    I am not aware of prestige limits in a single day. The 300K is just a bonus for the first 15 members added to the SG.

    If there is a limit for the amount of prestige an SG can gain in a single day, I would think that would mess up the groups who exchange inf for prestige - check out the Crazy 88's. And I know that Fulmens fairly regularly offers to match inf. to prestige exchanges to help others build up bases.

    There was a pretty good guide to setting up a pretty decent base for that 300K (by Bonker, perhaps) - it might have references to using base salvage for making the teleporters and the old rent rates, but basic stuff like what order to purchase rooms and what to put in them should still be good (the prestige cost of most rooms and functional items didn't change).
  2. I'm another "hopefully I can make it".

    I plan to bring a Blaster - Maurya or Brighid.

    I noticed the SG subforum disappeared. How do I find one now!?

    ....it's so lonely
    Because no one else has mentioned it yet -

    SGs have somewhat been replaced as the best place to have a regular group of in-game friends to play with by Global Channels.

    Head down to your preferred server's forum to ask about what are the best globals to join. For example, I'm on "LB" for my Liberty server alts and 3 channels for the Infinity ones - "Infinity Hamidon", "Infinity badges" and "AE Anonymous". I also belong to "Base Builders Inc." as a part of the base construction community.

    Folks tend to look for people to join TFs and mission arcs on globals - which have potentially a much larger membership than a single SG and even many SG coalitions.

    To join a global channel, once you know which one you want to join, type /chan_join "insert global channel name here" - the "" is only necessary if there are spaces in the channel name.

    You can also check in your server's forum for any regular events, such as weekly TFs or (when you get a higher level character) Rikti Mothership Raids or Hamidon Raids. Sometimes there's a sign-uo, sometimes, it's just a place, date & time to meet up.

    Welcome home!

    New player.

    Make 4 or 5 characters, using different ATs or even just using different powerset combinations within the same AT. Play each one for an hour or two, then decide which is the most "fun" - we all decide what is fun in a different way;

    I started with one of each of the 5 Hero ATs (blaster, scrapper, tanker, defender, and controller). My blaster reached level 50 first, followed by my defender (over a year later, because I have started many, many alts). The scrapper is in the high 40s. I deleted the tanker (I don't really have the tanker mindset). The controller is still around, but is still in the 20s.

    Clearly, I prefer blasting things.

    • Trial Accounts may not join global channels

    • Trial Accounts may not create Mission Architect arcs. They can not interface with the Architect Entertainment Stations. However, they can be invited onto a team that is running MA missions.
    Thanks, Forbin - I was confusing myself answering FWD's question because I couldn't recall whether trial accounts are locked out of even entering someone else's base if teamed. But that would be the only way to get into a base on a trial account.

    If a trial account can enter a team leader's SG base, that would be a good way to expose trial accounts to the good stuff found in a SG base.
  6. The protal is the gate to Supergroups - player-established groups, kinda like Guilds in other MMOs. I believe that as a Trial Account, you can't access any SG bases (I could be wrong about that) - but in any case, unless you are in a SG or on a team with someone who can allow others to access the SG, you won't get any options to enter a SG base through the portal. You can click the blue cylinder - no problems for you if you do.

    At least one of the missions in Port Oakes is accessed through the Arachnos building in the center of the zone. Go inside and one of the interior doors is the mission door. The Arachnos building is one of the tall buildings in the center of the zone, draped with Arachnos symbols. There's a big reflecting pool outside it, and you have to go up some steps to ge there. IIRC, you can come straight down from the Arena area along one of the streets to get there.

    NVM - I missed the Cap au Diable text that Father Xmas picked up on.
  7. Personally, I'm loving the "gouging" that OP decries. Like Forbin, I run a lot of alts (only 2 50s, 6 above 40, 50+ under 40). My lowbies are making money right now, saving up for the future.

