Yeah, about that self-destruct button.....
Oh, you figured it out. -
So many cards stacked against him...
I really like this story Blue. -
My 50 Blastermind Spider justs buys a jet pack from Grandville when the previous one runs out. It's not quick, but it works, and it gets you there.
No travel power chosen, just bought. Too many fun blasty-minion-summoning powers to take. -
Some folks want higher pop.
Some people want lower pop.
Some folks like where they are, high or low.
Some folks use other servers as long term storage for less played alts.
Some folks want to join the specific communities available on different servers, like RP on Virtue, LBGT on Victory, or falling-down-drunk on Pinnacle.
Server transfers make all these people happy. -
"Better one spider than ten flies."
The size, species, speed, waste evacuation methods, and aggression of any lifeform intruding into my habitat will be considered before I descend into a flurry of violence. -
It's been said, and I seem to spend a lot of my time on this board agreeing with people....
No rush to 50. Have fun where you are, doing what you are doing. Some content is level-gated, but fun is always available, no matter what your level. We can actually turn OFF xp gain, and this was a requested feature!
You were smart to introduce yourself here.
If you have questions, ask away in the Help Channel. For example:
/hc How do I get a cape?
Or, ask in these here forums, above in Player Questions
I'm also a member of the New Player Council, doing what we can to advise and assist new players. Join the N P C channel.
The "Supersidekicking" feature allows players of very diverse levels to join together and assist in each other's missions, allowing everyone to be challenged and rewarded appropriately. It makes forming teams VERY much easy. -
If you have questions, the Help Channel is available for both full account and trial players.
To ask a question in the help channel type:
/hc How do I get a cape?
I'm also a member of the New Player Council, who does their best to advise and assist new players. Want to learn more? Ask me!
You've also discovered the forums, a great source of information from game veterans, with minimal snark.
Welcome! -
Samuraiko has on her site, vids of her presentation from Hero-Con on how to make CoH movies using demorecord.

Agree with Lemur Lad. You found a key, which may now open a large floor-to-ceiling metal door.
Look at your map display. Is there an area which you haven't explored, but is blocked by a door?
Also, you can drop a mission every three days for full rewards. Talk to the original contact to do so. -
I agree with the above statements. I'd suggest you do a serious system-dust-out, and make sure all your cooling fans are spinning when you are running.
A program like Speedfan can monitor temperatures, among many other things.
Previously, while running BOINC, I found it would cause high demand games like CoH and Borderlands to chug a bit. Either shutting it off, or turning off the GPU utilization seemed to help. -
A friend of mine says about farms "padders", "Reduced influence, increased amusement."
It's also possible that if they are doing an AE mission, then an effective teammate might increase their inf/min. -
#1 Make a character you care about. Don't make them flavour of the month, or best synergistic power sets, etc. Make someone. Then give'em powers, and they make the choices that make sense to them at the time.
Yes, Dr. Trevor Seaborn gives the Fortune Teller mission, but Comatose doesn't like doctors, given how he got to be Comatose in the first place!
Rather than a move to 50, treat the game as a story, the adventures of $your hero, in Paragon City. So, then, the text matters, because it's their life. -
BlueBattler wrote a piece of fiction about this very topic. "Survivors." A good read.
Even without immortality, people can have trouble finding reasons to live on. Love is a very good reason, even if, in the the long run, you know it's going to end. -
Welcome to City of Heroes and City of Villains, where the MMO experience just keeps getting better!
Use the /hc channel if you have a question.
Ask questions here too. Board vets race each other to answer correctly firstly.
Also, join your active server channels, for example, Victory Badges 2009, Victory Forum, etc, for more social and teaming opportunities.
Supersidekicking is an excellent feature that other MMOs should steal right now. Learn how it works.
www.paragonwiki.com is an excellent player-run source of information. Thank you TonyV! (p.s. Look up Supersidekicking here!)
Want to be on a team? Don't be a wallflower, form your own!

Strange thing about this game, you can download it for free through your PlayNC master account, but to actually get to play it, you need a valid account.
To save download/patching if you do a HD wipe, or suffer a disaster, or want to get CoH quickly on another computer, you can check on the tech forums on how to burn a copy of the CoH directory to a DVD for a quick re-install.
You can install CoH on as many computers as you like, with computer owner's permission. Seriously! -
Superhero genres always have room for "heavies" like Tony Jay (rest in peace, ya magnificant thespian!), Ron Perlman, Clancy Brown and Keith David.
Hire Jennifer Hale. She'll cover five or six of the heroines at least. Come to think of it, I'd like to see what she'd do with Ghost Widow. She gave a calm and knowing voice to Insa (sp?), the consort of Dr. Fate. Now, with more menace... -
I too really like the Timm JLU series. It allows you a huge cast, and so many interesting stories to tell, from the demi-gods to the street brawlers. The tone can range from comic to vicious.
With a series like this, you have to keep in mind:
1) People who know the universe already. The revelation that States and Recluse were once comrades won't be big news to us.
2) People who don't know the universe at all. So the story can't assume the viewer knows that States and Recluse were buddies.
Given CoH isn't a very famous IP in the superhero world, (shame, shame on you, Marketing! No champagne and hot tubs on the expense account, ever again!) you may have to play up #2.
"They say the City has a millions stories. Here's twenty-six of them..."
Quick cuts to startling/action packed scenes, one from each of the twenty six premiere episodes. -
Beeyooteeful.
Okay, rationally, I sense a bit of cheese, but it's hard to criticize when I'm gritting my teeth, feeling Recluse's strength hammer down on the bulwark that WILL NOT YIELD.
I love this work. Makes me think of "unsung heroes", types who can't really go toe-to-toe with villains, but work behind the scenes, doing what they can to fight the good fight. -
Superb. Love it. Awesome. Crikey, running out of words here....

Quote:Still waiting for the game to pick up on Victory? /e aghastI have really noticed Freedom being slower than normal as of late. It's Freedom, but no where near what it use to be. Virtue has been rather good and I've been playing there a lot. Victory, well, still waiting for the game to pick back up for that server.
Log in Saturday morning, at 10am Eastern, 8am Mountain, and look for Xalaqia. We'll get some pixel-kicking goodness happening. -
Thirded about forming your own team. DOOO EEET!
Even a team of 2 or 3 can be a fun experience. Make sure you've got some missions ready to roll, and be the leader. Be firm, be fair, be fun!
Be polite and verbose in your tells. Some people will accept blind invites, but the more info you give them, the more respectfully you address them, the more likely you are to get an acceptance. -
Hit the tech boards.
But before that....
Update all drivers, verify CoH install, defrag your hard drive, check to see if your power supply can handle the vid card you have, do a thorough dusting of your computer cooling fans and heat sinks using compressed gas.
CoH can really beat down an otherwise competent system. Do you run anything more demanding than CoH? Does that crash? -
You asked the question, and got help, rather than stewing in a pit of frustration. That's smart.
-
Try again. Sometimes, it takes a bit for the authorizations to work through the system.
Also, your PlayNC username/password can be (and should be!) different from your CoH username/password.
Also, as above, the NA/EU differences.
