Congratulations on the new job, AS.
It's been a pleasure. -
Posi had this on his shirt at PAX.
Hmm.
Evil, AS. Evil. -
The current version of Dual Blades uses a pair of scimitars. Hot.
I didn't have a chance to properly speak with Posi, but I did talk with Lighthouse briefly and I spoke often with CuppaJo and the other NCSoft people.
It was a blast working with NCSoft, ArenaNet (Guild Wars) and WizKids (HeroClix). I was pulled off the exhibition floor early on Sunday due to medical reasons, but it was still an awesome experience that I wouldn't have traded for the world.
By the way, the NCSoft people bought me food and that was awesome of them. I've never been happier to be a customer. -
I'm your PAX lackey, Positron.
Literally.
It'll be nice to meet you. -
Hot.
Can we get one of Vanguard for the win? I named my new laptop after them! <_< -
The Cellphone Emote.
I9 could've just contained that, and that alone, and I would've been ecstatic. -

Please tell me about the S/VGs in the RP Congress? What type of groups are they?
[/ QUOTE ]
Aside from those listed by Big Mike, there are a lot more, and we're always open to more.
The RPC suffers from a high level of altitis. Except for Garent. He's a freak. -
My own, trying to get the proper beat...
Twelve Wolves a'forming...
Eleven Mages exploding...
Ten Tsoo a'porting...
Nine Knives a'tropping...
Eight Mushrooms mezzing...
Seven Sappers sapping...
Six Vahz a'puking...
FIIIIIIVE TRAAAAINING DROOOOPS...
Four Illusion pets...
Three Shivans...
Two Rularuu...
And Hami is about to eat me.... -
Just rolled a Randomite m'self. Power Chord, En/Son Cor on Pinnacle. Rahien convinced me... by mentioning it. Getting me to make a new alt is like knocking down a house of cards with a grenade. Way, way too easy.
I've decided to do everything randomly. Enhancements, Vet Reward powers, sprints (got 6), contacts, Newspaper missions, etc.
I've also determined that I will be using my respecs to re-randomize every ten levels. I've promised myself that I'll stick with him until at least 20. -
I have to say, after testing the pets out in the Training Room, I was more than a little nonplussed. I can't see any of my characters actually claiming this reward... I'm hoping that more will be included in the crafting system of I9. I, too, would be more interested in such things as a shoulder panda got to wander around behind you.
My empath wants to be able to call a Tree of Life.
Other ideas that'd be neat... A fire imp, miniature versions of other controller pets, DE Swarms and the like.
Overall, the article was an interesting read, and it's always good to see what the devs are thinking. Information is more precious than gold. -
I remember sending an SK invite to one of the Rikti Invasion NPCs. Since they were just players with the PvP flag set to 'on', and able to spawn other minions. I remember him turning it down. :3
I remember catching him in the Hospital, and laying heavy damage into him before he spawned minions like mad and ported away.
I rEmEmBeR hOw ThEy TaUnTeD uS, aNd HoW iT oNlY sErVeD tO mAkE uS wAnT tO kIcK tHeIr [CeNsOrEd] eVeN mOrE. I aLsO rEmEmBeR hOw We AlL tAuNtEd ThEm BaCk, AnD hOw JoYfUl EvErYoNe WaS aT bEiNg BoTh SlAuGhTeReD wHoLeSaLe AnD sLaUgHtErInG tHeM bAcK.
And yes, that is how they spoke.
I remember how, at the end of the beta event, the PvP flags got turned off, and all the Rikti gathered. I still have screenshots of the Rikti horde hanging around the KR tram.
I remember when being any defender other than FF meant you weren't wanted on a team. Even Empaths had a hard time finding work.
I remember the wagglefoot Storm Kick.
I remember when respec was planned to be for a full, complete respec, from AT selection on.
I remember when armors didn't stack.
I remember people TRYING to get Lusca to spawn.
I remember sleep. -
A joyful day!
I8 is gonna be the best issue EVAR. -
I remember dying in Perez... and being transported to the Founder's Falls hospital.
I remember when 40 was the highest you could attain.
I remember no additional costumes.
I remember Giant Monsters with levels.
I remember someone promising actual Hellions vs. Skulls gang warfare in Perez.
I remember running for my life after taking the KR exit in Galaxy at level 2... and promptly running knee-deep into a large group of Vahzilok. And being cut down just as promptly.
I remember when I used to look at the Vahz and be truly weired out by 'em.
I remember taking on Dr. Vahz for the first time. ZOMG.
I remember friends deciding which server they were going to start on. I remember losing contact with a few of 'em.
I remember that the only good thing about being unemployed was being able to make the beta playtimes.
I remember the trick where you could log out before the playtime ended, then log back in and play with the costume editor to your heart's content.
I remember spending three hours of my first day in beta just in the character creation menu, before deciding to finally "just make something" and try and play for that last hour.
I remember thinking MMOs were a joke.
I remember selling a large chunk of my personal posessions in late April '04 in order to secure CoH, a time card and a guide.
I also remember being frustrated because said time card was a week late in arriving to stores.
I remember using my beta forum name until they forced me to make a new one for my live account.