    I don't expect the prices to stay high indefinitely, so I'm selling stuff as I get it, only keeping things on a particular character if I know as of right now that I will need it for a particular IO in the near term. I'm also placing those low bids others have mentioned for salvage I am planning on using.

    Of course the reason that is working out for me is because I can switch to one of several other characters to play while I wait for the bids to come through. Those players who are working diligently on a single "main" will not want to use my system - except, of course, they can also reap the benefit of being able to sell stuff for the currently going rate.

    I could see perhaps adding a smallish (25-35) shared vault. I have that on 5 different servers now with small 2-person SGs, so I would rarely use it, but I could see it being useful for those who are only running a few characters spread among multiple servers/SGs.

    Can't really support it, but not adamantly against it either.

    As for making *all* storage shared across the account - No thanks, for the reasons Forbin listed in his first post.
  8. OMG - he has found another "creative outlet" besides the lists and the infernal spreadsheets.

    Thanks for the laughs, but I now need some of that bleach from the first track to clean my ears, LOL. Where did I put that mental floss?

    I already have several Blasters with Magic Blasts. Sure one of them has blasts that look a bit like pink fireballs, while another has blasts that are sickly green (almost as if they were made of radiation). I also have a couple of Controllers with their powers based in Magic.

    Just curious - for a Hot Fix, what alternative means of notice would you think is possible besides the big red letters that showed up in the chat box at more than one interval before the servers went down at 1?

    I'm hoping you didn't lose stuff as well, but your post makes it sound like you think it was unreasonable for Paragon to take ther servers down with just in game messages as announcement.
  12. Actually, Gata will run the LGTF at 3 when the servers come back up.

    Consider how often you play each of the characters. If you're in the range of 20-100 characters, I'm not sure how you can dedicate that much time.

    Consider how much value you get when you play the characters. Are there some characters that are great in a pinch, like a Kin, a melee with Granite Armor, a buffer or debuffer that is considered valuable? If so, maybe consider keeping them. Are there others that you rarely team with? Are there some that you just don't enjoy very much? If so, those are good candidates for the trash can.

    Consider how much effort you would have to put in to make all of those characters full incarnates (10 levels that require non-tradeable (assumption) rewards, of which only 1 is available)

    Consider what would happen to all of your time and effort if the game was to go offline and never return... There is only a finite time a game can exist. Before I ever played an MMO, I had several friends that invested 5 years in Everquest only to have it replaced. All that time and effort was gone.

    Here's an experiment. Make a spreadsheet or list of all your characters. Triage and find, say, the 10 least played or least liked characters. Transfer anything of value away from them. Delete them. Wait a week and see if you miss them. Delete more. Rinse and repeat. You might regret it a year later, but I doubt it. Instead you might begin to feel the unbearable lightness of being with fewer alts. In fact, maybe you should advertise on a thread all the available names you created on the servers of the characters you deleted. That makes it potentially even more final

    As you may have noticed, this most recent issue has caused some people considerable, self-imposed distress. They are: rushing to get to 50, respeccing their builds for inherent fitness, trying to max on respecs to empty out IOs, making 3rd builds, getting new badges, and they are getting incarnate content on each character. That's a ton of work combined. 1, there's no hurry, but more importantly 2, there's no need. There are plenty of players still around. Team with them instead of making your own personal army.

    I had over a dozen 50s. I liked to have at least one of every AT and tried at one point to have one of every tank and controller before CoV. I enjoyed each character on several levels. I liked their costumes, names, powersets. Nevertheless, I feel much better since I deleted most of my 50s and a lot below L50. I still have about 6 and about 10 other characters, many of which I rarely play. Sometimes I use them as WW market storage, but otherwise they're not doing much. I plan on deleting even more in the coming months, because I know I won't do the incarnate content with them and rarely play them now as it is.

    With 3 builds, new incarnate opportunities, and changes in my life in the last 3 years, I find I cannot devote that kind of time to playing. Actually, that's a good thing for the most part.

