Quote:Nope. Sorry. Rikti Chief Soldiers say otherwise. Their one sword attack that is only ONE attack, and has no DoT, can one shot you. I've been one shotted by them, by enemies with stuff like Energy Transfer, certain EBs and AVs.There is nothing in the game that can one-shot you. There are things that look like they're one-shotting you, but if you check the combat log, you'll see that they're doing damage over time or otherwise splitting the damage into multiple hits. Those pylons you mention? The damage is spread across six hits, which gets around the "no one-hit kills" rule.
It's completely possible. Anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves. Either thats WAI or not, but it still happens. -
My verdict on a water based powerset;

Quote:Ok, personal quibblea out of the way first; Go easy on those poor question marks, willya? They don't need to be abused so.I am kinda new to CoH, and want to make a Warshade, but posts I have read say that some of the random encounters can kill you in one shot at 50. Is this true??? Has there been a patch to help with this?? I mean, whats the point of working to 50 to make a "powerful" toon, if you can still be one shotted??
Secondly, people, I dont know where you keep pulling this 'Oh you cant be one shotted' crap from. Yes you damn well can! You cant get one shotted from FALL DAMAGE. NPCs are fair game. Go run at a pylon in RWZ and see how far that gets you. Enemies can and WILL one shot you if they can. No exceptions.
Onto the matter at hand;
Warshades are quite complex to play the first time around. It took me a couple of tries to like them, and I found three times was the charm. If you go for Triform (Id advise it) you'll need to micromanage a fair bit. The results are, when pulled off right, imensely worth it. WSs are one of the few 'Unique' feeling ATs, in that there isnt really anything else in game that feels even remotely like them. Nothing is more rewarding then obliterating an entire spawn, staggering into the middle and restoring yourself to full health and end over their dead bodies (arrested. Whatever
)
Onto the special enemies, Voids/Quants and Cysts. Voids and Quants are one minion, LT or Boss that spawn in random mobs. The minions are annoying, but bearable. Now, despite what everyone else harps on about 'oh, their wusses now', 'not dangerous at all';
BULL - ****
Lieutenant and Boss class Voids and Quants are dangerous. They do VERY High damage to a low HP AT, have nearly 100% chance of knockdown and even a chance to stun. By the time you've got back up after being knocked down, the gun will be ready to fire again.
However; caution and a bit of planning will usually see you able to deal with them. If your on a team, they can help crush the little vermin, leaving you to go on your merry, soul destroying way.
Cysts, now. Cysts are lethal if you run in unprepared. If you are careful, they only spawn a few Nicti clouds, which can then be obliterated along with the crystal.
IF your unlucky, you get this;

The Purple Wall of Doom.
Overall though? Warshade are worth it. You get out of it exactly as much as you put in. Dont expect them to just run themselves. And you only need to get a toon to 20 to unlock them. 'Epic' means 'Epic content/storyline', not 'Godmode toon'. -

Ahh. Yeah, its lost all the coding by the looks of it, on IE.
Even so. Its not something the Devs can fix. So its reeeeally pointless posting here. Because they dont run the NCSoft site. The NCSoft tech crew who run that site run the site.
Its a nice heads up to people who dont know, I guess. But serves no other purpose. -
Go have a look in Perez Park. See if you can find the Hellions 'Girlfriends' and see what they think of ya

Hasn't Tales from Earthsea been out already? For quite a while now? I have it on DvD...or is this the US release?
As for Spirited away, and in fact a lot of Miyazaki's work, I get the feeling a lot of it is wasted on Western audiences. Miyazaki Senior uses a lot of subtlety in his work, and I get the feeling Western audiences just dont, for the most part, appreciate plots that, to them, seem convuluted and strange.
Stuff like Spirited Away, where there is really no actual villain. Even the witch Yubaba isn't really a villain, because she has qualities that make her more human. Sure she can be greedy and cruel...so can a lot of people. Spirited Away is more a story about growing up and becoming happy with yourself as a person, not a fight of good versus evil (by Miyazaki's own admission. He's a spectacular artist too, and I envy him)
Howls Moving Castle I admit did fall apart towards the end, which was a shame. It made sense to change the plot, however, because how many Japanese people will understand the part about Wales, and British in-jokes about beer and rugby? Very very few. Heck, even you Yanks likely wouldnt get some of them
It was written by a Brit, remember.
Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke were both fantastic films. Even then, they follow the theme of not really having a main Villain. There are 'Evil' factions in there, sure, but even the likes of Kushada in Nausicaa and Iboshi and Chiko the monk in Mononoke aren't really 'Villains' in the western sense of it.
What I'd give to be able to apprentice under Miyazaki...and speak Japanese. That'd help

What, you mean the page on the NCSoft master account site?
The site run by NCSoft? The one not run by Paragon Studios?

I just wish they'd execute all the idiots who somehow get to make movie games.
Those things are offensive to my brain! >_<

Deleted one 50. My first character, Invul/EM tanker. Got to 50 and then the EM nerf came along. (Sorry, I still view it as a nerf for tankers) Ripped out all his sets over a few respecs, transfered all the inf, salvage and recipes, etc etc.
Then deleted him.
Only to be reborn as an Invul/Elec Tank. Good heroes never die

Awesome!
No, seriously. It means I can now steal stuff and recouperate any losses during theft nearly instantly, rather than having to sell in bulk.
It's all good!

