Exactly what do you want from this build? You have a lot of +damage. Assuming you want to solo, you have very little defense slotted.

I was going for +damage in the previous build then I respec'd and dropped CoF and ToF for Tough and weave to raise my resist and defense. I am going for a either high resist and/or defense. Which do you think is better? I could sacrifice some of the +damage and raise the resist/defense. I was thinking of adding Cloak of Darkness, but then I would have to drop something else. Do you think CoD is worth it?

I found this build to be good for solo and teaming. I am looking to focus on teaming and would be main tank, so survivability is important for this build.

ok, you need to start from scratch, or you are gonna get hurt bad.

You are heavily lacking in defense. With CJ, CoD, and Weave, plus set bonuses, you can easily hit the softcap.

ToF and CoF are sexy, they make you a fear machine, and you can lockdown bosses almost instantly.

Here is my current build, hasten is not necessary, nor is the self rez, I just like em. My tank is tough as nails, and puts out decent damage, but is lacking on AoE, but that is the nature of the set. Make sure you drop a theft of essence into Dark Regen, I am working my [censored] off to get one.

Argh! Just wrote a long reply and the forum ate it! To sum up:

Stamina at 28 is a VERY bad idea. Delay the Fighting pool and CoD to get it at 28.

Drop the Endurance IO in DE, it isn't needed.

Slotting Eradication is a better choice than Scirocco's if you're trying to get typed defense, but 6-slotting it is a bad idea, especially for Death Shroud, since it's so low on endurance reduction. 3 slot Shadow Maul, Death Shroud, and Soul Drain witth Erad, then fill out the slotting with another set.

No endurance slotting in Dark Regen, combined with taking Stamina so late will make this character nigh-unplayable. Slot it for at least 60% end reduction.

Try to find two slots to put in Kick so you can slot another set of Kinetic Combat.

IMO, Gift of the Ancients is a better defense set for DA than LotG or RF since it has both +end and +recovery as bonuses.

Skipping both Op Gloom and the fears is a very, VERY bad idea, since they are key component of DA's damage mitigation. I'd drop Soul Transfer, CJ, or Conserve Power to pick up CoF and ToF. Like DS and DR, CoF should be slotted heavily for end reduction.

If you're not planning on exemplaring then power selection is not as big deal except for what you choose last. Here's what I suggest with slotting and if you plan on exempingÂ…

<ul type="square">[*]Anything more than 4 slotting Reactive Armor is a waste of slots, unless you're 2 slotting steadfast with it.[*]Like Findulias already pointed out, taking stamina at 28 is a bad idea, especially with tough and weave toggles before it.[*]For the purposes of tanking, taunt is better suited at 12 than kick. Also, kick has better slotting possibilities than damage. For example, S/L defense or kb protection.[*]It looks like you're still ~10% short of the soft cap (Can't verify at work).[*]Dark Regen is heavily underslotted and no compensation for endurance. This is going to burn through your end bar.[*]The loss of 3.13% positional defenses in 3 slotting zephyr is ok since you're focused on S/L. Use the slots in Dark Regen .[*]With its current slotting, Death Shroud will eat through your end bar. It needs more end reduction.[*]Don't use conserve power to compensate for your lack of end reduction slotting and expect it to balance out.[*]Slotting for Regen is wasted. You will never achieve acceptable amounts of regen if you're depending on this to get you through without using dark regen. And once you do use it, your end bar will disappear faster than Houdini. And you will be using it, like I said earlier, if you're still short ~10% S/L defense from the soft capped. This means you'll be hit 3 times as much if you were softcapped. [/list]

Boy that's a bad build.

1) Shadow Punch has 22% accuracy.
2) Dark Regen has no acc, no endred, very little recharge...
3) Siphon Life, your second best attack, not only is slotted exclusively as a heal, but it doesn't have almost any accuracy either.
4) Death Shroud with 15% end reduction... Hmmm.. Okay...
5) Soul Drain with 26% recharge... That's not going very well dude.
6) I'd maximize or get at least 75%ish recharge on Dark Consumption.
7) ZOMG you skipped Midnight Grasp!

Honestly, forget Tough/Weave. I haven't touched them on my DA/SS and you're still sitting on some good resists to S/L. End reducers in DR, for sure.

Alright, I think I got a build that I will be happy with - still a bit of an endurance hog. I will depend on my Numina's, Performance Shifter and Theft of Essence to 'hit' for endurance. I tried skipping 'Tough' but, I wanted slots to put my Steadfast Protection: Defense +3% and KB -4 into. I got my defense to S/L up to 49%! I did lose an additional 1.5% (28.1 HP) bonus due to exceding the rule of 5. I might remove one of the Steadfast Protection (res/end) eliminate that slot and place another slot in Stamina to get the 4 set bonus from Performance Shifter (+2.5% recovery).

Since this will be a team build, my acc, dam and to hit do not need to be so high. I will rely on my teamates to blast the baddies as they pound on me

Looking better...