    Freedom is letting go. Good luck.
    <em soapbox>

    Well, makerian, here's a few more things to "consider" (and yes, I'm using air quotes deliberately):

    Consider the hours of enjoyment in making those characters, even if some of them never get above level 15;

    Consider whether the self-imposed distress of making each character Incarnate is necessary (hint - for some it may be; for others not so much).

    Consider that OP stated he did have 3 level 50's, so he can experence the high level and end game stories on those ccharacters. it's not like OP said he needed to get a character to level 50 because he has none at all.

    The one that really kinda burned my biscuits was this one:
    Quote:

    Wasted? Seriously? The time put into this game is about having fun while you are in-game. If you had the fun, how was the time wasted?

    </em soapbox>

    OP - I don't really understand your problem. I've been playing since Fall 2004 and I only have 2 level 50's. I also have 4 other characters above level 40, and thus able to take part in a good bit of what is end game here (ITF, etc.), although those characters cannot become Incarnate yet, and so cannot do the newest 2 TFs.

    But I also have numerous other characters, including some running through the Praetorian story arcs (oh, darn - they made me make new characters to do them) and every time I play one of them, I am enjoying that time in-game. If I'm not enjoying it, then I have other characters I can switch to as the mood takes me - high level characters, Praetorians, lowbies, redside, blueside, in the middle of switching sides.

    If you really want to get another character to level 50, it probably depends on the type of character and how much you enjoy playing it. If the character is a good soloer, then you can make a pact with yourself that you will play that character every play session for a set minimum amount of time or XP/levels - easier to do if the character can solo if for some reason you can't find a team. If the character is more team-focussed, then make the pact that you play that character (only) on the weekends until you reach your goal, playing the other characters at times when a team may not be as immediately available.

    But mainly - find the one that is fun!
  14. If it's OK, I want to bring my "lowbie" Fire/Ice/Elec Blaster Brighid (assuming I get her the rest of the way to 45 before Saturday.

    Otherwise, Maurya (Energy/Elec/Elec Blaster) should be able to make it.

    I need both shards and the Roman armor....
  20. I had the same thing happen on Liberty with the KR bank mission with an elec/elec blaster. Floating backpacks, can only be hit with Short Circuit (my only AoE at level 14).

    I'm trying to decide whether to bother with ordering the GR box from Best Buy for my husband's rarely played account. Their site states that it is back-ordered with a delivery date of 2-3 weeks. By that time, I may be able to pick up a box somewhere as stores clear their shelves for year-end inventory.

    From my point of view, if we, as the player base, can figure out where you got the idea to begin with, then perhaps steps can be taken to ensure that no other players make the same error:
    • Was it something in the Wiki that is mistyped?
    • Was it confusion in the MIDS user-interface?
    • Was it something that is said in the patch notes?
    • Was it something that somebody posted in the forums?
    • Was it perceived behavior from how you feel like you are hitting in the game?
    • Was it something somebody said in game?
    Again, determining where the idea came from to begin with can help other players not make the same error.
    Actually, if you go back to the OP, you can see that he mentions another thread - which I recall as well - where he asked if Accuracy had been nerfed. I think it was in PQ.

    In that thread, several posters came in to go through the numbers and calculations and to advise him that the RNG was just that - random.

    It appears that he does not quite understand that it is possible to have a string of "rolls" on a random number generator that lead to a perceptibly long string of "misses". From there, my conjecture is that he started researching and made a classic error - looking at your data only in the light that best supports your "hypothetical" position - which in this case is that the Devs nerfed Accuracy.

    OP can correct me (and I'm sure he will) - but I do remember the prior thread on the topic where posters were advising loading Hero Stats and checking combat logs and trying to explain that a random number generator generally generates random numbers.

    Edit - Rats! Jade Dragon beat me in posting the exact same thing.
  25. If it's just a problem with the changed colors for your powers - just change them back? Then they would match the name. That just costs Inf, not real money.
