  1. The problem I have is the pieces I actually want the most are pieces that don't fit in the current costume creator model.

Jumpsuits & Overalls (as worn by Zig prisoners and Dock workers)
Full skirts (as worn by Tsoo)
Robes (as worn by Circle of Thorns)

It would require changes to the costume creator UI (A 'Full Body' group?), and likely interact weirdly with the power animations. I understand that this is *highly* unlikely, but I figure if I put it here it might be put on the list as a stretch goal.
  2. Hiya BlueMyth,

I took some time off the game due to personal reasons, and have returned recently, so a good chunk of this is new to me too. As advice from a sorta-new player to a really new player, take the time to go over all the various options screens and whatnot. There are some customization bits and pieces that might be a bit hidden or not 100% intuitive that can improve your personal experience.

For example, most of the 'drop screens' that open up like the Inspirations, the Map, etc. have a little dot in one corner. Click that dot and it 'undocks' the little window so you can move it around. I tend to do this with the map and the inspiration windows so they're always open in the corners of the screen.

Another example, in one of the 'Options' menu screens there are options that can customize the colours used for your character's word balloons.

It can seem like silly little things, but it's surprising how much difference they can make to your immersion in the game.
  3. That sounds oddly familiar, but I'm not placing it immediately.

I have a vague... very vague... memory of something from the 90's... probably Image comics, the Rob Liefield era. It wasn't mirrors per se, but steel toe boots polished into mirrors.

Darn it, I've nothing beyond that.

Perfect! You've taken this character quite thoroughly... wait...

  5. Just for giggles, would you be so kind as to stick it to my main: http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/WildClaw?

This would be his first 'commissioned' piece.

I could probably send you some cheap booze as payment... Can you mail alcohol in the 'States? It's never occured to me to try before.

    Wild West zone

How about a 'movie set' zone instead?

    Just a thought.
  7. My crazy theories:

    1) City Vault, with a online build planner in a bid to replace the ever-popular Mids.

    2) Opposing faction missions, where two teams have to complete opposing goals with automatic failure if they PvP.

    3) Implementation of peer to peer technology supposedly to reduce server load, but more so the dev's can get copies of all the porn on your system.

    4) Additional client versions to tap into that massive Amiga market my coworker *swears* is out there.
  8. Strengths: For online RPing, not many. If at all. My main experience online is with various writing newsgroups I've participated in, which leads me to being fairly good at big scenario-setting and running multiple side-characters during those scenarios. I'm much more experience with PnP systems with live face-to-face interactions with friends.

Weaknesses: Starting up conversations with people I don't know. This is a big one, and it hurts me a lot with online RP. That, and tracking multiple chats running simultaneously. Not so good with that.

Bingo. When the 'sequel' books came out, I tossed them in the bin when I reached the (very early on) point where you find out what happened to Madmartigan.
  10. Interesting. I have an odd situation, however. My main, WildClaw, *might* appear exactly as he already does. It depends on what you are really and truely able to see. The choices being: the person's unconcious self-image, or the person's true soul.

His current appearance is due to a metamorphic 'curse' (it's more complex than that, but curse is reasonable shorthand), where his physical form has been permenantly transformed into an actualized self-image. Problem being, he doesn't like himself very much, so he was transformed based on both his dreams, but more importantly his fears. So he's this horrendous fearsome wolf-man-thing because that's what he really believes his soul is like. He really thinks he's a monster, so that's what his physical form has taken.

His actual soul-stuff is different. Fearsome and fierce, yes, but also steadfast and loyal, with an almost fanatical desire for personal freedom for himself and others. As such, the wolf-man might still show up, but with a more new-agey totem animal cast to it.
  11. Unfortunately, I don't own a WII. Otherwise, I would. However, I need to ask a question. Will the controller work on *any* WII, or are there different WII models?

I ran into that one with the PS2. There are apparantly several different 'models' of PS2, and you have to buy the remote specific to that model number.

    Red Ring Q

I've not run into the RROD on my xBox, although I have had the transformer powerbrick overheat and needed to be replaced. Which they did free of charge. It was annoying, but I've had bricks burn out on a variety of equipment, so it wasn't completely unexpected. We have a lot of brown-outs at our place due to an old distribution grid in the area. We're picking up UPS units to clean the power into the various electronics, but we can't afford enough of them to cover every electronic device in the house.
  13. With Fitness becoming inherent, that means power choice is opened up. I wonder if additional Power Pools are being planned, or perhaps additional powers to be added to the pools, to 'consume' those choices.
  14. /DA hadn't actually occured to me. Hrm. I'm going to have to think about that one.

