That was actually my prime motivation for this thread.
"Hmm... People are getting everything they want, and I'm happy... No I'm not! I'm not happy, dammit! ARGH!"
Animation time needn't be a barrier to that aspect of power customization; you just make sure that all the animations available for a given power have the same animation time.
New animations need to be made. It's as simple as that. The technology to swap them obviously exists, as Martial Arts and Super Strength will be allowed to swap animations, presumably with animations of the same duration and timing. But just being ABLE to switch animations does not mean there ARE animations to switch TO.
As with "an engine overhaul," the game isn't going to look better or have more options just for having the technology to support alternate options. That will only happen when more options are made, and even just a single alternate for every animation in one powerset is pretty much the equivalent of one brand new powerset.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Was someone implying it was anything different? And just to nit-pick, I'd call it 'Color Customization' as Power Colorization would imply we've been shooting black, white and grey blast for the past several years.
To further nit-pick, even if someone on the boards was implying that this was power customization, it can be argued that it is because we'll get to choose alternate animations for Martial Arts and Super Strength.
As for the suggestion, I doubt we'll ever get a set-less power selection options. Powersets just don't blend well because they aren't the same power but with different animations/fx bagged in separate sets. You can look at any armor set as a testament to that (Can you say Electric Armor but skip Conserve Power for Dark Regeneration?)

Question: Did they actually say you could swap the animations? Or could this possibly be adding powers that 'resemble' the current sets' powers that gray out the similar power once choosen?
I ask because what alternate animation can you really choose for powers like Foot Stomp, Hand Clap and Hurl?
Foot Stomp could be Ground Punch
Hand Clap and Hurl are more tricky

Throw a car instead of a rock? Or even better, make it random like propel is? (But remove the smaller objects, obviously)

I would rather not. There's floor everywhere that you can tear up and throw, but having a car appear out of nowhere is a bit of a stretch. I think a alot of people justify propel with the notion of the opject bing pulled from some other location.

[/ QUOTE ]First time I got the car on my Grav controller I cracked a joke about it being his. Then I found out that the object is picked client-side when I was asked why I was that upset about hurling my desk lamp.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as hyped as anyone else that I can finally get some blue fire, and green darkness going, but I'm being an opportunist here; There's gonna be more.
Devs, how about once you work on the colors, we expand, and make it more 'customize'y? Once you're ready, how about you let us take the powersets, and break them down per-power, huh? And once we do that, not only can we choose the color, but let us select a few animations to go with it?

I honestly doubt this, devs. Sure, sometimes I want to strangle my main because by the time Integration should be up, that Rikti Mentalist just perma-held me for the 18th time, but if I found something that fit the concept of my character? I'd lose the chest-pounding in a New York minute, even if the chosen animation was longer.
I know, I know, 'one step at a time'. I'm fine with that, but let's see what the next step has for us, and hope that we can get more than just a Spectrum of colors, but of movements and motions.
(Maybe even have some sort of /bendover emote for blaster attacks!)
