How about giving MA a hadoken?
[/ QUOTE ]There is precedence, Claws already has a Sonic Boom. -

So in your opinion, do you think MA is a bit under-performing right now even after the changes? I know MA is not unplayable.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is by no means unplayable, and in terms of pure levelling performance I don't think any player, neophyte or expert, is going to have difficulties playing the set and getting at least decent results.
What I think it lacks is that it doesn't especially excel at anything, except perhaps executing pretty (and often long) animations (CAK is still questionable, though). I say that within the context of asserting that the vast majority of powersets *do* excel in something, or alternatively have a unique combination of strengths, relative to their peers. This is not just true for scrapper powersets, or melee attack sets, but nearly all sets everywhere: so much so that I think that failing to satisfy that criteria is itself grounds for re-examination in my opinion (my opinion is that all powersets should have at least one good conceptual reason for existing, and at least one mechanical reason for existing, or its design is flawed).
I have lots-o-ideas there, but I think its also true that scrappers in general, and even martial arts scrappers in particular, are not a high priority issue at the moment.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah I agree and that's why I thought a true Flying Kick (with about 20-30' range) would make MA stand out a bit more. MA doesn't have the best stun (EM has), doesn't have the best knockbacks (Claw) and doesn't have the best burst damage (EM or DM Stalker), and doesn't have the best damage type (all smashing).
I think Eagle Claw and Cobra Strike could use some buffs. I mean 6 attacks out of 7 are all Kicks. Cobra is the only "Punch" which does pathetic damage and a very standard melee stun. This shouldn't be called Martial Arts IMO as Martial Arts actually focuses on "punches" a lot. Thai Boxing?
[/ QUOTE ]It depends which martial art you look at. Judo and Sambo are all about grappling, Tae Kwan Do is kicks, knees, and elbows, and very few punches, Tai Chi is smooth, flowing strikes, etc. -
Stop skipping Midnight Grasp.
Honestly, forget Tough/Weave. I haven't touched them on my DA/SS and you're still sitting on some good resists to S/L. End reducers in DR, for sure. -

I think it would make more sense to simply remove the tohit debuff in pvp zones and allow RTTC to stay toggled on, regen or no, when mezzed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I agree with that. Like Temporary Invulnerability gives Smashing and Lethal, plus Psionic resistance in PvP zones, but no Psionic resistance normally.
Anyway, Willpower is useless for tanking without RttC and I don't think that is the intent of the PvP rulesset.
[/ QUOTE ]Newsflash, you don't "tank" in PvP anyway. The ones you really want to focus on the nigh-unkillable person won't be in melee range half the time anyway, so taunt auras are generally not pulling much weight in PvP. -

my 50 dark/dark was an end hog as well...as talon said dark regen is huge on end.
frankly my feeling on dark either way is meh at best ..i wanted elec armor when we got dark but i went for it anyways and wanted to like it but just felt blah about it. your feeling honestly most likely wont change.
i havent played my dark/dark since it hit 50..by 40 i had lost interest..my least favorite honestly
[/ QUOTE ]If you have end problems with Dark Melee, you either skipped Dark Consumption, or you're full of crap. -
[ QUOTE ]
How about a Big Orange Word saying "PHASED" if you try to hit someone Intangible?
[/ QUOTE ]We already have it say "UNAFFECTED". Just in the same color as "MISS" and "DEFLECTED". -
[ QUOTE ]
to the ops..im more happy then last time.
see i really wanted elec melee and armor for tanks and we got that crappy dark/dark stuff instead..
[/ QUOTE ]You're complaining about what is essentially only a step or 2 down from granite without the movement, recharge, and damage penalties, and the only penalty being that you need to learn endurance management?
And you're complaining about the attack set that ends endurance woes and has Soul [censored] Drain?
And you're calling them crappy? What fantasy world do you live in? -

I ask because what alternate animation can you really choose for powers like .... and Hurl?