Some people do want to be team leaders. Some people just don't. I just...eh. I can't describe what it is about the idea that bugs me. Possibly already summed up by Brillig, tbh.

Paragon City Outskirts, East Coastline
A tall figure stood on the hill, wind tugging at his hair and jacket. This time it was white, pure as snow, the same as the smart trousers he wore. A blood red tie was a shock of colour against his neck, as he leaned on a long cane clasped with both hands on front of him as he stared out to sea. His eyes narrowed slightly behind ruby lensed glasses as he sighed.
"This is going too far."
Leon DeFuerard turned, casting an eye over the war-walled city behind him. Paragon. What a curious, intruiging place...and what a danger. With the Rogue Isles in such close proximity, it was no wonder the place was such a hotspot for the wierd, wonderful and downright deadly.
Even so, the events that were steadily building to fever pitch were, to his mind, beginning to get out of hand.
While it was true that Leon was on no particular side, his key believe was that life, at its heart, needed a balance, something that, while inherent, could be upset. And the events unfolding seemed to lead to only one conclusion, and that was an upset of the balance. Either the gathering legions of darkness would crush the hunters, and then spill over into a greater conflict... or the Hunters and thier allies would not only push back the tide but also begin a steady extermination of as many undead, demons and otherwise as they could.
Neither outcome was acceptable, not to Leon. If the Court and their masters won, he would either be dragged into it or, more likely labelled a 'traitor', an irony that gave him a brief smile. If the Nighthunters and their allies won, he would most likely be on the hit-list for termination, especially given his split from MAGI. While they had been more annoyance than anything else, they had at least given him one trump card to use from time to time, he had to admit.
How vexing.
Stetching his arms out to either side, Leon stood for a moment, eyes closed, listening to the wind.
His eyes snapped open, eyes pure red except for slit black pupils, glowing even in the later afternoon light. The air around him seemed to still for a moment, as if his very prescence caused it pause.
"Come to me."
The words had a power of their own, enough even to make the air ripple for a moment. This was not magic. This was something stronger.
Blood.

London, England
The Dorchester Hotel
A young lady sat up in bed. It was totally dark in the room, but she could still see perfectly. She glanced down at the figure beside him; good looking, young, strong...he was nice, and a better conversationalist than a lot of good looking young men she had encountered over the past...however long it had been. She lost track of time sometimes...
A pair of eyes flashed across her vision for the briefest of moments, leaving her with only the rock hard certainty it had been there.
"Un-holy ****!"
She slid out of bed, moving silently to the window and peering through the curtains, the moonlight gleaming momentarily off her flawless body and giving a slight shine to her raven hair. After a moment, and with a sigh, she turned back, regarding the young man in the bed.
Tonight and the morning were still hers. And, this time, she would at least give him her number. There might be some hope for this one.
After that, though...
There was family matters to attend to.

Somewhere under the Franco-Swiss Border
The Hadron Particle Collider
There was always one person who worked late. He barely seemed to sleep. Most people put it down to a serious coffee addiction. At least it didn't have a bad effect on him. If anything, he seemed more normal the more he drank. It was when he went without coffee that he got incredibly edgy.
The young man leaned back in his chair, staring at the screen with a calculating look on his face, pausing only to brush a strand of long, dark-brown hair out of his eyes, or rather off the lenses of the dark reflective glasses he wore. He wasn't overly tall, but he was incredibly well built for a scientist. He kept himself in good shape, informing his colleagues that regular trips to the gymn were important to maintain the higher functions as much as the body. He also used it was time to catch up on reading.
"Hmn....carry the six-" he muttured under his breath.
Eyes, blood red with slit black pupils and a fiery glow burned themselves onto the inside of his eyeballs.
There was a loud crash as the chair shot back, depositing it's previous occupier in a heap. This was followed by a string of curses in English, French, German, Italian, more in English, Russian, an unknown language that made the air snarl and warp for a moment, and even Latin.
A hand latched onto the edge of the desk, dragging the young man up behind it. His eyes, pupils ruby red in the stark lab lights, glared at nothing for a moment.
"Damnit, father," he muttered quietly. "You sure pick the moment to get back in touch..." -
Maybe colaborating together on a slightly longer post would be better than a blow-by-blow account. It'll also help avoid anyone feeling slighted when it comes to their chars, etc etc.
Just a suggestion. -
*Takes a good few steps back and sets up a deckchair to watch what comes out of all this*

Take capes off engineers. And Centurions. Full stop. And clear all those damn mobs on the bridges.
BaBs said how badly capes can affect performance en masse. What on earth possessed them to give so many of them to the mobs there? Taking Phalanx fighting off of the minions (or at least those with more than one attack) would probably help too.
Eitherway, I still cannot believe that lag valley is as it is. -
1. Remove -tohit
2. Give GrpFly slightly slower than flight speed
3. Make it as stable as hover is.
Sorted. Power is fixed, win/win -
This is why I hate plots diverging into about three different sub-plots all in different locations. It makes it a swine to keep track of...

Nah, your not bad. Trust me on that one. You know your bad when myself and others tell you to stick it where the sun doesn't shine
Just take it slow and, if you think it might come out wrong, just don't reply to whatever it was. I tend to read over what I write, and sometimes I just delete the post while thinking 'Meh, not worth it'
(And for the record, I like the Rider 00
Who's to say kids in the Paragon Universe don't get inspired by stuff? )