One quick note on the altered build. Remove that end redux slot in shadow punch and add it to dark regen instead. In SP you're only saving yourself 0.69 endurance while saving yourself 7.2 in DR per cast. Overall the total amount of recovery is much better although I did notice you still slotted for +recovery instead of combining for +max end. Also think about adding the miracle unique to health.

Your slotting still needs work, IMO. Most importantly, Dark Regen and Death Shroud are still seriously underslotted for endurance reduction.

Also, an attack four-slotted with KC usually just needs one additional slot. Since the set is low on Acc and Damage, I'd suggest a Acc/Dam or Acc/Dam/Rchg from another set. The Dampened Spirit set aren't doing you much good since they don't provide any Acc, and the 6th slot is better used elsewhere.

I don't think 6-slotting Obliteration is a good choice for a DA tank. You only get 1.88% S/L def--which you don't need since you're already past the soft cap--and Oblit has very, very little end reduction. As I mentioned before, you will be much better off 3-slotting Eradication and then adding two slots from another set. Not only does Erad have Energy defense, (which you need on this build; energy-only attacks will eat you alive) it has a little +end, plus if you add two slots from another set, Acc/End and Dam/End, for instance, you'll have an adequate amount of end reduction. I strongly recommend that you switch all your PBAoE attacks to 3 Erad plus two other slots if you can swing it. The 3 slots of Oblit in DS just give you a small damage buff and a completely inadequate amount of end reduction.

I also think you're gimping yourself by not taking CoF and ToF; they add a huge amout of mitigation that Soul Transfer certainly can't give you. I never even considered skipping Clobber or Op Gloom on my DA/Mace, and I think you're making a mistake of similar magnitude by not getting the fears.

EDIT: A couple of things I missed the first time through. 28 is too late for Stamina, and so is 24. Some tank builds might be able to delay it past 20, but DA is definitely not one. If you can't delay anything else, put off Taunt and Death Shroud until after Stamina. Don't slot the Reactive Armor Endurance IOs, they are not needed--slot all the IOs with resistance instead. I also recommend that you pull the extra slots from CJ and put them in Tough; as it is, Tough is very under-slotted.

I took your suggestions Jebe and Finduilias, I rarely use Dark Regeneration and when I do I usually follow it up with Dark Consumption so I kept the sloting the same. I took Stamina at 20, and rebalanced the 4 slot KC's with an Acc/Dam from another set. I've used CoF and ToF in another build and IMO found the endurance demand of the abilities to be not worth the fear effect. This is a main tank team build, so I am going for damage absorption.

I played with this build a bit in Mids and took the suggestion of replacing Eradication in the PBAoE's. But it bothers me that I gain 3.13% def/1.56% but waste 2 1.8 end bonuses due to the rule of 5! (1 Eradication and Mocking Beratement)

Still trying to tweak this. Maybe slot SM with 5 Scirroco's?

Much, much better! I see that you have 10% more S/L resistance and 10% more E/NE defense with this version than you did the last one--that should help significantly.

I don't know whether you've been shopping for KC or Erad IOs, but I've done it a lot recently, so I thought some tips might help.

First, the Erad quad (Acc/Dam/End/Rchg) is very hard to find and very expensive, though you can usually get it as a level 35 enhancement if you don't mind paying 15-20 million for it. Because of that, I usually slot three other Erad enhancements--I've found that Damage, Damage/Rchg, and Acc/Dam/Rchg work the best--unless the attack is like DS and needs all the End Red it can get. Those three enhancements are relatively inexpensive and easy to find in comparison to the quad, and you can round out the slotting with two slots from another set that have endurance reduction.

With Kinetic Combat, both Dam/End and the Dam/End/Rchg are expensive and hard to find, especially level 35s. (EDIT: to clarify, level 35s are very expensive and other levels are very hard to find.) The best method I've found is to just be patient and wait for a less expensive level 25-34 recipe or enhancement to come on the market. However, for attacks that are slotted just for the set bonus and won't be used much at all, you can replace one of those IOs with the KD proc, which is considerably less expensive than the other two. The KD proc is actually quite nice, (I've put it in my Tier 1 attack on occasion) but unless you go with 6 slots, using it means that your attack won't be fully slotted for Acc and Damage.

I thought about using the KC proc, and I agree with you that losing the acc/dam is not worth it.

As for the problem of paying for this build - I got three words for you (well, actually 10 words)"...Giant Monsters, Task forces and Oruoboros Mishes" - All yeilding Merits

Prices are ridiculous for recipes, even for the salvage to build the recipes once you buy them. So I will be running alot of TF's for merits and AE mishes for tickets to buy the salvage.

Unless I find 1 billion influence lying around.

I totally understand about the cost. I just spent a much larger than expected amount of influence reslotting a DA scrapper. It seems prices have gone up so much within the last month, hell even the last 2 weeks.