Throw a car instead of a rock? Or even better, make it random like propel is? (But remove the smaller objects, obviously)
[/ QUOTE ]
I would rather not. There's floor everywhere that you can tear up and throw, but having a car appear out of nowhere is a bit of a stretch. I think a alot of people justify propel with the notion of the opject bing pulled from some other location.
[/ QUOTE ]First time I got the car on my Grav controller I cracked a joke about it being his. Then I found out that the object is picked client-side when I was asked why I was that upset about hurling my desk lamp. -

It's preeeety much one of those sword shockwaves that anime loves so much, don't try to think about it too much. Unless you really enjoy applying the fridge logic until it makes sense.

In all likelyhood, Masterminds got Thermal to thematically pair with the Demon Summoning set that is coming with Going Rogue. The demons are almost definitely going to be fire-based and BaBs said something about a Hellfire Whip involved somehow.
So it makes perfect sense to give Masterminds Thermal now rather than cramming it in later.
I am also willing to bet that Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning will be released with whatever issue Going Rogue is going to coincide with, I just don't see them not allowing people who didn't buy the expansion access to those two sets.
[/ QUOTE ]You mean like (until recently) not giving people who didn't buy CoV access to villain ATs or bases? -
[ QUOTE ]
Very disappointed in Electric Melee since it's such a garbage set.
[/ QUOTE ]You're kidding, right?
Please tell me you're joking, because I can't see how anyone can call Elec melee, the AoE king set, the set that's finally getting Scrappers another non-smashing/lethal set, "garbage".
If you said Elec Armor, I'd be inclined to agree with the caveat "on scrappers/stalkers", since its main draw of capped Energy resists doesn't mean as much when cap is 75%, not 90%. -

Semi-related: Castle, can you at least confirm or deny that the list shown on the site (Rad Blast for Blasters, etc) is comprehensive? Is it just a 'these are some of' list, or is that all the ones being ported? Just to direct the speculation from here, so we don't get several months of "But there could be more!" if there isn't going to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it is the same list I saw last week, and I am 99% certain it is, then it contains everything being proliferated in I16.
[/ QUOTE ]
You guys can probably blame me for these sets. I specifically asked them to proliferate sets that wouldn't require new animations or VFX, as we're already swamped with supporting power customization. We had to make one new animation for Broadsword Stalkers, but other than that they were able to directly port everything over or at least pull powers and visuals from existing powersets.
[/ QUOTE ]
This has me a bit concerned for /earth assault. Specifically, Propel Boulder. If this is the animation I think it is, then doms really don't need another long animation ranged attack like crappy impale.
[/ QUOTE ]Play on villain side a bit, specifically against the Earth Legacy Chain. There's your ranged attacks (plus Hurl). -

Ummm.... OG is standard accuracy. You only need the extra accuracy if you actually take Cloak of Fear, and really, that power is just so completely gimped when compared to OG that I'd only take it if I have Fears to stack with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, OG does have standard accuracy, but speaking from ingame experience, I didn't notice it contributing heaps to my survivability till my global accuracy became huge as well, it definitely needs more than a single Accuracy Enhancement slotted.
That was my ingame experience anyway.
The important thing was that Spines/Dark is hella fun and an instant AoE god.
[/ QUOTE ]Honestly, my Dark/SS never sees it whiff with 1 level 35 Acc IO (Roughly equivalent to 1 +3 SO) and not-quite-perma-rage (there's about .5 seconds of downtime during each activation), so 2-3 Accuracy SOs/IOs is plenty for it. No need for massive global accuracy. -
[ QUOTE ]
There is a villain accolade which you can only get by completing timed missions in sequence - one starts when you finish the last. You cannot go back and re-do it via Oro, you have to get it done right the first time. I would scream seven bells of murder if I was a badger that lost that chance because of inept communication skills of the staff of this company.
[/ QUOTE ]You're wrong on two counts here.
1) It's a badge, not required for any accolades. Efficiency Expert.
2) The missions are not auto-pulled. You have to contact Pither after each mission to get the next. -

