The Shadow Shard Is mean

So I've been running around collecting all the cool new exploration badges from i19 in the hazard zones and I have been reading most of them.

Reading the Exploration badges from the Storm Palace and the Chantry (Working my way backwards.) And these things are mean, they are hateful and insulting. Seriously making me feel bad for my hero and the choices he's made and its just brutally harsh.

Good work devs. Gives the Shadow Shard some more character, now more Shadow Shard Lore and Arcs, TFs etc please

I loved it. The badges really re-inforce that the Shadow Shard is a place of invasive madness.

Can a player get some links or info?

Absolutely agree. I was just happy to be able to run around the zones again, but the extra atmosphere makes me like the Shadow Shard even more.

Which makes we want there to be something more to do there even more.

The flavor text for all the new hazard/trial exploration badges is just great. It really helps to flesh out the backstories of the zones, and is even quite grim at times. Like, there's a radio antenna in Dark Astoria that broadcasts/used to broadcast all sorts of things after the zone was take over: cries for help, inhuman languages, beastly roaring, etc. And those that were able to find the signal and listen to it either died or befell some tragedy. In the Northeast corner of Boomtown, there's a storage container said to be full of corpses used by the Vahziok for their experiments. Hamidon is made out to be some sort of primal, god-like being when you travel through Eden.

Kudos to the writer(s)!

QFT! Very well put.

Honestly, the Shadow Shard is a mystery to me in a way. It's maybe one of the most original, ingenious ideas in the game, the lore and backstory to it is deep enough to almost make a small video game just for that. Yet despite the seemingly limitless potential and coolness for the zones, and the fact that the Devs clearly have an idea or concept of what the Shadow shard is all about, (as proven by those incredibly well written badges.) It's so completely under-utilized.

However I have a hope. That as the Incarnate stuff goes along, which is all about heroes ascending into godhood, that they will give the Shadow Shard a bit of a revamp, put in the other areas mentioned in the lore and give some incarnates some really tough Rularuu to fight, perhaps even Rularuu himself.

(A guy can dream can't he?)

Honestly Incarnates VS Revamped (Updated )Shadow Shard + Rularuu would be pure win.

Ugh. Seriously? You guys seriously LIKE them?

Let's put aside the fact that they're character-jacking god-moding needlessly long-winded nonsense that is completely irrelevant to any character that isn't a hero, human, and fairly well-adjusted, and stupid enough to drink weird red crap falling from the sky in a dimension ruled by a mad god where giant eyeballs try to eat you. Let's put that aside for a moment, and discuss the utter waste of space.

There are 24 badges in the Shadow Shard. 24. Obviously whoever wrote them wasn't limited to the single-sentence blurb we normally get for exploration badges. That's 24 opportunities to get into the lore of the Shard. That's 24 more tantalizing tidbits we could have been given. If done well, they would have answered a question or two, and brought up a dozen more. Instead we get "The Shard is in your head and makes you crazy, whooooo!" (let's ignore the fact that people have been living there all their lives and are still as sane and rational as you would expect from people who have spent their lives trying not to get eaten by giant eyeballs) and "Don't drink the water." Sheesh. If this is what it's going to look like, please don't touch the Shadow Shard, ever.

I will admit, Fist of Fury would look nice over my Brute's head, and my goth Scrapper must get Hate Machine.

The weeds of crime bear bitter fruit.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

It's like bad drivers. You think there everywhere because they stick out and you notice them. But if you stop and think about it, you realize the two guys who cut you off are the only ones out of the 50 other cars within sight of you.

Same applies to all that other stuff. They seem like there everywhere because no on notices the humans.

I loved the Shadow Shard stuff. It's not the "lore " of the SS in a historical sense, but it gives more depth and feeling to the type of place it is, makes me think of it as more alive and malicious than just floating rocks.

As for the other ones, all of them are great, loved the ones in DA, though I was reading them at night watching a show about ghosts and it was getting creeped out, not gonna lie.

However the Shadow Shard ones, well they just struck me as mean, like the whole damned place was hating me, that was a cool fealing the Shadow Shard itself, all 4 zones HATE you and they are MEAN, yes, the whole place has emotions, they aren't nice.
