    Mids Steps Down

Thank you for all the hard work you've put into the Designer over the years.

I would have certainly made some horrendous 'errors' if it hadn't been for being able to plan out certain builds.
  2. I thought that's how it worked anyway? Admittedly you will always get the equivalent xp of no more than 4/5 levels above your real level as a sk but you shouldn't be getting the equivalent of, say, lv 49 xp if you're sk'd to a 50.
  3. Clocks
    Vazhilok
    Family
    Banished Pantheon
    Tsoo

    Not necessarily in that order.

I think it's a shame that the BP only get a few boring one-offs and a very dull story arc (Wheel of Destruction). I'm trying to think of a decent story to write for them in the MA atm.

Tsoo are just fun. I actually like fighting against them. They're like an early version of Carnies and can easily overwhelm the underprepared team.

Actually this applies to all the groups bar Family. I just love wise guys.

    COX Lore

I blame Portal Corps - the CoX Universe version of 'a Wizard did it'

    COX Lore

Monica Richter = Maiden Justice (deceased)
Jessica is Miss Liberty (now deceased) and her daughter is Ms Liberty (Alexis?). Ms Liberty is the current hero who stands in Atlas Park (from memory, in-game badges etc and reading the official blurb on the various sites).

Probably more of an update like the one we got for CoV, some new shiny stuff, a little polish on the textures, the black Grandville textures fixed etc. We've already seen more and more glass surfaces (AE building for one), so guessing more stuff like that.

Would be cool if we, inside missions, got to see out. I mean, most offices do have windows, but f'coz they're usually logical in design as well. NC should really try to hire some ace map designers. Would increase the "feeling" a lot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed!

Of course if the same premise was used for an update to the SG/VG bases then woohoo! I really like being able to see the zones from the AE building, especially somewhere like Galaxy or Indy Port.

Even though we have no idea about any of this yet, especially in terms of timescale (a marked improvement in PR, I feel, not giving a timescale - it seems to have cut down the 'Is GR ready yet???!!!' posts) it has renewed my confidence in the direction of the game somewhat.

I also don't believe the game engine is capable of doing a "if X amount of Henchmen are alive, power is X effective" type power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure if they can, i was thinking along the lines of rise to the challange in the willpower set, which has a system for X amount of enemies = X amound of bonus.

I suppose the damage thing could be only a low amount, just to set the power to its "theme" but with the powerset over all it will remove the "squishy" factor

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well Phalanx Fighting checks (or is it Grant Cover?) for the number of allies in range (melee).
  8. With regards to MA: I've been using the system to level (as intended) and, trust me, it made a new villain much more bearable (no travelling, when being KO'd no running almost a mile back to the AE and just as importantly (I feel) NO Kalinda and Burke!

Galaxy City - yes it needs love. A few zones need love. I'm prepared to wait a few more issues yet, however, until this happens. In fact Atlas and Galaxy need a re-jig (all that wasted, warehouse space for instance). Removing it will make a fair few Roleplayers unhappy too...

I have also noticed a dramatic increase in drop rates in 'regular' missions. So much so that I've become quite rich in influence (for me, anyway). I've also noticed that a lot of bits of salvage have dramtically decreased in value over the past couple of weeks.

And I couldn't agree more with banishing the auto-sk feature. Get rid of that (making the MA act like regular missions - keep the auto-exemp feature naturally) and powerlvelling would, imho, decrease (although, again, I've seen a dramatic decrease in this and the sight of all those Fire/Kins in PI and Ouroboros actually made me smile for a change! ).
Let's face it, you could still do a mission with 'easy' mobs (The Family spring to mind) and go in as a level one.

Also, remove influence from non-HoF/Dev's Choice missions. It doesn't need to be there.
  9. Some text clues to the location of the hostage/victim would be nice, as can be doen in the MA. Also, making them 'tab'able would be good, especially in that horrible 'Stop the Rikti Bombing' mission that Levantera gives out in RWZ. At least the bombs have the decency to be a) big and b) make a noise as they fall from the sky.
  10. I take it from press release that the Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning powers are going to be coming out with the expansion then?

    I feel all tingly.
  11. I think I may have to go and change my trousers...
  12. I'm also trying to rework that too!

I am a sucker for punishment.

    The Dawn Patrol

((Is the main requirement that heroes be of British origin? (as per The 'official' Dawn Patrol)

If so I have a candidate who is not leader material but would fit nicely in with the theme.))
  14. Don't even get me started on 'schedule' (shed-yule)...

And as, afaik, no one on here is remotely Australian, what's with that whole 'sentences ending up higher' thing?

Also, project is not pronounced 'pro-ject'! I'll brandish my blunderbuss at anyone who suggests otherwise!
  15. I'm trying to redo it without the knitted wool plot holes... Expect it Soon
  16. Protean and Reichsman would be nice!

Also, the interviewer was quite hot.

Sorry, what was the point of this again?

Oh yes, nice to see them actually getting out on a gaming channel and delivering the gumf to non-CoX players/new players/old players.
  17. Too late to add Ms Adams to the mix?

If anything she'll go and do dirty work (assassinating individuals for reasonable recompense) for others.