[ QUOTE ]
So about Hro'. He was one of the easier AVs for me, what do yall think of trying him and Nemesis at the same time?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can see it now. Veng being stacked on both avs everytime a lieutenant drops.
[/ QUOTE ]Nemmie Lts. have veng, not minions, and it's an on-death cast for mobs. -
[ QUOTE ]
Dark Armor is around the middle for survivability, relies on its heal heavily, and also needs extra accuracy to buff whichever mez aura you take. You'll also need to get a KB protect IO to fill the gap. It's not a bad set (theres no such thing for scrappers) but those are its issues.
[/ QUOTE ]Ummm.... OG is standard accuracy. You only need the extra accuracy if you actually take Cloak of Fear, and really, that power is just so completely gimped when compared to OG that I'd only take it if I have Fears to stack with it. -

Nope, you just don't know how to play your SR. ALL scrappers have weak defense in the low levels.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to entirely disagree with this comment with the same amount of factual evidence as you provided.
[/ QUOTE ]Ummm, all scrappers do have weaker defenses pre-22. There's a leap around 10-16 when they get the mez protection, and then at 22 when they (finally) get SOs. The only scrappers that aren't as weak pre-22 are BS and Katana primaries due to the godliness that is Parry/Divine Avalanche, /Regen, which gets Integration and DP, its main tools, pre-22, which, like most self-heals, are viable without slotting for the first few levels.
Dark Armor is staggering under a massive end deficit pre-SOs. Fiery is leaning entirely on HF there, and because of how their mez protection is split up, can't even pick and choose armors. Willpower doesn't get QR until 20, and its main tool for survival being a taunt aura can easily hurt more than it helps pre-SOs, when the other defenses, and itself, are operating below SO efficiency. Invuln's big tool isn't until 28, and it doesn't have SOs for Resists. SR is lacking AoE defense, and is only on DOs. Shields blooms earlier in terms of pure defense, but it still has issues with its other mitigation and Defense DOs only being +10%.
There's some actual facts. Scrappers (as well as Brutes, Tankers, and Stalkers) have issues pre-22. -

I know that, but RttC's main purpose is Defensive so let's say it is a special case power and bend the rules to take into account RttC's main function which is the main tanking power of Willpower. It doesn't damage Mobs, just mildly debuffs To-Hit, similar to Invincibility, but in reverse and no where near as good as the Defense that Invincibility can generate.
The new rules may not have been targetted to Nerf Willpower and RttC, but that is what the new rules have done. The powerset is just about useless without the main regens from Willpower. And hey, a Nerf is a Nerf is a Nerf, even if it comes in the guise of a politically correct Nerf.
[/ QUOTE ]
No it's not a special case. IT AFFECTS THE ENEMY. Like Chilling Embrace, Invincibility, AAO, and other non-damaging auras. So in PvP it is detoggled by mez like any aura that affects enemies.
Invincibility is also a key power in Invulnerability, as AAO in Shields, what in the hell makes you think Willpower deserves special treatment?
[/ QUOTE ]
Invincibility does not effect mobs in any way and as such does not detoggle when you're mezzed. Just to clarify.
[/ QUOTE ]Which is surprising that Taunt effects are not considered "enemy affecting". -

[/ QUOTE ]...which we don't know anything about. Being able to make purple fire is not the same as complete pet customization.
That being said, while we may not get complete customization, having several different pets to choose from might be a nice touch. Or even different minions summoning randomly, like the Thugs do.
I want the Invasion zombies, dagnabit. *grumble*
[/ QUOTE ]No, what you really want are bunny ears on your zombies. :P -
Let me preface by saying yes, I know Mids' will be updated soon. However, in the mean time, I'm trying to work out a build for a Grav/Energy dominator, and I want to have all my numbers right. I've already figured out how to change the numbers on the individual powers, but how do you go about changing the damage scalar for an AT? That's the only thing that's got me stuck on it now.