I remember that it took me until the 24th of last month to finally get a level 50, because I still love that costume creator too much.
I remember why I love this game, and, above all, that's what I try to never forget. -
I will be crying all over you at PAX, just for the record, Cuppa. ._.
-
Oh, lawdy, I feel oh so happeh.
The PCPD needed to become something. As the son of a police officer iRL, I often felt that the cops were pointless in-game. Now, oh yeah.
My pants feel funny. Is it just me? -
Argh. Snowball, snowball, where are you, why do you elude me? I've only opened enough presents to get Toy Collector, why do you run? You too, snow beast! I want temp powers. Stone Tanks throwing snowballs with Magma Armor on is a funny thing.
Also... I was rather disappointed in the fact that there was no Halloween event this year. I still want my rock. The badges would be nice, too. -
When heavily inebriated and able to SMASH!!! as per normal, you know it's a good thing.
<3 SMASH!!!! -
It will be sad to see you go, Gil. Your stories have shaped the way my heroes have developed, changed the game dramatically for me, and provided me with hours of interesting things to read and stew upon. I, like many whom have commented before and will after, send my heartfelt thanks for your work, dedication, and the rose-colored glasses you look at our community through.
You will have to let us know what you are doing later so that we can hound you like crazy. Good luck, man.
And as for your successor? I got a paddle with hearts cut out in it. Hazing will begin soon after introduction. -
Hmm. Idle curiousity.
If one, such as myself, were to become a big preorder nut and preorder from GameStop, EB, BestBuy AND CompUSA, would they be able to 'Upgrade' one account to allow for all four helms?
Just thinkin'. -
Name: Project Rebirth
Website: Project Rebirth!
Recruiting Officers: Black Atom (leader), Quickshot, Mystica, Witch Engine, Skywatch, Footpad, Blueshift, Blue Migraine, Vendetta
Preferred Method of Contact: The website is best, either in the roleplay forum or the application section if you wish to apply. /tells in-game or in-game e-mail are also welcome.
Description: We're a light-roleplay supergroup that's been around since beta. The reformed(?) supervillain Black Atom has put together a clearinghouse of superheroes to defend Paragon City, but what else is he planning? Most of the group is somewhere in the level 22-28 range, and we're definitely looking to expand our ranks with laid-back, mature folks who want a bit of roleplay with their Clock-cleaning and Skull-bashing. -
Supergroup: Coalition of Communist Crusaders for the Proletariat - Earth 3
Website: http://www.cccpgroup.us/
Commissar: Red Saviour III
Officers: Kuo, Jack Blackmoor, Krasny Kulak, Russian Battler
Contact: SG website preferred
Description: CCCP is a Communist-themed Roleplaying Supergroup in the City of Heroes online game. We currently operate on the Pinnacle, Protector and Virtue servers. Our website serves as our HQ, and includes character bios, story arcs, fiction, forums, resources and anything else we deem necessary to our enjoyment. We use the game as a jumping off point for our own collaborative storytelling. -
Thanks for all your hard work, Vyv. I hope the Lineage II crew knows what a great person they're getting. Congratulations on the promotion. Go get your travel power and mosey along!
We'll miss ya. -
One year and two months ago (approximate) I recieved my invitation into the beta for City of Heroes. Having been somewhat following the game, off and on, since it was announced in... 2000, was it?... it's something I was looking forward to. I was hoping it could match my expectations.
I remember logging in with my first character and being blown away... This was no MMO I'd seen before. I'd tested three other games prior to that invite (Only one of note being AO), and had flown through character creation... Faced with the choices in CoH, I spent three giddy hours making my first character, which, in the end, was a jeans-n-teeshirt katana/SR scrapper I patterned and named after myself. I went through Outbreak with glee, then jumped into the game proper... And fell in love. I went and preordered the next day. My expectations? They'd been blown out of the water.
Now, one year after the official release date, I look back on my life in Paragon City. 40 current alts over all eleven servers, with hundreds of others created and later scrapped. My altitis has prevented me from attaining a single level fifty, and even my highest level character just started hunting in Brickston, but I never feel like I'm missing out, thanks to the brilliant Sidekicking feature (The most overlooked feep in MMOs, IMAO... You don't think about it until you don't have it. Some WoWers have been begging for a system comparable). I have helped dissuade critics, turn the nonbelievers, make several people start playing, and have lurked constantly on the boards. I am a proud member of many supergroups, all of which have shown me incredible kindness, friendliness and acceptance.
One year later, my expectations for the game grow, but as they do, the development team works to shatter them again. I love this game. But it is the devotion of the devs that make sure I stay put. Love 'em or hate 'em, they pay more attention to what we as a community say than any other MMO dev team in my experience. They've kept the level of community awareness and responsiveness that they had in beta throughout, and that is why I look upon them with respect.
Thank you, everyone, devs and players alike, for making this one of the greatest games and communities out there. The last year plus has been a great trip. I hope the next year fills up with many more surprises... and maybe a level 50 for me.
*raises glass* Cheers, friends. -
For the sake of my own ego, I'm gonna put down March 14th. Since my birthday's the 13th, and that's a Sunday, and like hell they'll release an issue on a weekend.