I'm noticing that even the ones saying 'KM' aren't talking Brute. Does the KM/ Brute do *that* badly, or are we just not getting many Fury-chaser proponents?

Oh, and an additional detail, in case it matters. I've only got about 6 months of playtime under my belt. I took a break awhile back and recently returned because of free time constraints. So, I'll be honest, I suck at toon-building and whatnot, and I'm not a 'careful' or 'thoughtful' player. I don't know the game well enough to figure out how everything interacts with each other, but I'm trying to puzzle it all out from first principles. I do know that I'm a melee man at heart, as scrapperlock appears to be my primary mode.
  15. Okay, I have a character concept. Unlicensed vigilante-type, easily straddles the line between hero and villain but might be considered 'good' on average. Has been in the Zig as a inmate. Kickboxer, anger issues, very tough, regenerative abilities, animal-like senses, has a minor, uncontrollable fear aura. I think that's all the salient points, but I might have missed something.

I can see several ways to go about creating a toon for this:

Scrapper [MA or KM/Regen or WP]
    Brute [KM/Regen or WP]
    Stalker [MA/Regen or WP]

In each case taking side-switching and moving them over the Vigilante for the minor fear power to match the concept above. Also, if Regen, using the Rectified Reticle: Increased Perception IO to simulate the animal-like senses.

Now, for me, pros and cons:

Scrapper: has the MA set which I think matches the kickboxer bit easier than KM. Starts as a licensed hero though, which jars with the concept.

Brute: Fury fits the concept that I have in my head, and starting as a villain also fits better than the hero Scrapper. Tougher physically than the Stalker, but KM would need me to pick up the kicky power pool powers to round out the concept, which are not (of course) as good as the MA kicks.

Stalker: Threw this in just for completeness. Stealth isn't the character's style, but this gets me MA on a villain. Also quite a bit squishier than the Scrapper or Brute, which concerns me.

So, I'm looking for opinions. To fit this character concept, what would *you* do?
  16. I beleive he's suggesting several costume pieces:

    Tall spikey crowns

More bulky upper chest armour pieces. (Personally I'd like a old-fashioned hard spacesuit/diving suit instead, but that's just me.)

Having a 'blank' face with no eyes or mouth, similar to the mask he posted but without the wrinkles.

In addition, a smooth mask, again like the one he posted, but smooth all around, like an egg.
  17. I like the art style of that pic, Memphis_Bill. I have a fondness for the painted look. Did you do that?
  18. I've not noticed any difficulty with Win7 Ultimate 64-bit.
  19. There are all *sorts* of ways to deal with this, and lots of comic-book precident (Batmobile, Ghost Rider's motorcycle, etc.) but the level of effort needed to pull it off is prohibitive.

If you could currently jump on a car/truck, actually enter a train, boat, or helicoptor and *ride* them, rather than bouncing off or doing an immediate zoning, then I would say devving this would be annoying but not impossible. As it is, it would take a serious engine revamp.

Not to say that this can't happen. Afterall, there have been lots of 'impossible' things that have been/are being done right now, but while I'd love WildClaw to have a big industrial-looking diesel turbine motorcycle available for RP and immersion purposes; I would put this as a relatively low priority compared to increased customability of existing powers, more powerset proliferations, and moving the storylines forward.
  20. Reading this thread, all I came up with was how that's a cute name for a plant-based toon. Shows how much I know.

    Older Dr Who...

Just know that many of the really old episodes that people thought were the *best* are now lost. There was a mistake of some kind at the BBC and a bunch of the original episodes were destroyed in the 70's, if I remember correctly. Audio exists for all of them, but video is gone. Because of that there are a lot of fan-based 'recreations' where they used slideshows of on-set pictures and bits and pieces of recovered video.

Interesting to note, Doctor Who was one of the first shows filmed entirely on videotape. No actual film involved. Serveral of the lost episodes were transfered to film to distribute to international stations, and finding one of these film canisters in an attic somewhere is one of the dreams of every fan.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only reason I want it, as a concept build. I'm useless at PvP, speed runs, or other game styles where maximizing damage output is paramount. So I don't try to compete at that level. I'd just get frustrated, and get other people frustrated at me because of my uselessness.

However, haven't other sets that have been proliferated had minor tweaks done to them so that the numbers on on AT is different from the numbers on another? As I said, I've been out of the loop so I could be misremembering, but I could have sworn set were futzed with so that they're slightly different depending on AT.
