"The web is formed in careful craft, since fatal rescue on a raft, Wraith- beast- hulk- thief- prepare for war, the mastermind will hide no more, Let loose the tide of villain mix, heroes will gain their own new tricks, And in the end; a world fini, unless the one stops destiny."
Refers to the "Time after Time" story arc, as well as the Statesman's task force. -
Apex was fun. Tin mage was just ludicrously easy.
The interesting thing is that due to the setup (several powerful mobs rather than many weaker ones) it seems less rewarding than the ITF (where you get a whole lot more shards)
Battle Maiden was fun though. -
You can only have three tips in your "inventory" at the same time. Other than that tips seems to drop very frequently (I usually get a tip a mission, although it can be annoying when they don't drop, at the very least)
-
Quote:Mender Ramiel says outright that one of Mender Silos' former aliases is that of Nemesis. Is this in the lore some where? I mean I know it's been said for a while now, but is this in the game, or just a well known thing?
He also cautions you that this was a LONG time ago. -
Don't drink the water?
ENRICHE IS FROM THE SHADOW SHARD! -
The simplest solution would simply be for the devs to cap the amount of XP/mish you can get. Like they do with tickets.
-
The one thing I think could really improve the market would be a longer price history (like say, the last 100 or 500 sales rather than the last 5) preferably with a tool to automatically calculate the average and median prices from that.

Quote:No, that's not actually true. Medicated states of mind may be limited in duration, but they're not any less genuine while they last. But they're only shallow responses, not the genuine deep emotions that we get in our normal lives.
Medical disorders can and do affect our emotions (as do the medication designed to alleviate said disorders)
Quote:Well, as our imaginations are unlimited, it's kinda hard for me to list something that's infinite - so it'd probably be better for you to list the pre-selected responses you think we have -
-
-
Quote:Prove to me that humans can do anything other than respond toa pre-selected set of responses.Feel free to show me a robot that can do anything other than respond from a pre-selected set of responses
Machines can never have an imagination - they're too limited - the best they can ever do is respond to things based on the stuff we've programmed into them - they can never have emotions. -
Quote:That's wrong. Emotions can be manipulated, and to some degree created, by chemical means. That's how drugs work. (both recreational and medecinal)Not really, no - flight is a simple physical thing - it can be defined by physics, and is based on solid principles that can be broken down and studied, and then created and recreated.
Emotions are the opposite - they can't be defined or rationalized or broken down to be studied, or be created or recreated.
If someone wanted to know how flight works, they could read about it and understand it - but something like love can't be defined or understood - it can't be made to happen and it can't be made to stop, and it can't be copied - it's just something that's inside all of us, and it's one of the things that makes us human - and it's something that a computer can never feel. -
-
Huh I've never had anything but the normal ambushes in tip mishes (IE: 3 minions or 1-2 minions/1 lt on normal difficulty, with possibly one or, in a few hoary cases, two bosses)
There are a couple of praetorian missins that has some pretty crazy ones (mainly in the Power Arc) although at least some ofthose are, IIRC; weakend versions and not full-strength minions thinking of the "SYNDICATE HORDES APPROACHING!" mission...) -
I'd just add one thing: "Defeating" rather than "kiling" enemies makes more ense from a narrative standpoint, because you never know when an enemy is going to show up again.
So you "killed" Requiem at level 35 but oops, there he is again at level 50, safe and sound. -

Quote:That's how civilized nations deal with each other. I believe the term is "Mutually Assured Destruction."They sold their souls to demons in order to wipe out the Mu to the last man, woman, and child. That's fairly uncivilized and primitive, I'd say.
It may be mad, but it ain't *primitive*.
