Martial Arts

Hiya, returning player here so I'm a touch out of the loop. Also my search-fu failed me, so if this is a re-occuring topic just tell me to shut up and I will do so.

On logging in and checking, I was hoping that Martial Arts had been proliferated to Brutes. Simply because I have a toon that conceptually it would make sense for (kickboxing villain, anger issues, not a sneaky type). Any sign of that happening on the horizon, or is there a fundamental issue with it?

not yet, but based on past proliferations, id expect it, nothing official or witha timetable though. also, if you are getting gr, there will be a second "martial arts" themed set that will be going to all melee at's called kinetic melee. it will ,according to a video from the pax east conference, involve a number of chinese kung-fu looking open handed strikes, might want to hunt that vid down. that WILL be for brutes, once gr hits.

Honestly, there's really no point for having MA on a Brute, besides concept of course. MA is great on Scrappers because of its higher crit ratio. However, that's not going to happen on a Brute so what's the point? Its damage isn't going to compare to Super Strength on Brutes and that's that.

I will have to dissagree on this there SPiNE ol buddy.

Theres plenty of examples of MA being very much conceptual for Brutes.

Take Oni for instance, they are Demons from the Orient, and lets not forget Akuma of Street Fighter either.Technically he is a Oni possessing a Martial Artist and has a bad temper to boot.

Just look around.Theres a few MA concepts out there that would tie in with a Brute.

I for one would love a MA Brute.

To also answer whats the point?Think back to how Claws compair on a Brute thats got a full fury bar going vs a Scrapper.Iv seen a furied Brute with Claws before. Its damage was very impressive compaired to my Claws wielding Scrapper.

He did say 'besides concept'. But in a game like CoH, that's a pretty big factor to consider proliferating a set for. I know I'd love it if Martial Arts became a Brute set.

One of the reasons being Fury makes everything better, including Martial Art's low DPS.

Yup. Conceptually - I would LOVE to have MA.

I'd love BS and Spines too. ;P

MA would need an alternate animation set in the vein of Geese Howard's fighting style.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only reason I want it, as a concept build. I'm useless at PvP, speed runs, or other game styles where maximizing damage output is paramount. So I don't try to compete at that level. I'd just get frustrated, and get other people frustrated at me because of my uselessness.

However, haven't other sets that have been proliferated had minor tweaks done to them so that the numbers on on AT is different from the numbers on another? As I said, I've been out of the loop so I could be misremembering, but I could have sworn set were futzed with so that they're slightly different depending on AT.