As for meeting times, I'm better mid-week atm. Weekends are getting all hot and racy
  18. Rogues do indeed fight anything, which is a big shame.

I'd quite like to see a two-faction option available as the faction selection for a mission (not sure how this would actually work mind, bearing in mind the fact that different factions have different level ranges) and subsequently two bosses from separate factions talking together, who must be defeated.

I'd also quite like to see (but know that this would require cloned 'new mobs' to work) a standardisation of mobs' level ranges:

For example, when creating a custom mob using standard enemies, the CoT are available from level 1-54. As a stand-alone, standard group however they go from 5-54.

In cloud cuckoo land (a place I visit from time to time) I'd love to see all/most mobs be extended to the full 1-54. At least for non-specific mobs such as Warriors, Tsoo, Carnies, Skulls, Hellions etc. Okay maybe less so with the last two.

Mobs such as Lost, Arachnos 1960s, Axis America etc are fine as they are - being as it is that they fulfil a certain purpose within the standard content.

Some of the talk about mispronunciation sounds like extreme hyper-bowl-ee to me.

Think the worst I noticed in the past were usually US placenames - some of the rivers/lakes etc with indian names seem to be pronounced very differently to anything I could imagine from the spelling. Heck - even Arkansas seems a little odd when you first hit it and know the straightforward Kansas.

Guess there's probably enough placenames with odd pronunciations in the UK - but I don't notice them as much having grown up with them.

Though there are also some great English names and surnames with wild and wacky pronunciation - IIRC this is part of the reason why English names get a whole chapter to themselves in Bill Bryson's Mother Tongue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a village near me called Tarring Neville - I always feel a pang of sadness every time I go through it, imagining poor Neville on the high seas...

Apparently it's pronounced Ta-ring (Ta, with the cat sound - forums do not make good phonetics translators) Neville. Pfft.

Also, I know it's not a placename exactly, but Cockshut Road in Lewes always makes me laugh. *giggles* - even moreso if you pronounce the first syllable slowly...

And as for the surname Cockburn...

Most (not everyone) of those who seriously would quit over farmer bans are either in "and good riddance" category or would quit no matter what

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what about that small "not everyone" group (which I'm in either that or I'm a good riddance member)

There you have a group of players that have paid there subs quite possibly for several years and have more than likely purchased most if not all the booster packs loyal customers that your happy to see move else where (and i bet you can guess where they would move).

because i know personally I've pored a lot of cash and time into this game (2 accounts all the boosters numerous character slots and transfers) if it came to the point where i couldn't log into a character because i had farmed with them at some point i would quit without a second thought also if it happened to any of my in game friends and they quit i would quit along with them.

I would do this because i don't want to support a game that would change the rules and then retroactively apply them I'm all for drawing a line in the sand but it should be a line it shouldn't be
"well now we've decide we don't like MA farming so every one who's ever done it may get banned"
It should be a case of "As of (insert date) farming will no longer be tolerated any one found to be taking part will be banned"
this message should be posted in game and pop up as soon as people log in then there can be no claims of "i didn't know" that way the line is drawing and then every one can move forward from that point.

Of course even then farming wont disappear and i believe the devs are foolish if they believe even there current statement will stop farming all that will happen is people will find better ways to disguise there farms in the MA or they'll move back to PI and GV but its still going to happen.

Any way i await and see what comes of the statement but at this rate it'll be another month before we here of any action.

    [/ QUOTE ]

@MESS, I only picked this particular post because it contained a few things in it that jarred with me.

As far as I am concerned this whole farming/powerlevelling thing relates to the MA. NOT to PI or Ourobouros or the 'A Hero's Hero' arc or whatever.

From reading Posi's statement again it seems to me that the banhammer will be wielded (if at all - it hasn't actually happened yet) against the 'Meows', RCO farms, etc through the MA.

I know full well that posting 'no one made you* play those arcs' is not going to change anyone's opinion on the matter.

I'm also gladdened to see less of the 'it's my subs, I play how I want.' Yes, it is 'your'* subs. Play how you want. If the Devs then tell you that, actually, that's *not* the way to play then you have a few options:

Make a complaint (not here, but to the Company, in writing), vote with your feet (i.e. leave the game, stop paying subs). Those to me are the 'sensible' options.

Arguing that someone made you do something by their omission to make it crystal clear that powerlevelling through the MA is not acceptable is, in my mind, akin to the McDonalds case which resulted in them having to put 'This product contains hot water' on their coffee cups.

So I'll ask a simple question: Is levelling very quickly through the MA (i.e. from, say, 1-35/40/50 in a day) acceptable?

(* your = anyone, not directed at anyone in particular)

[edit] - So as far as I am concerned the 'retroactive' nature of the action will be for the whole month that i14 has been live. Again, I don't know any more than anyone else does. Until 'we' receive confirmation of something (if indeed, we will - there's no naming and shaming allowed remember) then threads such as this are merely people trading opinions.

    New Archetypes

And hopefully with some 'wibbly background' slow-mo stuff too... Okay, perhaps that's for a different game .

Does anyone think that Dual Pistols might be 'Gunslinger-ish' with a few 'special' bullets' btw? And the John-Woo thing too, natch.
